gray waits in front of a mahogany door

hoping it would open so he wouldn't have to knock anymore

a boy with brown hair appears

all cheekbones, all jawline, all undeniably handsome

gray forgets why he had even come

gray introduces himself, to which bellamy returns

gray tells him of the heart who anika yearns

"she's never left."

"she comes sundays, sleeping with others on the rest. sometimes she disappears for weeks, but she always came back. always on a sunday. with the stain of love from a time before. i don't mind; she's good, and she said that was all that mattered."

"we don't matter, gray. none of us matter. not to her."

but what of her confession? her love so strong it nearly killed her?

"a lie. all lies. it's all she's good at. lies, lies, lies. you see this bruise, all blue and nice? it's what happens when i dare to confess love. i've said it so much – with tears and without, naked and clothed – and every time i'm beat. every time, gray. leave her now, before you've drowned like us."
