《Friends Don't》Chapter Ten

I skipped class and I'd been laying in bed all morning. Lana was supposed to be coming over with lunch and my stomach wasn't being patient. Okay, maybe my whole self wasn't being patient, but that's beside the point.
There was a knock on the door and I jumped up running over. "Why are you knocking?" I asked as I swung the door open excited to see food, but my face fell. "What are you doing here?"
"Nice to see you, too, babe," Grayson said stepping into the room without even being invited in. "I'm upset with you, Eleanor."
"I thought you were Lana with the pizza." I sat on the couch and looked up at him. "And don't call me that."
'What? Babe or Eleanor?"
"Both." I laid back with my head on the arm of the couch and my feet laid straight across it. "Now, why are you upset with me?"
He grabbed my ankles lifting my legs up, then sitting down and putting my feet in his lap. "Because you went to Tyler to let out your frustrations with some angry sex. You could have called me. I am your boyfriend, after all."
I kicked the inside of his thigh and he grabbed my foot quickly. "Woah, watch it."
"Believe me, if I was aiming for it I would have hit it."
"What's up with you, two anyway?
"What do you mean?"
"Well, last I checked a one night stand consists of only one night."
I shrugged. "I guess it was a two night stand."
"That's not a thing."
"Well, it should be."
"So, what? If you two hook up again should we just call it a three night stand, then?"
I reached my leg back ready to kick him again, but he grabbed me before I could do anything.
"No," he said holding his grip around my ankle. "I know you're aiming this time."
A small grin spread across my lips, one to let him know he was right. I was aiming.
"So, what's got you so mad?" He was focused on me completely waiting for me to speak.
"Because my mom doesn't give a shit about me. I think my dad might, kind of, but my mom only cares about herself. She wants me to get back together with Jared because his parents have some business and my mom wants us together and married so they can merge." I rolled my eyes, something I felt I was always doing, but I guess people and events in my life just called for it. "Or something like that. Honestly, I don't know the details because I don't care to and when she talks about it I zone out. But I know the two businesses together would be something huge, but I'm not going to be unhappy the rest of my life so that she can be happy." I didn't notice until I stopped talking that he was rubbing circles with his thumb across my ankle.

"I take it that relationship didn't go too well, then?"
"No, and I don't want to talk about it, either."
"Okay, so should we talk about me being a delinquent or the placement of this tattoo you have?"
I laughed. "Just ignore whatever my mother says. You're not a delinquent, she's just dumb. As for the tattoo, we're not talking about that either."
Just then the door opened ending our conversation. "I've got the pizz," Lana paused, "a." She was staring between the two of us and down at my legs and his hands.
I pulled my legs away from him and sat up as her and Derek walked inside. "Finally." I grabbed a box from her and opened it up diving right in.
"A whole box? Are you pregnant or something?" she questioned me.
"You know I like food," I mumbled through my mouthful.
"I know and you don't even gain weight. It pisses me off," she said.
Grayson reached for a piece and I swatted his arm away to which he looked at me with eyes wide. I glanced at his pouting lips and my shoulders fell. "Fine."
"So, what's up with you two being boyfriend and girlfriend?" Lana asked as she chewed.
"Lana, don't talk with your mouth full, it's rude." I took a sip of my water.
"Oh, shut up," she said and we both laughed. The guys looked at us like we were idiots, though. "I mean, obviously you two aren't dating. You would have told me, right?" She eyed me as if to make sure I still told her everything.
"We're not dating." I laughed. "His mom just assumed we were and I didn't feel the need to correct her because she looked so happy that her player son finally had a girlfriend."
Lana and Derek started laughing.
"Shut up." Grayson huffed.
I turned to him. "You shut up." I hit his hand with the back of mine almost knocking the slice of pizza out of his hand.
"Seriously?" He hit my hand back.
"Don't hit me." I softly shoved him.
He lightly shoved me back. "Don't hit me."
"You're right. You don't act like you're dating. You act like you're married," Lana told us.

We both turned to her at the same time and simultaneously said, "shut up."
"So anyway," she began completely ignoring us, "El, you're not busy tonight are you? Because I really need your help tonight."
"With what?" I asked as I got up and threw our empty pizza box in the trash, only the trash can was too small and the box just balanced on top leaned against the wall.
"Studying. We have that test in Psychology coming up."
"Okay. I don't have any plans. I can help you."
"Thank you!" She sighed in relief. "The guys can leave us alone for the night and go do whatever it is they do."
"Or whoever it is they do," I said eyeing Grayson.
A dry and short fake laugh escaped his lips, almost mockingly. "Good one."
"I thought so." I gave him a smug smile.
"Oh, and by the way, Ellie," Grayson began looking up at me from his place on the couch, "don't forget there's a test in Calculus tomorrow."
"What are you talking about?" I could feel the anxiety rushing through my body. "Are you being serious, right now?"
"Yes, and you would have known that if you weren't sleeping during class," he said.
"How do you know I was sleeping during class?"
"You sit a few rows in front of me."
I really hoped no one had seen me sleeping, but I mean was that really possible in a room full of students?
"You were sleeping in class?" Lana asked shocked.
"I was tired!" I tried defending myself. "You could have told me after class, you know."
"Me?" His eyes widened. "Every time I get near you you have some snarky remark."
"Well, you came to my room alone today didn't you? Or did you just happen to find your balls on the way over."
"See!" He pointed at me. "That's what I'm talking about."
"Well, that's just great." I threw my hands in the air and let them fall, slapping against my legs.
"I thought you didn't need to study?" Grayson questioned as he leaned back and rested his one foot over his thigh.
"I don't." I inhaled deeply and let it out. "I just like to refresh my memory."
Later that night the guys had left leaving Lana and me alone to study. We were sprawled out on Lana's twin size bed as we went over our notes for Psychology. I still couldn't believe Grayson didn't tell me we had a test in Calculus.
So, not only did I have to help Lana, which I didn't mind at all, but I also had to go over my Calculus, as well.
"You and Grayson seem to be getting along better," she said, her focus still on the papers laid out in front of her.
"Better? Is that what you call it?"
She dropped her pen and rolled onto her back. "Yeah, you two would be so cute together."
"No."
Her head shot to the side and she stared right at me, well, more so into the side of my head as I tried to focus on studying. "Oh, c'mon. You don't even get the slightest tingle when he's around you?"
Now my head shot down at her. "What?"
"Not even just a little?" She started grabbing my sides as she laughed.
"Stop." I wiggled around to get away from her, but couldn't help but start laughing right along with her.
"I slept with Tyler last night," I told her when our laughter died down.
"You what?" She propped herself back up on her elbows and stared at me waiting for all the details.
"Yeah. It probably wasn't a good idea, though."
"Why not?"
"Because I was just letting out frustration and so was he."
"Oh," she cooed while wiggling her eyebrows. "The best kind."
"Lana."
"What? Angry sex is hot and rough."
"You're awful." I chuckled. "But not wrong."
