You might have guessed that, while I did have a lot of fun, I didn't always make the best of decisions. Sometimes I made downright stupid ones! I have been lucky in that I never got into too much trouble for any of them. Oh, I had my drivers license suspended a few times. I had 23 speeding tickets by the time I was 18. I went to jail for 5 days because I didn't get my dog a license. (I know! Even the cops look embarrased when they find out that one of their own actually arrested me for that!) My mother kicked me out a few times... but all in all, I've been extremely lucky.
I'm not a bad girl! Just umm... mischievous? So, I hope you wont judge me too harshly for this next story. As for any law enforcement officers reading this... It is past the statute of limitations! Sorry! >¿

Okay, so a friend of ours - well actually, I barely knew her. But, she was a friend of a friend of mine and she was having trouble with her new 'pre-owned' BMW 320i. It had been one problem after another since the week she bought it and she was beside herself. One might even say she was a damsel in distress! I can't turn away from a damsel in distress! So, of course we to help her!
We decided that what she really needed, was for her car to be stolen! So... That's what we planned to do!
We picked up her car in the evening. The plan was that we would keep it in my garage overnight. The next afternoon, we would head down to Mexico. Chris had a 'vacation rental' in La Bufadora which is just south of Ensenada. She said it was not being used, as it needed some fixing up first, so we could put it in the driveway there and nobody would notice it for months. The owner of the car would call the car in stolen only after we crossed the border into Mexico. Good plan!

We picked up the car, but the next day didn't go as smoothly as we might have liked. We needed to find some friends to follow us there to give us a ride back. Yes, of course we could have just followed each other, but where is the fun and excitement in that?! Besides, everybody wanted to go! All we had to say was, "Hey, we're gonna steal our friends car for her and take it down to Mexico. Anybody wanna come?"
Anyway, by the time we got going, there was no way we were going to make it to Chris's place by nightfall, so we decided to get a room in San Diego. We called the girl and told her we would call her in the morning. Then she was to wait one hour and then call the police to say it was stolen. That would give us time to cross the border first.
That left Chris and I with a nice hotel room and time to kill in a brand new city. Hmmm... What to do...
