"Wow." I say."Your mother must really be grateful to have been put here instead."

Hades wraps an arm around me and pulls me closer to him,"I don't have all day, where is she?"

"Always and will forever be impatient, won't you Aidoneus?"

Hades scowls,"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Hades."

She blows him off,"Aidoneus is the name I gave you and it's the name I'm going to call you." Her attention turns to me," A human? But she's living why is she here?"

Hades pulls me closer to him and his grip tightens," This is Layla, my wife."

"A human?" She says her tone laced with judgement,"You picked a pet to be your bride. I expected this much from Zeus or Poseidon, but not you."

"Layla isn't the reason we came here." Hades growls," I'm here about Cronus."

She stills,"What about him?"

"Is. He. planning. To. Escape." He says darkly

She scoffs and messes with a flower," How am I supposed to know? My own son keeps me locked in this prison-"

"It could've been a lot worse." Hades snaps.

"Not the point." She says," he said in my many years here, I've seen so many souls from different places in time and it makes me miss the land of the mortal and mundane."

"I know you still have loyalty to him."

"He's my husband!"

"He's a monster!" Hades shouts and the paradise we are in starts to shake.

I grab onto his arm tightly and he takes a deep breath and calms down.

His mother sighs," You're so much like him."

"He's nothing like him." I cut in before I can stop myself.

Her gaze narrows on me,"Humans should not meddle in the affairs of the immortals. It's not right and it's not natural."

"An immortal in the land of the dead isn't natural." I snap not backing down from her.

"I can break you in halves without even lifting a finger."

" I'd like to see you try."

Hades steps in,"Mother, have you communicated with Cronus."

"You know I can't contact your father from here."

"Don't call him that. He's no father of mine."

"He is and you can't change it. I honestly think if you just-"

"Goodbye, mother." He says and before I can blink we're back home.

"Are you okay?" I say taking his hand.

He looks down at it before shaking me off,"I'm going to have a drink. Go back to the room."

I follow him," Hades, just talk to me."

"I said to go to the room." He growls lowly.

I roll my eyes," I'm not afraid of you."

"Well you should be." He says backing me against the wall," You know what he did, and you heard what my mother said. I'm just like him."

"You're not your father," I say," You care about the people you love and you aren't afraid of not being the one on charge."

"Stop acting like you care."

Now that hurt.

I slap him but end up hurting my hand and he seems unfazed," If I didn't care about you, I wouldn't try to understand you and wouldn't feel personally offended when someone says you're something that you're not. So don't try to tell me that I don't care, you selfish bastard."

He looks at me shocked for a second," That was unexpected."

"I'm full of surprises."

"So I've learned." He says," Does this mean you'll stop fighting me."

"I stopped fighting you a while ago." I shrug," But you can't keep me locked in."

He places a finger under my chin," I'll take you somewhere tomorrow. Go get some rest, and tomorrow we'll go wherever you want to go."
