《Rosalie》10

"Rosie." Seth was waiting for me as I arrived the next evening at work. He was propped against the bar with a notebook, scribbling away. He didn't look up as I neared, tossed my bag into the office and returned to eyeball the paperwork scattered about my clean bar. Folders were piled high in neat piles across the wooden bar and a whiskey sat close to Seth's writing hand. It's honey like colouring glistening in the light of the club invitingly. Seth obliged by taking a sip and tapping his index finger thoughtfully against the glass in a slow tap, tap, tap rhythm. Frowning, I take a closer look and seeing Olly's name printed in neat type sends a flutter through my tummy.

"Is that the contract?" I ask.

"Yes," Seth sighs, glancing at me before returning to his reading. His voice calm and distant. "The final draft. I just need to sign the damn thing."

"What's stopping you?" I pull up a stool, ignoring the dancers who had just arrived. Their laughter echoing through the empty halls.

"I'm not completely happy with giving away something precious to me." He mumbled with a small blush once the young women were out of earshot. His voice and posture alone revealed his inner struggle. Under his eyes were dark, his body hunched and tense and his hands restless as he fingers the whiskey glass in both hands. The pen now forgotten for the moment while he shared his thoughts which was out of character for a man such as Seth. He revelled in being dark and mysterious, most alpha's were, and since the morning I woke up naked with him in the woods it was the first time we had spoken. Part of me wanted to ask the questions that had been nagging me since running my fingers through his hair but getting the words out proved difficult. Now tongue-tied I settled for keeping the discussion where it was.

"The club is our home, Seth. Of course giving part of her away is hard." He looks at me for the first time since I entered the club and after a moment of being distracted by how blue his eyes were I continued with a stutter. "But this is how new alliances work, no?"

He nods and sips his drink, closing the folder and stepping away from the bar. His towering presence made me suddenly feel small and the sense of vulnerability made the colour of my cheeks brighten at the enormity of his size as my eyes flicked to his cock. Which was hard to ignore when you were almost nose to lower stomach with the man! Restrained behind a pair of dark suit trousers I licked my lips and flushed at the whimper that slipped from my throat. A throaty growl urged me to look up and piercing blue eyes stared down at me in erotic warning. Biting my lip I take a step back, remembering who I was intended to be with.

Seth's lips curled up at one side at my discomfort and he crossed his large arms over a broad chest. His black turtleneck stretching to emphasise his stocky build. "You're staring." He growled, stepping closer.

"I'm sorry." I gasp, moving my eyes to the floor. My hands shaking I thrust them into my jeans pockets. Why was this happening to me? What was it about him that made me crazy? Olly was a wonderful wolf and Seth was a pretty playboy! Not to mention he has a certain human to entertain himself with.

He says nothing at first. We stand toe to toe just listening to each others rapid breathing, racing heartbeats and basking in the light, heady musk of our scents entwined. Until he broke the silence with something I never thought I would hear.

"Don't go Rosalie." He mutters under his breath. Confused, amazed and, I must admit, turned on, I stare into those ocean blue eyes. Searching for reasons he would have for wishing me to stay.

"What happened last weekend?" I murmur, but I knew he could hear me as clear as he could hear my heart racing in time with his.

"You don't remember." He states rather than asks. His body tensing once more and his lips thinning in discomfort. Shaking my head I run my hands through my hair baffled. "I don't. I wish I did. Please tell me!" I begged. "I woke up with you in the woods, naked and that's all I know. I was confused so I went home." The word vomit kept coming in a ramble as I try to explain myself. "I was going to ask sooner but..." I stopped as images of Seth thrusting manically into Foxy as she smugly waved at me that day in my office brings me down to reality faster than a punch in the gut. The air from my lungs is sucked out all over again as my heart ached for something I'd never had.

"You saw me with Foxy." He finished grimly as he notices me backing away. I nod and he clears his throat running a hand through his thick dark hair before attempting to take my hand. I move it out of reach and he stills but doesn't mention it.

"What happened, Seth?" I repeat firmly.

"After the hunt I saw you taking a drink from a small stream. I joined you and we ran a while. We simply slept, Rosalyn. I would never mate with you without your full presence. Surely you know me better than that."

His voice was pleading and sincere and I instantly relaxed. At least now I knew the man respected me enough to keep his hands to himself. "I'm sorry you saw what you did. It was a spur of the moment thing and you know how Foxy gets."

"Can I make a suggestion without you being offended?" I seem to startle him with my immediate burst of confidence. His eyebrows narrow but he agrees with a nod. "You can do better." I say, taking my leave into my office and closing the door behind me.
