《Grand Magic Games: Fairy Tail X Magi Crossover》Chapter 33

The next day, as Yukino was walking around, she heard two men converse between one another as she passed them.
"Hey, did you hear?" One said.
"You mean about what happened last night?"
"Huh? What happened?"
"Somebody attacked the inn where Sabertooth was staying."
"What? Someone's picking a fight with Saber? Who'd be that stupid?"
Stopping, she heard the other say, "Can't say." Turning towards them, her eyes widened. "But still, outside fights happen every year at the Games."
"It's a festival, so they gotta live it up!"
As they left, Yukino looked towards the sky. Smiling, she thought, 'It couldn't be...could it?'
"We have entered the 3rd day of the competitive marathon we call the Games!" Chapati announced.
"I wonder what new drama the Games will show us today." Yajima said.
Turning towards Lahar, he smiled. "Our guest commentator today is from the Magic Council, Lahar!"
Smiling, Yajima turned to Lahar. "It's been a while."
"I'm pleased to be here." Lahar said, smiling.
"Lahar, I hear you're the captain of the Council's Arrest-And-Custody Division." Chapati commented.
"Yes...We will permit no injustices during the Games."
Meanwhile, Doranbalt frowned as he sat with the audience as they laughed. "Lahar even roped me into coming along." Sighing, he looked down.
Flashback~~~~~~
Sitting in the bar at a table, Doran asked, "A guest at the Games? You?!"
Closing his eyes, Lahar nodded. "I had no good reason to refuse." Lifting his head, he smiled as he looked at Doran. "Come along too, Doranbalt."
"No...I have-"
"You want to see the old members of Fairy Tail back in action, don't you?"
Flashback over~~~~~~~
Smiling, Doran looked down. Back with Chapati, he announced, "The competition for the 3rd day is Pandemonium! One member from each Guild will be taking part!"
For Fairy Tail A, it was Erza while B was Cana; for Mermaid Heel, it was Milli; Raven Tail: Obra; Blue Pegasus: Hibiki; Saber: Olga; Lamia: Jura; and, lastly, Quatro: Nobarly.
As they all piled into the arena, Pumkin walked in. "Sorry about my absence from yesterday's games! Now, let me explain the rules for Pandemonium!" Before the members could react, a ginormous castle appeared, startling them. "It's the Palace of Evil Monsters: Pandemonium!"
"Huge?!" Sora's eyes widened from the sight. Pouting, she crossed her arms. "Aw man! I wanna be there to fight the monsters!"
Patting her back, Mira chuckled. "Well, for now, we should cheer for Cana!"
"Yeah...I guess..."
"Within those walls, there are a hundred monsters. The monsters are sectioned off into 5 levels: D, C, B, A, and S, according to their battle prowess! And this is how they are spread out."
With Magi, they were intrigued, especially Kouen.
"So, inside that palace holds monsters that they know nothing about...and they're still gonna fight 'em?!" Alibaba exclaimed.
"Basically! I'm sure they can handle themselves." Aladdin said.
"At what cost though? Wouldn't they have to worry about the citizens if it gets out of hand?" Morg asked.
"I'm sure they have that handled." Sin said.
"Yeah. They wouldn't have this event if it put the innocent lives at stakes." Muu said.
"Though, it is intriguing that they could get that many creatures in one place." Kouen commented.
Pointing towards the sky, Pumkin said, "By the way, if you want to know how tough our lowest class, D-Class, is..." Suddenly, an image of the inside appeared with a monster wreaking havoc. As more appeared, he continued. "There are these and others that are even stronger! A hundred of them are scattered around within the Palace!

"Each class of monster should be twice as strong as the class below it! And the S-Class monster is so strong, there's no guarantee even a wizard saint could take it down!"
"Wow! Even Jura would have a hard time?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Maybe...But he's the strongest we know of..." Gajeel said.
"Gajeel...are you doubting Erza's capabilities of destroying each monster she meets?" Jellal asked.
"Well...If what that pumpkin said is true..."
"Enough." Hitting Gajeel on his head, Laxus crossed his arms. "Let's leave our faith in Cana and Erza."
"You each will enter in order and decide how many monsters you will each fight. That will be your challenge. For example, if you choose to fight 3 monsters, you will find 3 monsters emerging from the Palace gates. If you manage to beat all 3...that contestant will get 3 points! Then the next contestant will choose a number out of the remaining 97 monsters to fight!" Pumpkin explained.
"We will continue this until the number of monsters left is 0, or until the contestants run out of magic, whichever comes first. Then the contest will end." Suddenly, a sign appeared, which read, "Monster: 100/100".
Bending down, Milli said, "It's like one of those number games!"
"Exactly! Once you've made a complete round, it's very important to strategize based on how everyone fared. But as I mentioned earlier, each monster has a rank. Once you've submitted your choice of how many monsters, it doesn't matter if it's as low as 1 or as high as 5, the monsters appear at random!"
"Well, that sucks." Alibaba said. "You won't be able to make a strategy on time!"
"Yeah." Morg said.
"But doesn't that make it fun?!" Aladdin exclaimed, to which they looked at him with confusion. "Think about it; if you were faced with only one class, wouldn't that be boring?"
"I guess you've got a point."
"Your points only come from the number of monsters you vanquish, not the class." Pumpkin explained. "Once you have entered the Palace, you will not be allowed to leave until you have vanquished the number of monsters you chose."
"What happens if you go down within the Palace?" Cana asked.
"Then you keep the number of points that you have already earned...but you will retire there with your turn never coming again, and for all later rounds, you will be counted as vanquishing 0 monsters." Pulling out a box of sticks, he held them in front of him. "Now we'll draw sticks to determine the order."
Pulling out her stick, Erza drew one. "I am number one."
"You're lucky! The first gets the most turns of anybody." Cana laughed as she got 8.
Sighing, Erza walked forwards. "I had figured this game would all depend on the number I drew."
"You mean luck of the draw?" Pumpkin sweat dropped. "N-no...Maybe, but I don't think so. The game is set up to be based on how you pace yourself and how well you sum up the situation."
Smirking, Erza looked down. "No. This game is over." Looking towards the Palace, she furrowed her brows. "I will take on all 1 hundred monsters."
Shocking everyone, while Fairy tail laughed at her boldness, Pumpkin tried to stop her as she walked towards the entrance. "I-impossible! It's set up so that they'd massacre a single wizard!"
"So be it!"

"That's Erza for ya!" Sora smirked.
"Hopefully, she'll put on a show for everyone to show that Fairy Tail is back in action." Laxus said.
"Yeah!" Cheering, Sora smiled.
Meanwhile, as Erza fought, sustaining wound after wound, she persevered. As everyone was shocked by her battle, Fairy Tail cheered. Swiping at the last enemy, she panted. As it fell, she walked away, holding her sword in the air from her victory.
"I-I don't believe my eyes! All alone, she vanquished a 100 monsters. She has cleared the entire Palace!" Chapati could barely keep himself from falling over. "Is this the true power of the Guild that, 7 years ago, was known as the strongest in the land?! Fairy Tail A, Erza Scarlet, takes an overwhelming win! A total victory that no one can dispute!" Hence, the audience remembered Erza and her heroics. "The crowd is still cheering!"
"I am totally overwhelmed." Yajima held his head as he smiled.
"There are no words." Lahar sweat dropped.
Turning around, Erza smiled as her team caught her attention while running towards her. Surrounding her, she had to move back as they cheered for her victory. "We haven't won the Games yet!" She smiled as one eye was open.
Meanwhile, Minerva simply watch from afar. "Interesting...Now I realize that Fairy Tail is not quite all talk."
"Erza Scarlet...One who knows Jellal well." Kagura narrowed her eyes.
"For its decisive victory in Pandemonium...Fairy Tail A earns itself 10p!" As Chapati said this, Erza fist-pumped the air. However, something suddenly struck him. "Um...To assign the rest of the points to each of the remaining 7 teams, we are going to have to come up with a ranking. It won't be the most thrilling of games, but we do have a game we can play for this."
Hence, a MPF was summoned. Pumpkin stood in front of it, smiling. "The Magic Power Finder, MPF! When you hit this machine with magic power, it assigns a point value to it and displays it. We'll assign the rankings to the wizards based on these scores."
"A simple test of magical power, hm...? I'm afraid I am at a slight disadvantage her." Hibiki sighed. Standing beside Cana, he smiled charmingly at her. "By the way, Cana, are you free this evening?"
Drinking, she chuckled as she looked at him. "I am free, but I'm afraid...that I won't be able to drink any more than one barrel."
"You drink too much."
"That drunkard!" Gajeel complained.
"We'll get nothing out of her." Laxus sighed.
"Cana, stop drinkin' and get you're head in the game!" Sora shouted.
Looking at them, Cana tilted her head as she burped.
"We'll leave the order the same as the order we just chose." Pumpkin said.
Smiling, Milli walked towards the MPF. "Then that means I'm up first! Here I go! Kitten blast!" To which it showed 365.
"Without anything to compare it to, we can't tell if it's a high number or not." Chapati sighed.
"We Rune Knights have introduced this device into our training." Lahar chuckled, remember all the times he had to see the scores. "So I can tell you that this level is very high. The same level as a Rune Knight unit leader."
"Next, we have Nobarly from Quatro Puppy!" After doing his attack, Chapati said, "And he turns in a 124 score. A little low!"
After Hibiki did his, he earned a 95. Disappointed, he fell to the ground. "What have I done?"
Laughing, Cana kneeled on the ground as she patted his head. "Just let your big sister cheer you up tonight!"
Hugging her, he sighed. "Yes, I'll lean on you!"
Next, Obra earned a 4 as everyone was shocked. Since he was mysterious, they thought he would be strong. However, Happy stood up because he saw it was the man that attacked Carla and Wendy.
"What the heck?!" Sora was dumbfounded. "How does someone like him get a 4?!"
"Is he just fooling around?" Laxus crossed his arms out of annoyance.
"Oh, come on!" Gajeel complained.
Mira chuckled. "Guess he can do better next time."
"Now that was a disappointing result...But there are no do-overs!" Pumpkin stated.
However, Flare was enraged and confused. "What was that, Obra?! What kind of idiot are you?!"
"Shut your mouth, Flare! We mustn't let him show his magic in public!" Ivan said.
"He's one guy you don't want getting serious on you!" Nal said.
After showing the ranking so far, Chapati said, "That brings us to Olga's turn! And listen to those cheers!"
As Olga walked forwards, he used, "120-MM Black Thunder Cannon!" Earning 3825, putting him in first. However, he started to sing.
"Y-you can stop singing now!" Pumpkin said.
"Now everyone is wondering whether the wizard saint Jura can beat that number!" After he asked if he could use full power, Jura used, "Fuji Eruption!" Earning 8544, he smirked as everyone was astonished by his score. "W-we have just seen a new record for the highest score ever recorded on the MPF! They don't call him a wizard saint for nothin'!
"And the final contestant: Cana Alberona from Fairy Tail B! It must be a letdown to have to follow Jura...But give it your best shot anyway!"
Taking off her jacket, she smirked upon letting the Fairy Glitter mark be seen on her arm. "Now...time for the sucker punch!"
Upon seeing it, Makarov hesitantly turned to Mavis, who smiled. "Y-you didn't..."
"I lent it to her special this time. So we can win!" Her eyes sparkled while his face was one of mortification.
"Come to me! River of light that guides the fairies!" Cana held her fist in the air.
Turning to Cana, Mavis looked determined. "She's always had an amazing power hidden deep within her. She can use it!"
"Shine! Break the evil fangs of those who would threaten us! Fairy Glitter!" Creating a huge blast of light, Cana was sent backwards. While the audience was shocked, Fairy Tail cheered for her.
Smirking, Ivan watched this commence. 'One of the 3 Great Magics of Fairy Tail...and Cana possesses it?'
As the dust cleared, it was revealed that she earned 9999. "Wh-what just happened? She destroyed the MPF...and maxed out the score!? What is this Guild made of?!" Chapati profusely sweated. "With a one-two finish in the competition section...it's Fairy Tail! Can anyone stop them now?"
Smiling, Cana held her arms in the air. "No one can stop us! Why? Because we're Fairy Tail!"
Meanwhile, Pumpkin had his hat on. Looking at Fairy Tail, he smirked. "I may have to rethink this a bit..."
"Alexei-sama! I have the battle match-ups." Nal gave him the paper.
"This one match-up...It seems the management has given us what we wanted! Then let us begin...to fulfill our true goal in these games."

The Fate Eater
What might a man really do if he found himself reincarnated into a fantasy world as a dragon prince? How would he come to terms with his new nature, his larger-than-life family, the agendas of warring factions, and the destiny he never asked for? This is a story that intends to defy some isekai tropes, but play into others. It's mainly about exploring a rich hand-crafted world, full of its own history and mysteries. Its characters have their own lives and aspirations, and our protagonist is but a piece of the greater tapestry. This story is not about right and wrong, or good and evil. It's about a dragon-man being tested by fate, power, and time. It's about what it's like to live as an outsider who lost their home. But perhaps the most central theme is freedom. What does freedom really mean? What will it cost and how much might one be willing to pay for it? Does it even truly exist? Let's find out together.
