《Friends Don't》Chapter Eleven

A total of four hours of sleep. That was all I got because Lana wasted time talking about Grayson and Tyler, and then her and Derek, before we ever got to finish studying. We fell asleep shortly after and it wasn't until the morning, when I missed my alarm and had to rush to get ready for class, that I got to skim over my notes for Calculus.

"Someone looks awfully tired this a.m.," Grayson said as I passed by him on my way to my seat.

I turned giving him a look before heading to my chair noticing some girl was sitting in it. "What is this?" I spoke calmly, letting out a sigh as if in defeat.

She looked up at me. "Oh, I'm sorry. Is this your chair?" She frowned. "I can move."

I shook my head. "No, it's okay."

"You can sit here," I heard Grayson call out to me.

I turned around to see the chair directly in front of him empty. Before I had time to look for another empty chair the professor began talking. "Could this be any worse?" I mumbled under my breath as I slumped down in the chair.

"How lucky are we sitting together," he whispered in my ear.

"Not in the mood for your shit today, Grayson," I said flatly, causing the guy beside him to start laughing.

I heard him move in his chair before he started whispering about who knows what to the guy beside him.

Once the hour was up and the test was done I let out a sigh of relief. It wasn't hard, but I was still mad that Grayson didn't tell me about it sooner.

"What's got you in such a bad mood today?" Grayson asked coming up beside me in the hallway.

From the corner of my eye I could see that same guy walking beside him. "I'm tired and you."

"Me? Why me?"

"Because you didn't tell me about the test."

"That's what you get for sleeping," he said almost in a childish voice as if making fun of me. "Tsk, tsk." He tapped the end of my nose.

I swatted his hand away. "Don't touch me."

He pulled his hand back. "Damn, someone's cranky today."

"I'd probably be in a better mood if you kept your nasty fingers out of my face. I don't know where those have been."

"I don't know. You tell me," he said and started rubbing his hands all over my face. He started laughing and part of me wanted to laugh as well, but I didn't want him to know that.

I tried, against his will, to pull his hands off me. "Stop, you're so gross!"

His hands fell to his sides as we stepped outside. I picked up my pace and he called after me, "where are you going?"

"Away from you, and to take a nap," I yelled back and paused before yelling again, "and possibly a shower."

Getting away from Grayson happened, a shower happened, but a nap did not happen. I have no idea what our neighbors were doing but it sounded like they must have been putting some type of furniture together; with the electric drill, a banging of some sort, and the constant cuss word in frustration. I was glad when they finished. It only took them roughly two hours, but I was glad.

But now I was passed the point of being tired enough to sleep. I had a growing headache and I was starving.

I popped an Advil in hopes to kick this headache before it got worse, and then headed for the small closet to change into something warmer than my booty shorts and crop top. The last time I ran out in shorts and a t-shirt I was freezing, but the anger I felt towards my mother didn't make it seem so cold outside, this time though was different.

Before I had the chance to change the door opened and Lana yelled, "I've got burgers!"

I spun around quickly; from the scare of her yell and the excitement of hearing she brought food. "Give it to me," I exclaimed with a wide grin as I looked at the bag in her hands.

"Gladly," I heard Grayson say, and when I looked over at him he was looking me up and down before his eyes met with mine.

"I'm going to ignore that," I told him and then grabbed a hoodie and slid it over my head. I grabbed the box Lana had held out to me and plopped down on the couch opening it up to reveal a juicy burger.

"Pretty sure a guy has never even got you this excited," Lana said. She must have been referring to the way I stared down at the burger in my hand as if it was the best thing my eyes have ever seen, and the way my mouth curled up just slightly, but I mean it did look extremely delicious and I was starving.

I took a big bite and a pleased moan escaped my lips. I let my body fall to the side right into Grayson's lap. "Show me a guy that can even compare," I told her.

Grayson looked down at me disgusted. Maybe it was that I talked with a mouth full of chewed up food or the fact that I waved the burger in the air just at his face.

"As much as I love your head where it is, babe," he began as he pushed my hand away from his face, "I hate burgers."

I looked up at him shocked. "What's wrong with you?" I took another big bite as I glared up at him and he looked down at me, his face scrunched up in disgust. I pointed up at him. "Somethings wrong with you," I mumbled through a mouth full, again.

"Stop," he groaned looking away and then back down at me and I was grinning at him. He shook his head.

I pulled myself back to a sitting position and finished my burger at arms length. When I was finished I crumpled up the wrapper and tossed it across the room. It hit off the pizza box, thankfully sliding down and landing in the trash. Yes, we needed to empty the trash.

"So, Lana, what are you doing tonight?" I asked her.

"Derek and I are going to a movie."

"Oh okay."

"Why?"

"Just seeing if you planned on staying here. But it's okay. I'll be bored alone."

"We'll be back after the movie. He's staying over."

"Oh yay," I pretended to be happy, "just what I want, to hear you two banging all night."

She huffed. "That is not going to happen.'

It was around eight thirty and I was sitting on my bed, with my back propped up against the wall. I was watching some TV show that I'd never heard of before but it was somewhat interesting; like in the way that you wouldn't think you'd watch it but somehow you couldn't stop watching it.

A knock on the door interrupted the guy talking in the scene and I blew my breath. I got up and opened the door to see Grayson standing there smiling down at me. "What are you doing here?"

'Can't I come see you just because?"

I moved over and allowed him into the room, shutting the door and focusing back on the TV as I made my way back to sitting on my bed. "Shouldn't you be busy?" I asked him.

"Doing?" he asked as he sat down beside me.

"How am I supposed to know what you're latest victims name is?" I asked, glancing quickly at him and then focusing back on the show.

"Shut up," he said and then it fell quiet before he said, "what are you watching?"

I shrugged. "No idea."

Then it became quiet again as we both watched the show, only a few words said here and there such as; "What's that?" "No idea." and "Is that normal?" "Doesn't look it."

After time we were both leaned up against the wall, sitting fairly close together, and covered up in a blanket. Our eyes were still fixed on the show. A few more words being exchanged like; "I don't think that's supposed to happen." "Me either." and "Should it be like that?" "I don't think so."

"What the hell are you two watching?" Lana's voice filled the room.

"I don't know," Grayson and I said simultaneously not tearing our eyes from the screen.

Then without warning the screen went black. "Hey!" I yelled at her, not even noticing that she had walked right up to my bed and grabbed the remote from beside me.

She tossed the remote onto the couch. "Have you two, seriously, sat here all night watching that."

"Obviously," I told her.

"Out of all the things you two could have been doing tonight."

"Like what?" I asked, and she wiggled her brows. "Oh, shut up, Lana. We're friends."

"Okay," she sang and plopped down on her bed.

"Can I have the remote back, now?" I asked her.

"Nope," she said popping the "p".

My eyes narrowed at her though she couldn't see since she was staring up at the ceiling. "And why not?"

"Because that show was weird."

I groaned and moved to get up and grab the remote, but Lana shot up to a sitting position and stared at me from across the room. "Don't even think about it."

I placed one foot on the ground and Lana's brows raised while my eyes narrowed. "Ellie."

I leaped from the bed and raced towards the couch, Lana doing the same. She snatched up the remote, hiding it behind her back.

"That's not fair. Your bed is closer to the couch," I told her.

"Not my problem," she said.

I walked back to my bed dragging my feet the whole way. "You're so annoying," I mumbled.

"What was that?"

I crawled back onto my bed and faced her. "I said, you're so annoying," I spoke louder and more clear.

"You know you love me," she said as she got back on her bed and looked at me with a smile.

"I'm about to send you back to Farah."

"Why you gotta hit me where it hurts?" Lana frowned and then snuggled up to Derek who was laying on her bed. "She's so mean to me," she whined into his chest. He patted her back and stifled his laugh.

"Oh, shut up," I told her, knowing full well her being upset was all an act.

"Goodnight," she said, and then sang, "I love you!"

"Yeah, yeah, I love you, too," I said.
