《My Vampire (Book Three)》Chapter 10

It's been the same thing every morning for God knows how long, a couple weeks, months? They come in early and inject her. Each time the injections affect her worse and worse, some days she wouldn't be able to walk and other days she'd cower in the corner and shake in pain. Despite all the injections she remained a vampire but she was slowly losing her abilities she's lost her strength and even with my blood her wounds still heal slow. Her conversations have stopped with me and I can see her personality changing, less cold and blunt. It hasn't improved either, she's become shy and more timid. But for the past few days they haven't been injecting her at all, and she was actually improving, she wasn't getting her abilities back but the fierce personality of the vampire I first met was slowly coming back.
"Wait so let me get this straight. Your pack has had not one but two wars over some bloody girls?!" She exclaims sitting next to the bars that separate us while I sit against the wall on my cot.
I nod my head and she laughs clapping her hands together and leans her chin on her hand as she stares at me in disbelief.
"That's ridiculous. And this pack just went along with it? Blindly gave their lives for someone they didn't even know?" She says and I nod again.
"That's how a pack works. Whenever there's a problem..we never face it alone." I say and remember the last words Mark said to me before I foolishly stormed off and got myself into this mess.
"That must be nice...Desi always said I had to learn to overcome things on my own. It was the main reason he left me a hundred years ago. So I could be independent and protect myself, if he saw me like this...he'd be so dissapointed." She says and her smile slowly disappears.
"Why stay with him then? He sounds like an asshole." I say and she laughs again which brings a smile to my face, she actually looked kind of pretty when she smiled.
"I don't know. He has this hold on me. I'll do anything he says until the day he decides he's finally tired of me. I wonder if he's thinking about me now." She says and tugs a the black shirt she wore that was way too big for her body.
"What about you? Who's missing you right now?" She says trying to brighten the mood.

"Probably just my mother and my friends of course. I wasn't exactly happy when I left that day after I heard what happened..." I look over at her and her head is hung in shame.
"Are you really going to kill me?" She asks and I honestly don't know how to answer her.
"I've lived so long...I think I'm actually tired of immortality. I know he doesn't love me. He won't care if I die." She says and I can see how much that realization hurts her.
"I would love to be a wolf. I've seen the relationship between mates. It's beautiful." She smiles but I see her jump up in fear and her entire expression change as we hear the door open upstairs and she backs herself up into the corner of her cell closest to me. I stand and for some reason I felt the need to protect her and stand by her side.
"Alright darlin. You're coming out today." Jeremiah says. She's shaking now in the corner and I almost feel like comforting her. Almost.
Her cell door opens and all three brothers walk in without any weapons. 2 of them grab her by her upper arms and lift her up and slowly start dragging her out of her cell. Jeremiah smiles at me.
"You're gonna wanna watch this one boy." He says and winks at me and a sick feeling forms in my stomach.
They lift her up easily onto that cold slab of a table and restrain her arms and legs. She's not fighting back. She's keeping her eyes locked on me. She keeps a blank expression on her face. Jeremiah leaves her cell and claps his hands eagerly,he has a habit of doing that a lot.
"Well you really have been an amazing test subject darlin. But now play time is over. This will be the one to do it." He says and drags his hand down her cheek . She extends her fangs at him and hisses.
"You won't be able to do that anymore." He says and his brother hands him a very large syringe.
"You'll never beat me." She says and pulls against her restraints.
He laughs and out of nowhere he plunges the needle into her chest causing her to scream out loud. His thumb presses down and the syrum is slowly being injected into her. Her eyes squeezes tight as she begins shaking uncontrollably after he takes the needle out of her chest. She's gasping for air again and choking on nothing. This time is different, the affects are lasting longer than any other injection. Her eyes go on me again and I watch in horror as these freaks science experiment finally succeeds. The bright blue irises I came to know over these past few weeks slowly turn brown. They're actually reversing her process. My wolf slowly starts coming to the surface when I hear an unfamiliar sound coming from her body. She arches her back and gasps and I do the same as her body gives off the sweetest aroma I've ever smelled. My claws extend as well as my canines. Her heart beats for the first time in her centuries of living and the heart beats of my mate.

She's taking large gulps of air and starts to cry but blood isn't coming out of her eyes, they're real tears. She's gasping for air and clenching and unclenching her fists while fighting against her restraints. Jeremiah grabs a stethoscope and I growl loudly as he rudely rips her shirt down the middle just to place it on her left breast above the black bra she's wearing.
"Shut up you fucking dog!" One of the brothers says. I'm seeing red I want to rip them all apart starting with Jeremiah.
Jeremiah smiles widely and looks between his brothers.
"We did it. We fucking did it!" He yells and Ada just lays there glaring at him and gasping for air.
"Let her go." He says and they undo her restraints.
She still lays down and slowly sits up, my wolf is howling to hold her. To mark her right here. She stares at her hands slowly and takes a deep breath as she looks up at Jeremiah.
"Well sweetheart. How do you feel?" Jeremiah asks and to my surprise she smiles at him. She'll always manage to surprise me as I watch carefully and see her fangs extend again as she lunges at him and pierces the skin in his neck. He screams before his brothers rip her off of him and start dragging her back to the cell, she's laughing maniacally the whole time.
"You've made my heart beat but I'm still here! His blood protects me!!" She screams as they throw her in and shut the gates.
Jeremiah groans and without another word they all leave and I'm left alone pacing against the bars just aching to touch her. Once their gone she doubles over in pain and clutches her chest holding her ripped shirt together.
"They actually fucking did it..." she whispers and spits out his blood in disgust in the floor.
I take off my shirt immediately and hold it between the bars,"Put this on please." I beg her and she says nothing as she grabs it, her hand touches mine for a second and I feel the electricity between our fingers. Can she feel it too?
"Thank you." Her sweet voice rings out and my wolf growls begging to mark her.
"Why are you showing your teeth at me?" She says as my eyes rake over her beautiful skin as she discards her ripped shirt and puts on mine.
"Stop looking at me like that." She warns me, her eyes are so beautiful.
"Come here. Are you hungry?" I hold my wrist out and she shakes her head.
"No. I don't want anything." She says and spits again, more of his blood lands in the floor.
"What's wrong? Come here please." I beg her and she backs away from me.
"What's wrong with you? Stop staring at me like that!" She screams and I can't help it. I reach farther in the bars not caring about the sting of the silver, my hand finds her shirt and I pull her towards me. She gasps when I press her against the silver bars but it doesn't burn her. I deeply inhale her scent and growl lowly awakening the wolf inside me.
"Let go of me!" She still has her strength and pushes me back effortlessly.
"You're my mate." I growl wanting to smell her again. She shakes her head.
"You hate me. I killed your brothers" she says and that pain comes in my chest again.
"I'll try and forgive you for that. Please. Come back please." I beg her and she shakes her head. The wolf in me is becoming agitated. He needs his mate. My claws extend again I growl loudly as I place my hands on the bars and feel them stinging me. My wolf is taking control and starts to bend the bars as she goes to the farthest corner and watches me in horror. I need my mate.

Letters from Shanti Ashram, India
I lived in India from 1984-2005, and wrote to my parents regularly about my adventures in Indian ashrams. From 1984-1993 and again 2001-2005, I was living in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, and I am adding all of those my "Letters from India" book, which will mainly be of interest to those familiar with Prasanthi Nilayam, the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. However, from 1994-2001 I was staying at a wonderfully spiritual, quiet retreat called Shanti Ashram, and I am putting the letters I wrote to my parents while staying there, on this book. The ashram was a dream come true for sadhana. The people are welcoming, it is usually never crowded, and they offer separate cottages to aspirants. The rates are donation basis only.
