Lexies POV

My head resting on her chest. That's where I feel safest. My body cleaned, my wound wrapped and protected

My thoughts have returned to their rational state. My breathing having slowed to a normal pace and my eyes falling heavier with each breathe

"I argued with mom... she was so mean bil"

She holds me a little tighter, placing a kiss on my forehead

"She told me that I shouldn't be spending so much time with you, that I should be sitting in the empty house so it doesn't get robbed"

I can hear the pain in billies voice when she responds "Baby I'm so sorry, you don't deserve the way that she treats you"

"She makes me so sad Billie, I love her so much but she doesn't love me"

Her face grows painfully sympathetic "Lexie, I love you, you have family here, with us and you'll always be loved by us, especially me. I know that's not the same, but it's true"

I nod, knowing how right she is
