《Heavens Light (A Magi Fanfic)》Chapter 12: I Can't

I felt the warm sun shining on my face as I fluttered my eyes open. My eyes felt dry as I rubbed them with my hands. I looked down when I felt something in my arms. I noticed I was holding the teddy bear Chloe got me along with little Rea sleeping next to it. I sat up trying not to wake Rea up and looked over the edge of the bed. Quinn was laying on the floor with pillow and blanket, sleeping soundly. I smiled at her as she slept, but soon frowned.
"She must of been worried sick about me." I thought as I remembered what happened yesterday. I felt the tears coming back but quickly wiped them away. It hurt like hell, I don't know how to handle it. Kyle was always the one there to comfort me when I was upset, now I will never feel him in my arms again. I slowly crawled out of bed and grabbed a peice of paper out of my bag along with a quill and ink. I wrote down a small note for Quinn when she walks up, I don't want her freaking out and sending a search party. I set it down on the pillow on my bed and walked out of my room. I still had the same clothes on as yesterday and my ponytail was a mess, but I didn't care. I roamed the halls until I came to a room.
"Aladdin, I'm worried about Ashlin." I heard Sinbad on the other side. Aladdin must be in there too since he said his name.
"I am too, she just lost her-" but Aladdin was cut short.
"That's not why I'm worried, I think she's in danger, I believe there is an assassin trying to kill her." Sinbad said with a sigh. Even through the door was closed I could still see their worried expressions.
"What should we do?" Aladdin asked.
"That's the thing, I don't know." he said sighing again. I stepped away from the door not wanting to hear anymore of the conversation. I walked away not hearing them anymore. I turned around a corner and bumped into someone, I fell onto the floor as I slowly sat up.
"Ashlin, I'm sorry." I looked up to see Hakuryuu holding out his hand to help me. I took it as he pulled me back onto my feet. I looked at the floor not wanting to look at him.
"Are you alright, if you need anything you can just ask." he said lowering his head to look at my face. I turned to the side not meeting his eyes once. He just sighed and stood back up patting my head with his hand.
"Fine, if you don't want to talk that's fine by me." he said walking past me, I quickly turned grabbing his sleeve making him stop. He looked at me before smiling. I let go before walking with him, back to the same room as Aladdin and Sinbad. He knocked on the door as I heard foot steps come, opening the door showing Masrur. We walked in me staying behind Hakuryuu my gaze still locked onto the floor. We sat down in a chair right next to each other. I put my hands in my lap and stared at them.
"Ashlin, you alright?" Aladdin asked walking over and looking at my face. I never meet his eyes or did I answer his question.
"Ashlin, can you please look at me." Aladdin said putting his hands on my face making me look at him. He had a bright smile on his face showing everything is alright. I smiled a little making him even more happy.

"It's not your fault, I don't like it when you frown, you look better when you smile." He said trying to cheer me up. He removed his hands and looked over at Sinbad. He nodded has he looked at Hakuryuu telling him to listen carefully.
"As of what happend, I'm am fearing the worst, you and your brother were both targeted for some unknown reason, I'm going to be placing you under protection with two guards." Sinbad said pasing back and forth. I had a blank face as I listened carefully, but I soon stood up interrupting him.
"I'm happy that you are concerned about me, but I know how to take care of myself, if that assassin comes, let him, I'll be ready for him." I said sternly with a serious gaze before walking out of the room without letting anyone answer. I walked alone waiting for them to come after me, but no one did.
"I guess Sinbad told them to leave me be for a while." I thought as I gazed at the floor again with my hands behind my back. I soon heard breathing not to far away making me stop walking. It soon left like the wind blowing it away. I looked around and found no one to be seen. I hugged my arms and shiver, fear starting to get the best of me. I'm afraid that what happened to my brother would happen to me. I took a couple of deep breathes before walking again. I came to the garden where the waterfall and pound were. I sat down looking at the reflection of the sky on the water. A small breeze blew threw making my hair flow in the wind, I see pink flower petals floating in the wind making everything look even more beautiful. I smiled to myself as I held out my hand one landing in my palm. It brought back memories of me and my brother playing under the cheery trees at the park in Madonia.
"Time to die." I heard in the breeze snapping me out of my thoughts, I quickly turned to find a young man with brown hair and green eyes, about my age with a katana in his hands ready to stab me. . He thrushed it forward at me as I rolled to the side getting a large cut on my side. I flinch as I felt the stinging sensation and the warmness of the blood flowing from my fresh wound. I quickly stood up facing him. He grinned happily at me placing the none sharp edge of his blade on his shoulder.
"Not bad, most people die when I come up behind them like that." he said smiling evilly.
"Then next time you shouldn't muttered to yourself, that's if you live to see another day." I grabbed my sword from at my side and held it out in front of me.
"We're you sent her to kill me like you killed my brother." I said rage in my voice. He just laughed at me at he pointed his blade at me.
"I didn't kill you brother, but yes, I'm here to kill you, I was requested to kill you by the orginization." he said charging forward. He swung at my legs with his katana as I quickly jump making him swing under, but I didn't see was he planned this out and punched me in the gut in mid air. I flew back into the wall making a creator. I fell to the ground holding my stomach, coughing up blood.

"How the hell can he hit that hard." I thought as I slowly looked up. He came up to me picking me up by the hair. I screamed in pain as I felt the tip of his blade get stabbed into my thigh. I started to cry, I felt useless, weak. I opened my eyes and looked into his sapphire blue ones. That's when I saw it, I could see in his eyes he didn't want to.
"I know you don't want to kill me, so why push yourself to do it." I said holding back the urge to scream again. He was taken back and dropped me to the ground. I used my sword to help me stand as a large pain spread threw my leg making me flinch.
"You don't know anything, you don't know what I have to go through." He said angrily kicking the back of my legs making me fall to the ground. He stabbed my left shoulder making me scream again.
"I will not die, not today." I thought to myself.
*Hakuryuu's pov*
We all sat in the room as we watched her leave. I stood up to go after her but was stopped from an arm against my chest.
"Leave her be, she needs some time alone." Masrur said removing his arm. I sighed walking bavk over to the chair and sitting back down. Soon Alibaba walked into the room with Isabelle and Quinn following behind him. He greeted everyone with a weak smile and sat down in the chair were Ashlin was just sitting in. He layed his head back and sighed. He had dark circles under his eyes.
"Did you even get any sleep?" I asked shaking my head at him. He shook his head no meaning he didn't. I just sighed as I thought about Ashlin on how she felt, not even listening to a single thing Sinbad is saying.
"Ahhhhh!" I heard a scream but only faintly. I stood up on my feet looking at the door.
"That sounded like Ashlin." I thought.
"Hakuryuu, what's wrong." Sinbad said. I just ignored him and ran out of the room. I heard footstep steps behind me as I looked back seeing Aladdin and Alibaba running with me. We came close to the garden and stopped and listened.
"Ahhhhh!" another scream and it was from the garden. We ran in, stayed hides from sight as we came to a bush. My eyes widen as I see Ashlin laying on the ground tears in her eyes, with a katana being shoved into her left shoulder by some man. Me and Alibaba were about to step out, but was stopped by Aladdin.
"What are you doing, she's going to die if we don't help her." Alibaba said rage in his voice.
"Don't, she as I plan and we can't interfere." Aladdin said looking back at Ashlin. I did as well as I saw Ashlin looking towards us with a look saying stay back. I sighed as I sat back, but was ready to come out when necessary.
"You too." Alibaba said getting more in raged.
"It's what she wants and I'm going to respect that." I said pointing to her. She mouthed words to Alibaba. They read: stay put and come out when things go bad. He frowned but nodded as we stayed in the shadows.
*back to Ashlin*
I saw the three boys in the bushes and mouthed them to stay put. The katana sunk deeper into my shoulder making me grint my teeth as tears flowed down my face.
"What's the matter, does that hurt." the man said sarcastically. I breathed in and out slowly, calming myself.
"This is going to hurt, a lot." I thought as I moved my hands under me. The man was confused by my actions, but didn't move. At that point I pushed up letting the katana go straight threw my shoulder making the man let go and stable back. Half and half was sticking out of my body on each side. I placed my hand on the handle of the katana and slowly pulled it out making me choke down my urge to scream. I fully pulled it out and held my shoulder, blood oozed out staining my clothes with red. I throw the katana into the pound making him weaponless. His eyes were wide from shock and fear.
"Why the hell did you do that for." his voice stumbling.
"Because, I'm not going to die and if I have to lose a lot of blood to do so, I will do it to stay alive." I said as I lifted my head looking at him with a serious gaze.
"Your crazy, that wound can make you die from blood loss." he said taking a step back. I looked down for a little bit before look back at him with a soft smile.
"I know you don't like to kill, but you don't have a choice in the matter, your trying to keep your family safe, the organisation is using them against you and if you don't do your job their dead, I'm I wrong." I said taking step forward, pain going into my leg once again. He just stood there speechless, he looked down and balled his hands into fists.
"Shut up, you useless bitch." he yelled looking back up tears streaming his eyes. He charge at me fist in the air, slamming it into my stomach again. I slid back a little, coughing up more blood. I looked up to him with the same warm smile. He stepped back as I fell onto my knees.
"You can kill me if you want, but that won't change, they will keep making your kill even when they kill your loved ones." I said slowly standing back up. Tears where still in his eyes as he looked at me with guilt and regret in then. The boys were getting in patient and more likely thinking I'm crazy, but I don't care what they think. He's been through a lot, making him walk down the wrong path. I stepped close to him, he didn't move, he just stared at me. I looked at him before wrapping my arms around his neck, then pulled him close hugging him. He squirmed in my grasp, but I didn't let go.
"Don't worry, they be just fine, I promise I will help you get them back." I whispered in the softest tone I could do. He soon stopped moving before breaking down into tears.
"I-I can't, I j-just can't kill y-you." he said sobbing on my shoulder hugging me back. He held in these emotions for far to long, think that if he killed people like he was told everything would go back to normal for him. I looked at the bush and nodded saying they can come out. They all did with shocked expressions.
"What's your name?" I asked in a gentle tone.
"J-Jack." he said not caring about the three boys.
"I forgive you for what you've done, Jack." I said, but I could feel my body growing weak. My legs started to tremble under me as I tried my best to support my weight. Jack felt me shaking at quickly looked at me with wide eyes realizing what's happening. My eyes lids started to get heavy as the blood loss started to take a toll on me.
"Shit, what have I done." I heard Jack say as black spots dotted my vision. I felt him pick me up and start to carry me.
"We need to get her to the infirmary!" I heard Alibaba yell before darkness took over my body.

8 1204Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.
