《Princess Of The Underworld》29| What Magic Feels Like

"What just happened?" Evie thought aloud after a few seconds of silence.
"No idea." Mal and I said in unison as we all ran forward towards where we had last seen Maleficent.
"Did I do that?" Mal asked herself, as we all looked around.
"Oh no, no, no, no, no!" I looked up to see the Fairy Godmother unfrozen and running our way, "Your mother did."
The Headmistress then pointed to the ground and I squinted to see a small purple lizard on the carpet, "She shrunk to the size of her heart, that's why she's so itty-bitty."
My jaw dropped as I looked at the small creature, that just a minute ago had been a fire-breathing dragon. That was Maleficent?
Mal handed ms the wand as she knelt down to look at her mother, "Will she be like that forever?"
The Fairy Godmother sent her a small smile, "Forever is a long time, dear. You learned to love," She glanced up at where Evie had her hand on Mal's shoulder, "So can she."
I then held the magic wand to the woman, "I think this belongs to you."
The Fairy Godmother smiled, taking the wand from my hands. She then knelt down, picking up something from the ground.
"And this," She held out Ben's ring to me, "Belongs to you."
I smiled at her, slipping the ring back onto my finger.
The Headmistress then smiled at us, "You all have earned yourself an A in Remedial Goodness."
I laughed, throwing an arm around Carlos. This had sure been one hectic coronation.
The Fairy Godmother winked at me before swinging the wand over her head, "Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!" Sparks flew around the room, and soon everyone was unfrozen.
Ben let out an animalistic roar, running towards us, still thinking Maleficent was still here.

I put my hands against his chest, stopping him from running me over, "Calm down, Beasty Boy, we got it under control." I chuckled, nodding back towards the rest of the VK's.
Ben looked down at me for a second, before pressing his lips to mine.
I was shocked, I could only hear the sound of my own heart beating. I soon found myself leaning into him, my hands finding their way to his shoulders. Is this what magic felt like?
At the sound of applause and Jay wolf whistling, we pulled apart. Though I wanted to kiss Ben over, and over again until my lips were numb.
"We should do that again, soon." I told him, fumbling over my words, energy coursing through my veins.
He nodded at me, his hands tracing over the tops of my arms, "Very soon."
I smiled at him, glancing over his shoulder to see Jane getting scolded by her mother.
"I will be right back." I whispered to Ben, forcing myself to part from him, and turning to face my purple-haired best friend, "Mal."
She nodded, following me over to where Fairy Godmother and Jane stood.
"I love you, but you are on a serious time out." The Headmistress told her daughter as we walked up.
"Don't blame, Jane." Mal spoke up, placing a hand on Jane's shoulder, "We were the ones that put that crazy stuff in her head."
I looked at the brown-haired girl, taking her hand in mine, "Jane, you are so, so beautiful. Inside and out, and if a guy can't see it, that's his problem."
Mal smiled, "Yeah, you're mom got that right."
Jane looked over at her mother, "I did get pretty lucky in the parents department."

I nodded, sending them a smile as I walked back over to Ben.
He grabbed my hand, pulling my closer to him, using the other hand to tilt my face up, "Now where were we?" He began to lean in, but stopped when someone spoke up.
"Hi, sorry, I just have to fix this-" Evie appeared next to me, reaching up and putting Ben's crown sideways, before stepping back and smiling, "There. Now you're cool enough for our girl."
I chuckled at her, turning around to see Mal instructing a staff member who was putting Adam's spell jar on top of Maleficent.
"Be careful," Mal told him, "That's my mother."
We all laughed, the gang walking over to Ben and I.
"Well," Jay said, slinging his arms around Ben and Carlos, "Let's get this party started!"

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
