"Hey mom, how was your day?" I smile, feeling my heart go warm and fuzzy seeing a rare sighting of her siting at the kitchen counter
She sighs, completely ignoring my existence
"Mom? Are you okay?" I ask, stepping round to be in-front of her
"Where have you been?" She sounds annoyed at me
"With Billie, she got back from tour a couple days ago, I'm so happy" I smile
"You should be home" she says sternly
"...what for?"
"So the house isn't sitting here empty, that's the first thing people look for when they are out on the rob"
"... are you being serious?"
"Well obviously Alexandra, when was the last time I made jokes"
I swallow the lump forming in my throat, she used my full name. She knows I hate that
"I wanted to spend time with Billie whilst she's home, I missed her" I say, my heart beating all fast and my eyes filling up with water
"Your always over there. Honestly, anyone would think you'd rather be Maggie's daughter than mine!" She raises her voice, making me jump slightly
Yeah well that's true, I'd much rather be Maggie's daughter. "...of course not Mom, I just like to spend time with my best friend. It's not like your ever here anyway"
"What is that supposed to mean? How dare you speak to your mother like that!"
"Mom I'm sorry, I just wish that you were here more, I love you so much and I like spending time with you but your never here" I can feel that I'm about to break down in tears, the initial excitement of her being at home for once having drained out of me
"I work my ass off to provide for you and this is what I get in return? I'm disgusted"
