《Heavens Light (A Magi Fanfic)》Chapter 1: The Dungeon of Angila

It was dark out in the kingdom of Madonia, the moon high in the sky.

"Well, here we are, at the dungeon of Angila." I said standing next to the dungeons gate. My name is Ashlin and well I'm here to capture the dungeon in front of me. I have dark brown hair and deep sea blue eyes with a hint of green. If you don't know what a dungeon is, then I guess I will have to explain, you see a dungeon is a place where once you go inside there is no turning back. People who have gone into a dungeon are never seen again, but if the person found the Djinn inside are granted wealth and power. A Djinn is very powerful, if you find a Djinn they will give you the power they posed. There are many different dungeons and Djinn's. I'm at the dungeon of Angila, the guardian of the heavens.

"Yes, but are you sure you want to do this, we are just market people, we have no experience fighting." said my best friend Isabelle. She was a little taller then me with light brown hair and dark brown eyes. She wore a white dress that went down to her knees. I wore the same dress as well sense we really don't care about fashion that much. She also had a black belt around her waist, a small dagger hanging on her side, and a bag of things just in case. She had a worried expression that I really don't like seeing.

"Yes, I'm sure about it, also if we capture this dungeon we won't have to worry about us starving to death from no money." I said trying to get my point across that I made up my mind.

"Alright, I did promise I would go with you and I'm keeping that promise." she said giving me a big smile. I smiled back at here glad that I have a friend like her, she is more like a sister sense both of our fathers run the same market. I can see her shaking a little as she looked at the dungeon.

"Are you going to be ok?" I asked concerned.

"Yes, I'm not scared of the dungeon, well just a little, but I am really scared about is what our parents will think if we come back." she said shaking her head. I shivered at the thought of them on how mad they would be sense we never told them about this at all. I grabbed the dagger I had around my waist and checked to see if it was sharp. It was curved at the end and had a small red jewel on the handle. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was good enough for me.

"Well, lets go." I said walking forward. Isabelle followed right behind me. I brought my hand up to touch the gate, but stopped about a centimeter away from touching. I took a deep breath and put my hand on the gate. The area I touched glowed as I started to get dragged into the dungeon. I closed my eyes thinking it wouldn't be as scary if I did, but once me and Isabelle were in the gate all the way, every thing went black.

I woke up to be found in a dark wet cave. I slowly sat up, looking at my surroundings.

"What happened, wait, Isabelle were are you?!" I yelled looking frantically around for my friend. I spotted her not to far away, I got up quickly and run over to her.

"Isabelle, wake up." I said shaking her shoulders.

"What happened, where are we?" She asked slowly getting up rubbing her head.

"We're in the dungeon." I said calmly looking around for something to use as a light source.

"Well, we can't sit here all day." she said grabbing her bag and digging something out. She took her dagger and cut off some of my dress.

"Hey, use your own dress!" I yelled hitting her on the head, she just giggled. she grabbed something next to her.

"Sorry, whoever's bone this is." she said wrapping the cloth around the end of the bone. Now that I look more closely, I see a lot of skeletons, Isabelle stuck the bone with the cloth into what looked like oil and lit it with a match.

"I knew it would be a good to have you come with!" I said with a large smile.

"What would you do without me." she said laughing. Even in the situation we are in we always find a way to have fun in the process.

"There's a tunnel over there." I said pointing over in the direction of the tunnel.

"Let's go." she said standing up handing me the torch. We walked for who knows how long, until we came to an opening. There was was two different tunnels, one leading up and the other leading down.

"I think we have to split up." I said turning to face Isabelle, she nodded in response. She did the same thing as before to make a torch, but used her own dress this time.

"I'll go up and you go down." I said giving her a hug. "be safe and don't get killed."

"Same with you." she said as we separated from our hug. I stood there waving until she disappeared down the tunnel.

"Well I guess I should get going." I thought walking over to the tunnel. I walked up the slightly steep tunnel with the torchlight flickering against the tunnel walls. The deeper I went in, the more skeletons I saw. I looked up from the ground to notice a light up ahead.

"Is this a trap up ahead." I thought walking to the light. I stepped out of the tunnel to be blinded by the light. I blinked a couple of times to a just my eyes. I looked around to notice it was a large colosseum. There was large piles of bones in different areas of the colosseum. I put down the torch and picked up a sword that was next to my feet, keeping my guard up.

"ROAR." screeched something in the sky. I covered my ears, looking up into the sky. It was coming down at a rapid speed. The small spot in the sky grew bigger and bigger, then my heart sunk.

"DRAGON!!!!!" My mind screamed at me, knowing what it was, I quickly turned around going to run back into the tunnel, but the tunnel was gone. I heard a hissing sound, I turned to find it ready to breath fire. The fire shot out of its mouth towards me. I dodged it quickly, running to a pile of bones.

"Out of all creatures it had to be a fire breathing dragon!" I yelled in frustration.

"Thump." I heard as the dragon landing in the middle of the battle field. I peeked out behind the pile of bones, that's when I saw it.

"That's why it's attacking me, it's just trying to protect its egg." I thought as I gripped the sword tighter. "But to get out of here I have to get past the dragon." I muttered, seeing the exit on the other side. The dragon walked around looking to see were I was hiding. Then an idea hit me.

"It's the only choice I have and if things go wrong, I will have to run." I thought leaning back. I slowly got up and moved out from behind the pile, the dragon noticed me. It's ruby colored scaled shimmered in the sun as it moved, its tail was like a spear on the end and large horns that stuck out of the top of its head. It's blood red eyes were glaring straight at me. I stood there looking into the dragons eyes, it made a low growl at me and not a pleasant one of that.

"I mean no harm, please let me leave this place." I said throwing my sword far off to the side. It's eyes looked more soft know, it wasn't glaring, but it still wasn't happy. The more I looked at the dragon the more I realize it's a she. I slowly bowed down, not looking away from her gaze. Her eyes were no longer mad, she was surprised by my actions. They turned soft and gentle, she lowered her head bowing back telling me she was not going to hurt me. I stood straight again and smiled at her with happiness that she was going to kill me, also that my plan had worked. I heard that dragons are very easily offended and sometimes if u bow to them you will gain there trust, then leave. She moved forward towards me, I didn't move afraid of moving I would lose her trust if I did. She brought her head down close enough for me to touch. I slowly brought my hand up and put it on her nose. Her eyes were full of love and care that I wish she would be free from this place.

"You know what, I'm going to call you Ruby." I said taking my hand away. She lifted her head turning towards her nest. She looked down at me telling me to follow her, I nodded and started walking to the nest. Once I reached the nest, she picked up the egg with her mouth and brought it down to me. I held out my hands, softly taking it. She looked at me with sadness in her eyes. I knew what she wanted me to do, I hugged the red egg.

"I promise I will protect this egg at all costs." I said looking into her red eyes. A small tear fell down her scaly cheek. it broke my heart knowing that she was never going to see her dragonet ever again. She lifted her head, spreading her large red wings out. She roared before taking off into the sky, dust flying everywhere. She flew until she disappeared from sight. I held the red egg up to look at it. Inside I could see the small dragonet, it looked fully developed inside the egg.

"I guess its going to hatch soon." I thought. Inside the nest was a large piece of cloth, I grabbed it and tied it around my neck to make a small swaddle to carry the egg in. I walked to the tunnel, turned around hoping to see Ruby one more time. I didn't see her so I walked down the tunnel. I didn't need a torch sense the tunnel had lanterns hanging on the walls. I came to a large opening at the end of the tunnel. There was another which is probably the one Isabelle is going to come out of. I looked to my left to see a large door with pillars supporting the ceiling.

"Aaaaaaaaa." I heard a scream from the tunnel. The next thing I see is a terrified Isabelle running and hiding behind one of the pillars. She slumped down and buried her face into her knees. I walked over to her, hearing her mumble something. She was covered in blood, I freaked out a little but noticed it wasn't red, it was pure black.

"Isabelle, what happened?" I asked calmly squatting down. I put the egg down so nothing would happen to it. She was crying from shock and terror, she looked up and hugged me.

"I-I was so scared, t-there was s-so many." she said sobbing. I hugged her tightly, trying to get her to calm down.

"What was it that scared you so bad?" I asked letting go of her and backing up so I can see her face.

"Spiders, giant spiders." she said whipping the tears away. Out of all thing it had to be spiders, she was terrified by them. We sat there for a little while, so she could calm down. I grabbed a cloth out of the bag and helped whip the black blood that was on her, it stained her skin, but it would come off if she took a bath. When she did calm down she looked at me.

"What happened to you, you don't look like anything happened?" She asked confused. I picked up the egg and put it in Isabelle's lap.

"What is this?" She asked really confused.

"It's a dragon egg with a really baby dragon inside." I said with a large grin. Her jaw dropped in shock.

"WHAT, HOW THE-" she started yelling until I slapped my hand over her mouth.

"Quite down before you attract more monsters." I said scolding her. She nodded and took my hand away.

"I will tell you what happened later, ok." I said taking the egg and putting it back into the swaddle. I stood up and looked at the door. Isabelle stood and stared at the door as well. It was cover in gold vines and flowers with a large eight pointed star at the top. In the middle of the door was two left hand prints. I walked over and put mine in one, Isabelle put hers in the other. The door glowed as it opened blinding us with light. We walked through hoping it wasn't a trap.
