- Some strong personalities can be your biggest allies. Especially those with experience and influence (clout). No need to suck up. Be yourself. However, it's important to take criticism from strong personalities. They can become your mentors.

Withhold the snide comments.

- Why? They're not worth it. Focus. Be objective. Remember your goal.

Be a mentor.

- Don't withhold your knowledge/expertise from others who can learn from you. Remember that you want to climb up. Bear in mind that you will need an ally and potential candidate for your position when you move upwards. Find someone who is trustworthy.

The most ideal workplace is a gender neutral environment where both men and women support each other equally and fairly.
