《My Vampire (Book Three)》Chapter 18

"You look like shit." Gabriel's loud voice snaps me out of my sleep and I nearly fall out of the chair I'm sitting in that I dragged across the room to watch Ada.
"I thought the point of having such a large bed was to be able to share it with another person." He laughs and I growl at him.
"Shut up you'll wake her." I warn him and he rolls his eyes taking a step closer.
"Ada!!!" He yells making me stand on my feet furious that he would dare wake her.
"I've watched her sleep for decades she'll wake up when the sun goes down." He says but I still remain angry.
"Why aren't you in bed with your mate?" He says placing emphasis on the word mate with such a bitter tone.
"She has no heartbeat. She doesn't breath. The only way I can tell she's alive is when her eyes move in her sleep." I say reliving the long night of worrying I had.
"Newsflash Isaac she's dead." He jokes and I glare at him. He walks over and pats my back and then scratches underneath my chin, I move my head away from his touch and leave my eyes on Ada.
"You need a shave my friend."he jokes again but I ignore him and stare at the beautiful corpse in my bed.
"She was alive. She loved being alive so much." I say sadly and see her lip twitch for a moment.
"She spent centuries in the dark. She only cared for one person who absolutely despised her. Then she was given life and you all at once, of course she loved being alive." Gabriel says sadly and I ignore the longing look in his eyes as he stares at her.
"Come on" I lead him outside the room and shut the door quietly behind me.
"Why are you here?" I ask running a hand through my hair and slightly stretching.
"Your mother. She can't be held back for long. Her son is missing for weeks and now he's back she still hasn't seen you for almost 2 days. She's a feisty woman." He smiles and I sigh.
"I wouldn't know what to say. How to explain Ada. My brothers..." My throat goes dry thinking about them and the amount of guilt building in my stomach makes me want to throw up.
"See your mother pup. I'll watch the girl." He says and I growl at him not trusting the way he looks at her.
"I've already saved her from Desiderius once. You already know she's completely yours after what Io did,now she won't even look twice at me. Trust me." He says and I nod my head and go back inside the bedroom to shower and shave. However when I finish and open the bathroom door I forget I had the windows open and the moment the ray of light meets Ada's exposed arm she hisses and runs to the darkest part of the bedroom. I shut the door immediately but she continues to growl at me.

"Ada I'm sorry I-" she rushes from across the room and stands in front of me placing her arms on my shoulders.
"You're leaving?" She says quietly and tilts her head, her eyes flash a bright blue for a moment and I nod my head and lower her arms to her side so I can get dressed.
"I have to see my mother." I say putting on a pair of boxers and I hear Ada get back in bed.
"Will you tell her about me?" She says and stretches making her shirt ride up on purpose and I try my best to fit my jeans over my excitement.
"Of course I will." I turn around just as I put my shirt on and see she's trying her best to stay awake and talk to me. I crawl on top of her and kiss her forehead.
"Sleep. Gabriel is here to protect you." I kiss her lips and she hums pleasantly and closes her eyes. I get up and put my shoes on and just as I open the door I hear her mutter something in her sleep.
"I love you." She says and I smile.
"I love you." I close the door quietly and head downstairs to see Gabriel looking through my drawers shamelessly.
"Don't look through my things. Don't bother her and don't do anything stupid. I'll be back soon." I say and he scoffs.
My heart races on the long walk to my mother's house as I don't know what to expect. I can't imagine what she went through, she must have thought I was dead or worse that I left her on purpose. Would she be angry? I'd hate to see her cry. I stop just a few feet before the door way and take a few deep breaths. Please don't cry mom. Please.
I take those last few steps and stop in front of the door and ring the door bell once, my heart jumps at the sound of my mother's voice calling out on the other end.
"Coming!" She yells and the door opens immediately after and she stops right in her tracks and a small smile grows on my face seeing her always made me happy.
"Oh.." her voice breaks and my smile dissappears as tears well up in her eyes.
"Please don't cry mom." I beg her and open my arms for her to hug me. She lets out a small sob and wraps her arms tight around my neck and squeezes as she pulls me towards her.
"Oh Isaac! Don't you ever dissappear like that again! If only your brothers.."her voice cracks again and I feel her tears slowly slip onto my shirt and I hold her tighter.
"I know mom I'm sorry." She gives me one last squeeze before finally pulling back and wiping away her tears.
"Come come inside." She sniffles and gestures inside and I follow after her into the living room.
"I'll make us some coffee." She rushes to the kitchen but I follow after her not wanting to leave her alone.

"Mom I don't want coffee lets just talk." I say but she scoffs.
"Nonsense" she says and brings out two mugs.
"Mom. I'm sorry about what I said before I left." She stops moving around but doesn't face me.
"I should have been with you...to bury them." I say and I hear her let out a shaky breath. She turns around and her eyes are watery but there's a small smile on her face.
"I've heard you found your mate. And you didn't bring her to see me?" She scolds and I try my best to smile.
"If I could bring her I would mom but...it's complicated." I say and she looks at me confused.
"What could be complicated? She's your mate! You'll marry her and in a few years this house will be filled with my grandchildren running around!" She exclaims and laughs slightly. She turns around to start filling a kettle with water and I take a deep breath.
"Mom she's a vampire." I say out loud and the kettle falls into the sink.
"Is...she the one who killed.."her voice breaks again.
"Yes. She killed them." I say and take a step closer towards her.
"Sit down mom please." I say and sit at the kitchen table she turns around but does not sit with me.
"I don't want to see her. I just." Tears start spilling down her face and get up and hug her again and she whimpers into my shoulder.
"Please just talk to her. She didn't know mom. She can explain everything please." I rub her back and she sniffles and looks up at me and places her hand on my cheek.
"Oh you look just like your father." She smiles and sniffles again.
"I love her mom. Please just meet her." I say and she nods her head slowly and begins to make our coffee again.
"Bring her by for dinner...or I don't know if I'll have something she can eat." She tries joking but I'm glad she's open to the idea.
"You don't have to cook mom. We can just talk." I say and she nods her head.
A spend a couple hours with my mom but feel the long night I spent watching Ada sleep catch up to me and I excuse myself by telling my mother I had things to take care of but that I'll be back later tonight with Ada, she smiles but I know she's still nervous about meeting her.
As nice and sunny as it outside I felt like if I were to lie down right there in the grass I'd fall asleep in seconds. The sun begins bothering my eyes and start rubbing them however when I do that familiar grip crashes into my legs and I almost fall over but instead I look down to see Matthew and Michael smiling up at me.
"Where have you been!?" Michael yells at me and I look up just as Mark catches up to them smiling at all of us.
"Boys get down now." He says sternly and they pout but listen to their father immediately and hold on to his pant legs.
"Daddy I wanna ride your wolf again!" Matthew says excitedly and Michael agrees and tugs at his pants harder.
"Don't worry we will just let me talk to Isaac for a second okay?" He says and they both groan and start playing with each other.
"Bring your kids to work day?" I ask raising an eyebrow. Mark sighs and looks over at the two boys wrestling.
"They were driving Crystal up the wall so I decided to take them for the day. I don't know how she does it." He sighs as the boys laugh crazily rolling around in the dirt.
"How's Ada?" Mark says and I feel a little bit nervous, I wonder if he knew what happened last night. That we now have three witches to deal with along with that vampire.
"She's fine..she's sleeping. She's-" he interrupts me.
"Finally your mate?" He says raising an eyebrow and my mouth goes dry. To my luck the boys patience have run out and they're now begging their father to take them running he agrees but looks at me one last time.
"Nothing happens in this pack that I don't know about. I'll see you tonight with those witches." He says and lifts both boys on his shoulders with a smirk on his face and runs off with them laughing. I'm relieved he wasn't angry and now all I can hope for us that Io won't make him upset either.
I finish walking back home and to my disappointment I walk in I see Gabriel napping on my couch. He grunts and wakes up when I slam the front door.
"I thought I asked you to watch her, not sleep all day." I say annoyed as he yawns.
"Not my fault she nearly killed me last night, I can't help being sleep deprived. She hasn't made a peep all day relax. He can't get to her during the day." He says and rolls his eyes and I do the same.
"I'm back now you can go." I say and he gets up and I see a smirk on his face.
"Mind if I give her a goodbye kiss?" He winks and I growl lowly as to not wake up Ada. He laughs and leaves the house without saying another word.
I walk upstairs immediately and I smile when I see Ada in the exact same spot as I left her in. I sigh and climb into bed next her and don't risk waking her up by holding her but to my surprise the moment I get comfortable I feel her lift my arm to wrap it around her and to snuggle into my chest.
"Stop leaving me." She teases and I chuckle lightly and kiss the top of her head and slowly fall asleep.
