I saw it again. That creature or something. I don't know what is it but it's everywhere. I told my friends about it and they told me it's in my head. Maybe they are right. I must be going crazy. I should just ignore it.
"Hey." Someone whispered. Is it that thing? No, It can't be. It's not. It's not.
"You can see me." It is. It is. I tightly closed my eyes.
"Excuse me." Whatever it is, it's really polite. I looked at it. "Thank you. You can see me right?" I nodded.
"Good. I actually need your help." I shaked my head.
"You won't help me?" It asked.
"It's just a hallucination. It's just in my head." I started muttering.
"No no. It's not just in your head. I am real. It's just that only some people can see us." It said.
"Us?" I asked.
"Yes. There are a lot of us. I was with my family but I got lost. And no one could see me so I couldn't ask for directions. By the way I am Stacy." It said.
"Stacy? You have such a-" I said. It looked at me questioningly.
"Such a normal name." I said. "Where do you have to go?" I asked.
"Here." It gave me a piece of paper. "I know this place. I turned on my laptop and typed in the address. "See?" I said. "And by the way I am Monica." It smiled.
"Thank you Monica. I will forever be grateful for this. If you ever need me for anything feel free to call me. I will come help you. I have many powers I can even see the future." It said.
"Sure." I said. "You should pay special attention to your friend Chandler by the way." It said winking and disappeared.
What did she even mean by that? Special attention? To Chandler?

Riposte
Noël is known across the city of Portland—and not by choice. Under the care of the richest man in the city and just transferred to a new high school, she's already making close friends... and bitter enemies. A chance encounter on her first day plunges her headfirst into a secret underground tournament. Between suspicious classmates and utter strangers, Noël soon gets a taste for the addictive rush of the duel, but questions of love and trust complicate every move she makes. Cutthroat games with grim consequences await her in a shadowy world of competitors all dueling for the greatest prize imaginable. A new story from Etzoli, that one butterfly who writes things. This is a side-adventure I've written during the pandemic, as I've been having a lot of trouble getting into the correct head-space for writing my main series (The Last Science). Expect some rougher bits. Schedule is sporadic, but this will be a shorter one (closer to Snipe or Epilogue in length). I hope you enjoy it! "System Notice: For the safety and anonymity of the participants, the system has chosen participants from all over the wide world. It's recommended that you don't share any of your personal information. The cultivation world is treacherous, devils and saints walk the same path. Happiness turn to tragedy overnight. The only permanence is impermanence."Zheng Jie stares at the screen with a strange expression. What is this "system", and why is it necessary to remain safe and anonymous?
