Lexie's POV
"Hey Maggie, what's for dinner?" I ask, walking down the stairs into the kitchen to see Maggie cooking up a storm
"Tacos"
"Ooo yay"
"How was your day?" She asks as I sit on the counter top
"Exhausting"
"I'm sorry sweetie, not long till summer tho hey"
"Yeah I'm excited for that, I'm just gunna sleep all day for like a week and then have fun" I explain
"Sounds good to me" Maggie smiles
"How are you?" I ask
"I'm really good, I'm excited to be on tour again soon"
"Yes that's exciting!, I'm going to miss you all" I say, feeling sad toward the end
"I know sweetie, we will FaceTime"
"Yeah, but I won't be able to hug you"
She walks over, giving me a big hug. Maggie is like a mom to me, she's been like a mom to me my whole life
I of course have a mom, she loves me and I love her but it's complicated, she's not the best of moms, away for work a lot and I'm convinced she cares more about that job than me
But I'm used to that, from time to time it hurts like hell but I'm grateful to have Maggie
Living right next door means I eat with them often and generally spend a lot of time with them as a family, considering I'm on my own a lot of the time at home
"And this ones only a short leg so we will be home before you know it"
I nod
"So you get Billie to yourself for the next.." she flicks her eyes over to her calendar "week, then we will gone for three, then back for a little bit"
"Okay" I say sadly
"I wish you could come with but we will be back right around the time school finishes for your summer break, we can have so much fun then"

I nod again, thank god I'm not going to spend summer alone, that'd be tragic on a whole new level
"When does Billie get home?"
"Bout an hour sweetie"
"Okay.. imma go nap"
"Good idea"
I then jump off the the counter top, trudging upstairs to take a nap in billies bed
I curl up under her covers, first ripping off my uniform.. yes uniform for school, it's itchy as hell.. and then bury my face into her pillow
It smells just like her and that makes me wanna cry, I'm going to miss her so much
And when she's gone she's bound to find someone better than me to be her best friend, she'll be surrounded my people on her level
Billies POV
Meetings have taken up the majority of today but I'm home, standing in my room seeing my best friend curled up in my sheets, uniform scattered across the floor
She's fast asleep, I can't help but notice how perfect she is, laying there peacefully, her lips slightly parted, body sprawled across the bed
I take my blanket and gently place it over her, stroking her hair out her face as she sleeps
She's been sensitive lately, always tired, always crying, it breaks my heart. I know school is a bit of a struggle for her lately and I'm also leaving for tour next week, I know that's playing on her mind. It's playing on mine too. I will miss her so unbelievably much. So I don't want to wake her, she needs rest
I climb in next to her, holding her hand and just laying in my own thoughts

An hour has passed and Mom came upstairs to tell us dinner is almost ready, lex still fast asleep
I don't want to wake her, she looks like she really needs it, but I know she'll be hungry and want dinner so I gently stroke her cheek

"Lexie..lex" I say gently and quiet
After a few moments she begins to stir, stretching slightly before nuzzling straight into me, making me smile
"Lex, I know your tired but food is ready, you wanna go eat"
I feel her nod against me, her hand grasping tight hold of my shirt "I'm going to miss you too much" she says in a small voice sounding sad
"I know, I'm going to miss you more than you can imagine, but hey, we still have a week" I try to reassure her, kissing the top of her head, my arms around her bare back
"Girls" Mom calls from the hall
"Come on let's go eat" I say softly, releasing us from our hug
We climb out of bed, her whole body now in view as she walks over to my draw to get some of my clothes to wear
She so beautiful, I can't stop looking until I realise I'm looking
Stop Billie stop. That's your best friend
