Chapter 1:
THIS is it...
I peered over the cliff and take in a deep breath.
That looks like a far drop
Of course it is!
Thats what I'm here for. I just need to drop and the pain will only last a little while. My hands start to sweat as I grip the metal railing thats in between me and death.
Why am i even doing this?
"No one will care if you die! Go jump off a bridge. I wish i never gave birth to you!"
Oh thats right..
"You're such a fat whore. Why would jason want you. My dad and his dad have been friends since birth so our marriage was pretty much set in stone. Go roll in the mud you pig."
Oh and that too.
Now i remember why I'm doing this. My whole life has been nothing but ridicule from my mother and my peers. All my mother ever does is sleep around with guys who are lowlifes.
My dads not any better. He left my mom and sometimes sends us money but refuses to come let me stay with him saying it'll 'mess up his new marriage'.
I had thought i had finally found someone who cared about me until i realized everything was just a bet. He wanted Sarah, and i was just a joke.
I wonder if i do die will any of them care.
Probably not your worthless remember
I shake the thought. This is about me not them.
Is it really!
"Yes!" I hiss.
Great now I'm talking to myself.
Pretty sure I've lost it.
I take a deep breath and step over the silver railing. My feet are only a few inches from the edge and my death is clear in view.
Jump! Are you afraid.
"No!" I hiss.
I grip the railing and lean forward my upper body off the cliff.
Just let go!
My hands start to loosen and just when I've found the strength to let go. Something catches my eye. I try to ignore it but it seems to be calling me. Telling to hold on, postpone my death.
Yeah right! Chicken...
Everyone should be scared of death...
I go along the outside of the railing until i get to a semi steep rock and i begin to climb down. After a few scrapes, i land down on my feet to the only area here thats really grassy.
The grass is swampy and wet, and the air around me got cold. I shiver and start to walk closer to the mysterious object i saw. As i get closer i notice its more of a structure.

Its takes on a kind of a gazebo like shape. It has columns with rectangular indentations going horizontal made of marble just like the rest of it. I step closer and realize there is writing on the floor.
"Calwarth tunder ethforde woinkgld." I say trying to translate this foreign language.
The ground starts to shake and pieces of the structure start to crumble above me causing dust to arise. I cough and shield my eyes with my sleeve trying to see my way through to the exit.
I start to move towards what i think is the moon, but something wraps around my leg pulling my down. I shake it but it won't budge i move my hand to it but something grabs that and i am tugged lower until i fall to the ground.
I look down and notice that the thing holding me down are black vines. The floor starts to crack and i feel myself slowly start to sink into them. I scream for help but no one will come.
Isn't that how you wanted it?
Tears prick my eyes as i realize this is the way i was going to die.
Trapped in a tangled mess of enchanted black vines. The world starts to dot out as i am pulled deeper into the crevices of the earth.
As if it was magic the vines flow from my body and back to wherever they came from, but my joy was short lasted when i noticed they have dropped me in a foreign location.
I take a look at my surroundings and notice I'm in a cave of some sorts. The walls are stone and looked like they were carved out of the earth, but they were well lighted by torches hanging on the wall.
What the hell.
A dark red mist covers the room and I immediately black out.
When i finally regain consciousness i notice the place i am in isn't even remotely close to a hospital or my bedroom.
"Hello?" I say into the darkly lit room.
With no response i take a moment to take my surroundings. The room i was in was small, the bed touched both walls and a mirror sat beside it with a chandelier dangling close by. The walls were black illuminated by lamps that were nailed to the walls. I looked down and noticed that my clothes had been changed from the frumpy stuff i was wearing to a dress that grips like a corset at the top where the red is but flows out at the bottom to black.
What the hell
The door handle jiggles and in a quick panic I fall off of the bed and roll under it. I can see the light of the door shine in the room, I hear the slap of his feet against the dense wood and I see them walk around the room I can even smell the fresh polish wafting from them and then the feet abruptly stop.

"Where is she?" A deep velvet voice bellows.
I hear tiny feet get louder before a shrill squeaky voice answers,"I don't know master? The human was in here the last time i checked i promise."
"I don't care about your promises!" He snarls,"I want to know where she is and how she got away."
"We had guards on the door all day, master, it's impossible that she escap-" The voice tries to explain but is cut off by a hand on it's throat.
"Don't tell me what is impossible when the evidence is right in front of you!" He growls.
"I...i don't kn..know where the... the girl went. Apologies master." The voice wheezes out through struggled breath.
"Keep your apologies. For your insolence." The man says,"You will pay the consequences with your life."
"No master!" The thing shrills.
I couldn't handle it anymore, even though i have no idea what's going on, i can't let someone else die because of me. I roll from under bed and jump up hesitantly
" No, please don't kill...it?" I say getting a look at the creature.
It was a sickly dark green and had tiny horn like things sticking out from his head. It was about three feet tall and sharp teeth protruding from the corners of its upper and lower lip.
But the man...
The man was beautiful.
But dangerously alluring at the same time.
Without breaking eye contact with me the man drops the creature to the ground at his feet and growls a low 'leave us' causing the whimpering thing to scurry out of the room.
Now it was just me and him.
"Do you know who i am?" He says lowly to me causing of shiver of cautiousness to swarm me.
"N..no." I say shakily wanting to take a step back but fearing his retaliation.
He raises his hand and the room starts to shake around us causing the stones in the ceiling the fall. I shriek and cover my head as one comes hurling towards me but to my surprise it just stops a few inches above my head and rolls to the ground almost as if there was an invisible umbrella above me.
The shaking ceases and when i look up the room looks like nothing happened. Everything was still in its place like there wasn't just a tiny earthquake.
I look up at the man and he gives me a smile.
But it wasn't a kind one.
No, it was more feral...like a lion stalking a zebra.
"I am Hades...god of the underworld."
I wanted to not believe him but from what i just saw and the unnamed creature i saved, it had to be the truth.
"Wh...wh...why have you brought me here." I whisper taking a small step back that didn't go unnoticed by him.
The first thing that popped in my head was that i had died.
He takes a few steps closer to me,"I have brought you here because you summoned me."
The alter and it's foreign language.
"I..i didn't mean to.. i was just playing around." I say stuttering and fumbling over my words.
"Don't worry, no harm shall come to you. You're now mine." He says
"Yours..?" I gulp taking a few steps.
He lowers his voice and his eyes take on a deadly glare," Yes Lela. Mine. Those words that you so foolishly said were words of an ancient marrying ritual...to me. I wasn't always so feared...women used to offer themselves to me all the time using it, but i would send them back because i didn't want them...but you Lela... i. Want. You."
"No.." I whisper to myself," This is all a mistake. I can't be married i..i.. I haven't got a chance to live yet."
"You didn't seem so keen on living when you were standing on that cliff."
My voice gets caught in my throat," You know about that..."
"I know about many things. Like i know that you're mine." He says the last part darkly," And i'm not letting you go. You are now my wife in the sense of human terms."
"No.." I start to hyperventilate and run for the door but he catches me easily and pulls me tightly to him.
"Yes." He growls," Now sleep, my darling, we'll resume this conversation when you're well rested."
And i have no choice but to go limp in his arms letting darkness consume.

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
