《The underworld king》Chapter 17.) Be happy

In all my years of living, I've never felt so peaceful. Right now, wherever I am, I feel no pain and no stress. No heartbreak and no anger. I just feel at peace.
My vision clears up and the darkness is wiped away. I'm standing in the garden by the pomegranate tree. I'm alone and its dark out. If I'm dead then this really isn't the heaven I imagined.
"Where am I?" I say to myself.
"The middle."
I turn around and widen my eyes as a beast like creature with horns comes out of the darkness.
"Who are you?" I ask taking a step back.
"I am Thantos, the god of death."
"So I'm dead," I conclude.
"Not yet." He says," If you want to live I will let you, but know that when you go back you will no longer be human, you will be immortal and your soul will be bound to Hades forever."
"And if I want to die?"
"Those trees will lead you to the fields and that peacefulness that you felt, will be your eternity."
I close my eyes and breath,"How do I get back to Hades."
He shakes his head,"Humans. I'll never understand you. Very well then. Go to the stream and go all the way under when you come back up. You'll be with him again."
"Think about this Hades." Persephone says backing up," She was just a human. She was meant to die."
My body shook with fury as I still held a dead Lela in my hands. Many different methods of torture flew through my head as I gazed at the scared nymph in front of me, but nothing could inflict the same amount of pain I was feeling on her.

She didn't deserve mercy.
She didn't deserve death.
She deserves to be punished.
"I'm sending you to the fields of punishment."
Her eyes go wide and she rapidly shakes her head,"No Hades, please! Anything but that."
The fields of punishment were a place designated for people who did crimes against the gods. The place itself would feed on your worse fear and use it to pick the punishment adequate for your crimes.
"Goodbye," Is all I say before sending her to her eternal damnation.
"Aidonous..." A weak voice calls to me.
I turn around and see Lela's bright eyes again, although tired, they're still as beautiful as they were when I laid eyes on her.
"How?" I say picking her up into my arms,"I saw the life drain out of your eyes."
"T-thantos..." She says weakly before closing her eyes and sighing,"I missed you."
I pull her close to me and listen to her beating heart.
"Why?"
"Because you deserve to be happy." his voice says behind me,"You've lived in the shadows of your brothers for too long, nobody is really your biggest fan, and you pulled the short straw in life, literally. I wanted to do this for you."
I turn around to face him, horns and all,"Thank you, if you ever need anything just ask."
"Hmm." He says,"I might have to take you up on that. Don't take what I did for granted, protect her and care for her."

Hey guys,
Sorry about the long wait for this chapter but I wasn't sure how I wanted it to end.
The book is not over yet, I think only one chapter to go...

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
