《Control [Carlisle Cullen]》1.9

A shaky breath left Eleanor's lips as she stared in the mirror at herself. It was finally her wedding day.

She stood in her ivory dress, looking over her figure. Her hair was placed into a neat bun, with short pieces of hair framing her face. Her blue eyes popped through her minimal makeup and she smiled. She looked beautiful.

From the room she stood in, she could look out over the venue. She noticed the Denali family, as well as Benjamin and a few other vampires she hadn't seen since the battle with the Volturi. Her eyes scanned numerous faces, but she didn't see Carlisle.

She glanced behind her shoulder, catching a glimpse of Jess and Alice finishing their makeup. She was originally going to let Alice, Rose and Bella be in her wedding, but decided against it - especially because Carlisle didn't have any groomsmen.

Eleanor's mom sat by the window, and Eleanor reached over to place her hand on her shoulder. She smiled down at her mom, "you good?"

"Yeah," she smiled softly, "are you nervous?"

El shrugged and took a deep breath, "I feel like I should be but I'm not. I'm more excited than anything."

"You're not even worried about saying the wrong thing, or tripping down the aisle?" Jess asked from her seat.

She hadn't even thought about any of the things that could go wrong. Now that Jess had put the thoughts in her head, she began to wring her hands together.

"Now that's not gonna happen," Mrs. Stanley said, shooting her other daughter a look, "everyone thinks those things are going to happen, but they don't."

"Yeah, but she's walking alone so..." Jess continued.

"Jess!" Angela nudged her.

Eleanor knew she was only joking and shot her twin a dirty look, "when you get married, I promise I'm going to be there to push you down."

Light laughter echoed through the room, before a soft knock sounded on the closed door. Alice pushed it open gently, "hi! Are you ready Eleanor?"

"Yes," she grinned. Her palms grew sweaty and she could feel a pit of excitement form in her belly. This was it. She was getting married to the love of her life.

Jess and Angela gave their friend a quick squeeze before following Alice out of the room to get ready to walk. Her mom started to follow behind them, but Eleanor quickly grabbed her elbow and pulled her back.

"El, babe, what're you doing?"

"I-I wanted to ask you something," Eleanor said, nervously.

Her mom nodded at her, continuing to go on and Eleanor sighed, "well, I knew the plan was that I was going to walk down the aisle by myself but I don't think I can. And I always pictured having someone give me away on my wedding day."

Mrs. Stanley furrowed her brows, "what do you mean?"

Eleanor moved her hands down to grab her mother's and squeezed them, "will you give me away?"

Tears sprung to Mrs. Stanley's eyes and she released one of her daughter's hands to wipe them away, "I'd absolutely love to give you away, Eleanor."

Eleanor pulled her mom into a hug, looking up to blink tears out of her own eyes. Alice would absolutely kill her if she ruined her makeup before she walked. The mother and daughter embraced for a short moment, before Mrs. Stanley let her daughter go, "come on. We don't want to keep Carlisle waiting."

"Right, right," El laughed, grabbing her mom's hand once again, "come on!"

The two began their walk down the familiar set of stairs. Eleanor made sure to take careful steps in her heels, still not completely used to them. She didn't even want to wear heels but Alice, of course, insisted.

She could hear low music playing from the yard and knew it was close to the time where she would walk down the aisle to marry Carlisle. Just as they got to the door, Eleanor saw Jess turn to face the crowd and knew it was time for her to go.

"Oh my, God," Eleanor whispered, "you were right, I am nervous."

"Hey," Mrs. Stanley chuckled, turning to face her daughter, "everything is going to be okay. Carlisle is basically your soulmate, your other half, right?"

El smiled at how ironic her statement was, but nodded anyway.

"So why are you so worried? You're meant to be with him and it's going to be the most beautiful ceremony, okay?"

"Okay," El agreed. The wedding march began to play and El took a deep breath before facing forward again, "I'm ready."

Mrs. Stanley took the first step, encouraging her daughter to follow in her footsteps. She could see the very back row of guests from where they were and knew that they were getting even closer.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart, knowing that Carlisle and the rest of the vampires could very well hear it.

After another step, she forced herself to look towards the alter. There he was - her fiance.

He stood there with his hands crossed in front of him and a wide smile on his lips. His eyes locked onto her face, never straying for one moment. As cliche as it sounded, once she saw him, all of her nerves melted away.

The venue was very similar to Bella's with a few things changed here and there. Eleanor didn't even care what her wedding was to look like. As long as she was married to Carlisle at the end of it.

After what felt like forever, Eleanor and her mom arrived to the alter. Mrs. Stanley let go of Eleanor's hand after kissing her daughter's cheek.

Eleanor grabbed onto Carlisle's hands, smiling up at him. He looked over her figure before meeting her eyes again and smiling back.

"Welcome," the officiator spoke, though the couple's eyes stayed on each other, "we are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Carlisle Cullen and Eleanor Stanley."

The man spoke a few more words about marriage before focusing his attention on the pair in front of him, "please join hands. Eleanor, do you take Carlisle to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, to love, honor, and cherish, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

She smiled widely and nodded her head, "I do."

Carlisle grinned at her as the man repeated the same words for Carlisle, "I do."

"May we now have the rings?"

Eleanor felt Jess brush past her to hand the rings to the officiator, but she paid her no mind. She couldn't take her eyes off of Carlisle. She felt that if she should, she would grow nervous again and she didn't want that. He was her safety net, even now.

"Eleanor, please repeat after me..."

She dropped his right hand and grabbed his left with the ring in her own, "Carlisle, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and that I'm choosing to share my life's journey with you. I give you this ring as a pledge to love you today, tomorrow and always."

She gently slid the large ring onto his left ring finger, and squeezed the tip of it before she let go. Carlisle grabbed her left hand and took her ring from the officiator and began to say the same thing, "Eleanor, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and that I'm choosing to share my life's journey with you. I give you this ring as a pledge to love you today, tomorrow and always."

El could feel the familiar sting of tears in her eyes, but she didn't bother to blink them away. She could cry on her wedding day if she wanted to. And God, she was so happy that she couldn't stop the tears of joy if she tried.

"By the powers invested in me by the state of Washington, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Carlisle, you may kiss your bride."

The doctor stepped forward to cup Eleanor's face and kissed her more fervently than he had in all their time together. Eleanor could hear the cheers and claps from behind her, and smiled against Carlisle's lips before letting go.

They were married.

Eleanor's hands rested on the back of Carlisle's neck as he gently swayed them on the dance floor. They were in the middle of their first dance as a married couple.

The two didn't say anything as they swayed, and only stood looking into each other's eyes. It was as if they spoke with their eyes - their own language.

Eleanor still couldn't believe that she had finally married him. Finally. After all the shit they had been through, they finally had their happily ever after.

The thought made tears prick her eyes again and she quickly looked away from Carlisle's. He lowered his head and chuckled against her neck, "why are you crying?"

"I can't believe how lucky I am, Carlisle," she whispered, using one hand to wipe her eyes, "after everything, we're finally married."

"Well, I'd hope that's not something you'd cry over," he teased, causing her to laugh.

"It's amazing," El smiled.

"Yes it is," her husband mumbled against her skin. The song slowly came to an end and the married couple leaned away from each other for a moment. They knew that they had guests to entertain, but neither of them wanted to leave each other's embrace.

"Come on lovebirds," Alice sang as she walked up to them. Other couples were beginning to move onto the floor, "other people want to dance with you two."

Eleanor glanced at Carlisle once more, before letting Alice tug her off. She led her to Emmett, who had her laughing only moments after their dance began. But it ended too soon, and she was soon pulled into Jasper's arms.

She danced with Jasper, then Esme and even Rose before she was finally allowed to have a break. Though, it didn't last long.

Eleanor spotted Mike moving towards her through the crowd. She was shocked to see he had actually came, but was so relieved that he did. He gave her an awkward smile, "can we dance?"

She nodded, "of course."

Mike took Eleanor's hand and guided them to the dance floor once more. She hooked her arms around his neck and smiled up at her friend, "thank you for coming. I know this is weird for you - for all of you."

He shook his head, "I'm so sorry for over reacting like that, El. You found your person. I should've been happy for you."

Eleanor blushed at his words and opened her mouth to speak when he cut her off, "I don't even know why I acted like that, to be honest. He's a good guy, and as long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

"Thanks Mike," she stopped their movements to pull him into a hug, "I love you, you know?"

"I know," he grinned, "I love you too, Stanley."

The two separated after a short goodbye and Eleanor sighed before laughing to herself. Alice had been correct at Bella's wedding - they really do bring people together.

A short time passed and it was soon time for the speeches. Eleanor took a deep breath to prepare herself for what her friends and family would say. She knew she would most likely cry, but who didn't cry on their wedding day?

Jessica took the stage first and Eleanor sent her a reassuring smile. Jess returned it before unfolding a piece of paper, and clearing her throat, "hi everyone! I'm Jess, Eleanor's twin sister."

She took a deep breath, "throughout the years, El and I have definitely had our ups and downs, much like any siblings. We weren't the closest sisters growing up, but no matter what, we were there for each other. If one of us was hurting, the other would be there to comfort each other. If one of us was celebrating, the other was celebrating too. Our love strengthened our bond."

Eleanor smiled, already feeling tears sting the back of her eyes, "it is said that where there is great love, there is great miracles. I saw a miracle when Eleanor met Carlisle. It was like her whole world had opened up. She fell in love. It can give you hope and make you so optimistic which is exactly what happened with my sister. The love that El and Carlisle have for one another is truly special and I'm so grateful to be able to witness it."

Carlisle grinned over at his wife, watching as she wiped away the tears that had fell from her eyes. She looked over at him with a grin as she clapped. It was true - he had made her so much more hopeful about her future and her life.

Mrs. Stanley went after Jessica and stared down at her daughter with teary eyes, "I'd like to welcome you all today to celebrate the marriage of Carlisle and my daughter, Eleanor. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Eleanor's mom."

Eleanor grinned at her mother. She didn't know she was making a speech tonight, "I didn't plan on doing a speech at all, but then I realized that I needed to. My daughter has been the best thing to ever happen to me. But of course it was not always perfect. We disagreed as mothers and daughters sometimes do."

El chuckled at that statement how just how true it was. She tried not to argue with her mother before she had control over her powers, but sometimes it couldn't be helped, "But no matter what, we always loved each other and I knew that she would not be my little girl forever. Now that you are older and have grown up, know that while you may no longer hold my hand, you will always hold my heart. You are a woman now and a bride, a wife to a loving husband, but in my heart you will always be my little girl."

A tear dropped onto Eleanor's cheek as she clapped and she reached up to wipe it. Her mother walked to her table and leaned down to embrace her daughter. Eleanor squeezed her tightly, before letting go, "I love you."

"I love you too, Ellie," her mom kissed your forehead and reached over to squeeze Carlisle's shoulder before going to sit down.

Carlisle smiled at El before taking a deep breath and standing up. He walked towards the stage, smiling at guests all the way. Eleanor could feel herself becoming anxious, but she couldn't think of why. Maybe she was just anxious to hear what her husband had to say.

His eyes wandered the crowd as he began, "hello. I, first of all, want to thank all of you for coming tonight. I'd like to thank Eleanor's mom as well, for helping us prepare this wedding and being with us every step of the way."

Carlisle's eyes locked on Eleanor's and she could feel her cheeks heat up, "the biggest thank you goes to my beautiful bride, Eleanor. As Jessica said earlier, my whole world opened up when I met you. I have waited a long time for someone who made me love like you do. Our journey has not the smoothest, but every minute of it has been worth it because of you."

She smiled at him, feeling her eyes flood for the hundredth time. Her cheeks were beginning to hurt from how wide her smile was "And I know that, if I had to, I would go through it a million more times as long as you were by my side."

He raised his glass, "so I'd like to propose a toast to you, Eleanor, that our journey is filled with many more adventures. Forever."

Guests stood on the grass outside as they waited for Eleanor and Carlisle to exit the house. The reception had ended and now people were waiting for the couple to depart for their honeymoon.

Eleanor gripped onto Carlisle's hand as they walked towards the front yard. Their guests cheered when they exited the house and Eleanor grinned. She knew they only had a short amount of time before they had to leave, so she headed straight for her mother.

She threw herself in her mother's arms, burying her head in her neck. Mrs. Stanley closed her eyes as she held her daughter and sighed when Eleanor pulled away, "your speech was awesome. Thank you for doing one."

Mrs. Stanley smiled as tucked a piece of her daughter's hair back, "I'm glad you thought so. I would regret it if I didn't."

They stood in each other's arms for a moment more before Mrs. Stanley released her. She kissed her daughter's forehead, "go say goodbye to the rest of your guests. I'll be here when you get home."

Eleanor gave her mom one more hug, "I love you, mom."

"I know," she smiled, "I love you, too. Now go."

With a final smile, Eleanor went to say goodbye to her other guests. Benjamin and his mate had attended the wedding, and El made sure to speak with them before she left for her island.

She found the Denali family next. Their goodbye was short and sweet, and Eleanor was happy to see her friends again. She was glad they had been able to come.

Eleanor found Esme and Caleb. Esme wrapped Eleanor in a tight hug, swaying them back and forth. Eleanor managed to escape after a moment with a laugh, and wrapped Caleb in a hug next, "congratulations."

"Thank you," she nodded. She looked towards the other Cullens', "can you guys handle them while we're gone?"

"Of course," Esme joked back to her with a wink, "you guys go enjoy yourselves. You deserve it."

"Thank you, Esme," Eleanor hugged the woman again, "for everything."

She bid the couple a goodbye before walking off. Finally, with most goodbyes said, Eleanor found Jessica, Angela, Eric and Mike. The group greeted her with hugs and smiles.

"Are you ready to go?" Angela wiggled her eyes at the new bride and Eleanor laughed.

"Yes! I am not looking forward to the flight however," Eleanor grimaced at the thought of the ten hour flight, "but at least I can finally sleep."

"I'm sure you're exhausted," Jess said sympathetically, "you've been running around all day."

El shrugged, "oh well. This has been the best day."

"We're really happy for you, El," Eric spoke, giving the girl another hug.

"Who knew you'd be getting married first?" Mike joked and Eleanor reached over to punch him, "I'm joking!"

"Sure you were," Eleanor teased him, "but at least we all knew it wasn't you getting married first."

The group laughed at Mike's face but stopped when Carlisle appeared by Eleanor's side. She smiled up at him as he grabbed her hand, "are you ready?"

"You have no idea," Eleanor nodded. She turned back to her friends, "thank you guys so much for coming. I'll come see you right when I get home."

"No rush," Jess shook her head, grabbing Mike's hand, "you've got all the time in the world."

Eleanor beamed, "you're right."

Carlisle led her to the car they would be taking and opened the door for her. She took a look at the yard, memorizing as much as she could of their guests. They stood waving and cheering for the newly weds and Eleanor waved back for the last time.

She let out a sigh when they finally drove off and leaned her head on Carlisle's shoulder. They sat in the backseat, letting Emmett drive to the airport. Carlisle laid his head on top of hers.

The two were exhausted - even Carlisle, who didn't know he could feel exhausted - and were grateful for the rest they were getting. Eleanor thought about the upcoming weeks. They would be spending their honeymoon on Isle Ellie.

Eleanor wouldn't be changing into a vampire until she was ready. Honestly, she didn't see herself changing for a few more years. She enjoyed her human life, and at least wanted to graduate college before she became a vampire.
