《Control [Carlisle Cullen]》0.2

Carlisle led Eleanor through the crowd of people. The reception had only just started but people were already drinking and having fun on the dance floor. She stared down the guests, wanting to leave Carlisle's side and go party.
"Where are we going?" She groaned.
"I have some people I want you to meet," he said, and suddenly stopped, "Eleanor, meet the Denali family."
The girl looked around Carlisle, and studied the family that stood before her. They were all insanely gorgeous. All the woman shared the same looks - blonde hair and golden eyes - while the man had dark brown hair.
She was immediately intimidated.
"Hi," Eleanor stuck out her hand, "I'm Eleanor."
The woman standing next to the man stepped forward, and pulled Eleanor into a hug, "I'm Carmen. This is my mate Eleazor."
She released Eleanor, and pointed to the three blondes next to her, "this is Tanya, Kate and Irina."
Tanya and Kate gave Eleanor quick hugs, but Irina stood far from her. Her bright eyes bore into Eleanor's face, making the witch uncomfortable. She stepped closer to Carlisle.
"We've heard you've got some pretty special abilities," Eleazor said, looking at Eleanor with a piqued interest.
"Yeah," she said, feeling her face turn red, "I guess. Definitely keeps me out of trouble."
"Quite the opposite," Carlisle joked, making the group laugh.
Kate turned to her sister, "Irina, come meet Eleanor."
The other sister cautiously moved forward, "I can't."
"You promised us," Carmen said.
Eleanor glanced up at Carlisle, who looked just as confused as she was.
"Is there a problem?" He asked, tightening his grip around Eleanor's waist.
"They invited one of them," she spat, glaring at Seth behind her, "they killed Laurent. And you helped."
Eleanor's mouth fell open. Irina had been Laurent's mate, "I'm sorry, but I didn't help kill Laurent. He was going to kill Bella."
Irina scoffed, and shot Eleanor and her family a look, before storming away. Carmen turned to the couple with an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it," Carlisle shrugged it off, "it was nice to see you."
They watched as the Denali's followed after Irina. Eleanor released a deep breath, "wow."
"I hope she doesn't give Bella and Edward any trouble," Carlisle sighed. He looked behind Eleanor, "I think your friends want to speak with you."
"Oh no," El glanced behind her, catching the eyes of her school friends.
She would have to talk to them eventually, but she was too scared about what they were going to say. In their eyes, she was a nineteen year old dating a thirty year old. It didn't look good.
"Will you come with me?" She peered up at him.
"Of course," they began to walk over to them. Eleanor unwrapped Carlisle's arm from around her, and instead grabbed his hand.
"Hey," Angela said, trying her best not to eye their entwined hands. Mike, though, couldn't stop himself from staring at Eleanor with his jaw slack. Eric mirrored Mike.

"Hi," she was suddenly shy. She hated that she had hid this from her friends for so long, but how were they ever going to understand?
"What the hell is going on?" Mike asked, looking between Carlisle and Eleanor.
"I think it's pretty obvious," Jess rolled her eyes.
"Did you know?" Eric asked.
"Yes, she did," Eleanor answered for Jess.
"How long have you two been... together then?" Angela felt weird saying the words.
"Um," El bit her lip and looked at Carlisle, "I think the end of our junior year. So a little over a year."
"A year and three months, if you don't count the time when we left," Carlisle smiled down at Eleanor.
She smiled up at Carlisle, and then turned back to them, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I wanted to but I thought it'd be too weird."
"Why did Jess know and we didn't?"
"Because she's my twin, Eric," Eleanor frowned, "and because she kind of figured it out on her own."
"Of course she did," Angela muttered with a slight chuckle, "I'm happy for you, though, El. And you got a good one."
"I know I did," she squeezed Carlisle's hand, grinning at him again.
"We're very lucky," Carlisle added.
"Well, we'll leave you alone. See you," Eric waved at the two of them, and walked to the dance floor with Angela and Jess. Mike looked at Eleanor for another moment, before scoffing and walking off.
"That went sort of well," Eleanor said to Carlisle. Her heart dropped when Mike walked away from her. Can't win them all.
"He'll get over it," he kissed her forehead, "are you ready to eat?"
"Always!" She perked up at the thought of food, "I'm starving."
She slid down into her seat next to Esme, "how are you tonight?"
"I'm great, Eleanor," Esme smiled kindly at Carlisle's girl, "how are you?"
"Fantastic," she grinned. Eleanor eyed the plate sat in front of her. A small piece of chicken sat on a bed of rice. It was a simple meal, but it looked and smelt incredible.
She leaned into Carlisle, "can I start eating?"
"Eat all you want, love," he told her. Eleanor picked up her knife and fork and cut into the chicken.
"Holy shit this is good," she moaned. Emmett snorted, covering his mouth with his hand, trying to muffle his laughter. Rose looked at him with a blank stare.
Carlisle just rubbed Eleanor's shoulder, sharing a look with Esme. Esme raised a brow, and raised her glass to her lips to avoid smiling.
The low, classical music faded out. Eleanor frowned, and set down her silverware after finishing her meal. She wiped her mouth, then looked up to the small stage. Her eyes widened when she saw Emmett.
He tapped the microphone and cleared his throat, "excuse me? Is this thing on? Hello."
Eleanor wolf-whistled, and Emmett grinned, "I would like to propose a toast to my new sister. Bella, I hope you've gotten enough sleep these past eighteen years, 'cause you won't be getting anymore for a while."

The room fell silent. Eleanor's eyes connected with Carlisle's, who looked just as uncomfortable as the rest of the room. El pursed her lips to keep from laughing at the awkwardness of the situation.
"Jess is going up, Eleanor," Carlisle whispered.
"Oh, God."
"Well, Bella was just like everyone else," Jess started, smiling at the couple, "totally mesmerized by Edward. Or 'the Hair' as I called him."
Eleanor cringed as her sister finished her speech. She wished Jess wouldn't have said anything.
Charlie went up on stage next, "I know Edward will be a good husband. I know this because I'm a cop. I know things. Like how to hunt someone to the ends of the earth. I also have a gun," Eleanor laughed out loud.
"Are you going to go up there?" Esme leaned in and asked Eleanor.
She shook her head, and watched as Alice raised her glass, "I wouldn't know what to say."
El looked over to see Bella giggling. Her mum was currently singing her daughter a lullaby - which was slightly strange but Bella seemed to be perfectly happy.
"Excuse me," Esme tapped Eleanor's shoulder as she moved behind her chair. The woman made her way to the stage, and crossed her hands, "I'd like to thank Renee and Charlie for bringing such a wonderful person into the world and into our lives. We will cherish and protect her forever."
Esme walked past Edward on her way down, and pulled him into a short hug.
He stood in front of the microphone, staring straight at his new wife, "it's an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to, and who will accept you for who you are."
Carlisle looked down to admire Eleanor again. His hand moved around in his pocket as he tossed the ring box around, "No measure of time will ever be long enough. But let's start with forever."
El clapped for Edward, and reached for her glass of water. She was almost tempted to steal Carlisle's wine from him, but kept her hands to herself.
Slow dance music began to play again, and Eleanor stood from her chair. She held her hand out to Carlisle, "may I have this dance?"
"Of course you may," he laughed, and grabbed her hand. The couple walked to the dance floor, hand in hand.
Carlisle gripped her waist, and Eleanor wrapped her hands around his neck, "I don't know how to dance."
"Just sway to the music," Carlisle instructed, "I'll have to teach you proper dancing someday."
"Yes you will," Eleanor agreed. She leaned her head on Carlisle's chest, and slowly moved to the beat of the song. They moved in silence, but they didn't mind. It was comforting to be together - especially considering it was their first time in public together.
The song ended, and Carlisle pulled away from Eleanor, "Jacob is outside. Do you want to speak with him before Bella?"
Eleanor gasped, and nodded excitedly. She rushed to the backyard, and ran towards Jacob. Eleanor grabbed Jacob into a hug, "where have you been?"
"Northern Canada," Jacob mumbled. He buried his head in Eleanor's shoulder, "is she mad at me?"
"No, just disappointed. But she understands, Jake."
Jacob sighed, and pulled away, "you look great, El."
"So do you," she smiled, "are you staying around?"
"I think so. For now at least," she could tell Jacob was sad. It had to be hard for him to be at Bella and Edward's wedding.
"Jake?" Eleanor turned to see Bella and Edward.
She turned back to hug Jacob once more, "nice seeing you."
Eleanor waved frantically, watching as the newly wed's limo drove away. The reception was finally over, and she was ready to crash.
"Eleanor!"
The girl walked over to Jess and Angela. Her sister embraced her, "we had a lot of fun tonight. Tell Bella."
"For the record, Eric and I are cool with Carlisle. Mike's going to need a bit more time. It was weird to hear that you're dating someone thirteen years older."
"Well thanks," she grinned, "you guys took it better than I thought you would."
She bid them goodbye, before returning to Carlisle. He turned away from her, "walk with me."
El frowned but walked after him. Carlisle led them through a short path in the woods, away from all of the guests. Leaves kept brushing her face, leaving the girl frustrated and annoyed, "are we nearly there?"
"Just be patient, Eleanor."
She huffed, but quietly continued behind him. A couple steps later, Carlisle came to an abrupt halt and turned to face her, "do you trust me?"
She tilted her head with an amused grin, "yes?"
"Okay, then give me your hands and close your eyes," he instructed. Eleanor held out her hands for Carlisle to take, and closed her eyes. Carlisle stepped backwards, pulling Eleanor along.
He dropped her hands when they broke through the trees, but told her to keep her eyes closed. He had brought her to a small area. Rocks were stacked up neatly, with small candles rested upon them. The two stood on a large pile of roses.
Carlisle dropped to one knee, "you can open your eyes."
Eleanor's mouth fell open when she looked down at Carlisle. She could feel her heart speed up in her chest. This was definitely not what she expected - this was so much better.
"Eleanor," Carlisle's voice was shaky as he grabbed her left hand, "I have waited three hundred years to find my soulmate, the love of my life. And now that I have found you, I don't plan on letting you go. Will you marry me?"
She opened her mouth to answer him, but no words would come out. She settled for nodding her head like a madwoman. A grin spread onto both of their faces, and Carlisle stood. He brought Eleanor's lips to his own, and kissed her deeply.
"I love you."
"I love you."

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Authors Note: If you find that the dialogue from the prologue to chapter 5 seem to be not that smooth, I apologize for that, it was my first time writing a fanfic so the dialogue was not in a format that is ideal. However, due to reader comments and some research I will try to attempt to improve the dialogue from chapter 6 and onwards. I may or may not come back to edit the first few chapters since I would have to rewrite most of it and I would rather spend that time writing out more of the story.
