《The Sleepy Princess Loves The Cold Duke》Chapter Twenty: A New Bed

Poppy now has her own chair in the Dukes office. When she isn't drinking tea with Wilbur, doing experiments, taking a nap, or in her new library, she is with Loki. Why? Because when she is with him she always feels sleepy.
"Why do I feel sleepy when I'm with him?" Poppy asked Steven as they walked to Loki's office. Steven smiled, "maybe because you feel safe around him now." Poppy nodded in half understanding. 'I feel safe when I'm with him?' "Hmm," she pondered.
When the door to the office opened she took the moment to watch Loki. He was already in autopilot. His long black hair was pulled into a ponytail. His eyes darted around the documents he was reading. He wrote on some papers and stamped the others. When he was down he'd separate them into different stacks. She still didn't know what each stack meant.
His skin looked pale but not feverish. His eyes always seemed to have a red tint around them sense he works for so many hours. His rose colored lips thinned when he read something distasteful. His eyebrow furrowed only for a few seconds then he would relax and write something on the paper before moving onto the next one.
Anyone else would think he looks intimidating and scary but the two people at the doorway saw it differently. Poppy walked next to him and hugged him. He was used to this by now. She didn't like interrupting him so as a small greeting she would hug him. He leaned against her without looking away from his papers. It was his greeting back.
Poppy however didn't let go. She put her head on his shoulder and began to read the papers along with him. But before she could get half way through the paper she began to feel drowsy. 'Yup. He is the perfect bed.'

Poppy sat in her chair that was next to Loki and slept against his arm. He barely felt the weight and just glanced at the princess. 'Why does she always sleep on me?'
Steven made note of another journal entry.

"You and the Princess seem to be getting close." Steven wiggled his eyebrows. Loki shrugged then flinched when he felt Poppy's head shift down his arm. He lightly pushed it back on his shoulder and went back to working. "She is like a squirrel. Always scurrying around places. But then when she gets to me it's like all of the exhaustion comes crashing and she is sleeping."
Steven smiled, "it's because she feels safe around you." Loki looked down at the snoring Princess and smiled. "So she trusts me now.'" "Took you two months but she really has opened up to you." Loki nodded. Then he looked a bit confused. "Have you ever tried pizza before?"
Steven was a bit taken aback but still pondered it. "I don't think I have sire." Loki nodded. "Me neither."

Fated Nirvana || Completed ✅
The Fated Series. Book #1. "A single minute without her in my arms and it felt like a lifetime." - Mateo Ramos My name is Mateo Adam Ramos. I was born into a family who's bleed for their reputation, and built us into being one of the most dangerous families to exist. You hear my name... you run. I for one am determined to continue upholding that reputation because that's in my blood. But things are never that simple, are they? Feeling and emotions got involved, and everything I thought I knew, vanished the second I met her. A soft souled, beautiful brown eyed girl who gleams with goodness found her way into my life. I shouldn't have played the good samaritan, that was my fault. I don't want to know goodness, and yet I'm drawn in like it's the light to cure my sins. This goodness has a name, and a face of salvation and I for one know I shouldn't get involved. Guess what I do? I get involved. Because even if I don't want too that's not really how fate works, is it? You don't pick and choose fates plan, you get slammed with it and good luck to your poor soul. This is my story, the kind that was written years before I was even born, and now I'm living it. Watch me make a mess of it too, because after all, I wasn't born to follow. P.S. This book is technically #1, but I have a book before this one that's about their parents. You learn more, and get a clue about their parents and why they are the way they are. Some of the conversations in this book would make more sense by knowing the past. It's not as well written, but if you can get thought it, I promise you'll love this one even more. Of course if you rather start here, then you do you! It will make sense either way! I tired to fill in all the gaps without it getting overbearing. You can always hop back to the book before this after.
