《Hades - God of the Underworld》Chapter Two

Victoria could feel electricity fill the air, it made her heart pound and turn her body cold. Something ached in the pit of her stomach.

Hermes let go of her as if she burned and hastily created a considerable amount of distance between them.

"Uncle, it's not what it looks like." Hermes protested quickly, Victoria furrowed her eyebrows at the words and spun to face this mysterious man. As she did so, the dizziness and nausea came back, vertigo overtook her body. Her feet tripped over themselves as she turned around. Panic sprung as she felt her body crumble, the earth spinning underneath her feet.

The last thing she remebered was pain in her arms as big hands grabbed them to steady her. The scent of sandalwood and musk somehow comforted her heart as she slid into the world of unconsciousness.

Victoria's body felt light when she woke up. As if she could float in the air. She sat up and looked at her surroundings.

The room was magnificent. Black and gold marble covered the floors, the walls and pillars were gold. Paintings covered the walls of nymphs and naked men and women in dramatic poses. Golden pillars reached high into the ceiling and in the center of it was a beautiful skylight. Coming down from it was a huge chandelier, the crystal ornaments sprinkled tiny rainbows across the room.

Victoria sat up in confusion at the unfamiliar place. And breeze made her shiver. That was odd. It felt like there was enough pale skin for her to feel the cold.

She looked down at her body and realised that she was only barely clothed. Her heart started racing and she saw that her body was draped in a soft ad silky pale blue cloth. It seemed to hang from her neck and barely cover her breasts, trailing down her body and the excess fabric seemed to drape of the bed in a pool of blue. The item of clothing was also completely backless, fabric only coming to join just under her lower back. What the hell was she wearing? Her shoes and socks were missing, as was her underwear.

At least the bed beneath her was comfortable. It was a single bed she noticed and peered under the mattress. And realised.

This was no bed, the gold marble seemed to grow into a beautiful carved pedestal on which she had lay upon. As if she were a piece of art on display.

The last thing she needed was to be surrounded in a glass box. Victoria thought wryly to herself.

Three women walked into her room carrying towels and bows of steaming water. One was holding a wooden box tightly as if she was struggling to carry it.

"Good evening my lady." The one in the middle said, the were all dressed in what looked like white robes, the fabric seemed to stop at their ankles and showed leather sandles adorning their feet. Gold jewelry wrapping itself around their wrists and further up their arms."We are your personal maids and will be serving you during your time here in Olympus. My name is Alexandra, to my right is Edith and my left is Orla." The three women curtsied.

Victoria was confused. Maids? Olympus?

"I'm sorry," she said slowly, still trying to come to terms with her surroundings and what the situation was, "I don't quite understand. I think there was a mistake."

The girl Orla stepped forward and placed the bowl of water on the table. It was soaked with rose petals.

"My lady, we have been instructed by our King to prepare you for a meeting. He says that all will be explained to you them. Our King says that you mustn't fear nor worry for you are in the safest place in the universe and that you will be well looked after." Alexandra said, still in her curtsy.

Victoria frowned. Faintly recalling her old history lessons as a child. Learning about the gods that the ancient Greeks worshipped. She was in Olympus. As in Olympus mountain? The home of the gods?

"My lady?" Alexandra asked, she had a worried expression on her face at the sight of Victoria's frozen body. She had noticibly paled at the words of the maid.

"I'm in Olympus?" Victoria asked.

"Yes my lady, you were brought here last night in the arms of King Hades." Edith exclaimed with a smile on her face, she placed the wooden box that she was carrying on the same table as the rose petal water. The maid blushed as she recalled what happened. "It was the most romantic thing to see!" She squealed, clapping her hands together in excitement.

A pit dropped in her stomach. Hades. If Victoria remembered correctly, he was the God of the Underworld no? This was not good.

"Oh good god." Victoria said, steadying herself as soon as she realised. Finally coming to terms with what she was surrounded by and who she had encountered.

"My Lady!"

She didn't know which of the maids had exclaimed in worry as all three of them dashed toward her. They supported her as Victoria got up and walked to sit on a chair. "Are you alright?!"

She nodded. "I think I might be in shock." She whispered.

A soft warm and damp towel was brushed along her forehead as the maids started cleaning the sweat off her body. All Victoria could do was sit and stay silent.

Soon she was cleaned, the wooden box was opened and an Amber scented perfume was selected and applied to her skin. The maids combed her hair and and braided it into an elegant updo, decorated with small pearls that looked like stars against her dark hair.

Edith opened a smaller box, inside revealed beautiful jewellery covered in expensive jewels and diamonds.

"Do any of these catch the Lady's eye?" she asked. Victoria's throat dried out as she stared at them. She shook her head.

"I can't wear any of these."

"These are from the King Hades," the maid whispered, "the finest jewels to ever exist as they come straight from his realm. They are a gift for my Lady."

This was the weirdest experience of Victoria's life. The King of the Underworld had gifted her expensive jewels.

"Um," panic rose in her chest, "I-I better not."

The maid curtsied and hesitantly closed the box and put it away.

A little makeup was applied to her face and before she knew it, a man had knocked on the door and escorted her through the building.

They arrived in a beautiful grand Hall. It seemed as soon as she stepped into the hall, all noise faded, the people inside stopped and stared at her.

In here, everything was golden and seemed to gleam under the light. Chandeliers hung like massive sculptures from the ceiling and torches were carved with beautiful flowers. A red carpet lined from the door to the end of the room as if a path was created for her to walk down. It crossed down the middle of the hall and parted the crown of finely dressed people in groups of two to eight. She scanned through them, hoping to find Hermes.

He was standing at the front, grouped with a couple other people, one man and woman. The two men were wearing silver armour. Helmets under their arms. The woman was blond and wore a white dress adorned with olive leaves. They were all staring at Victoria.

Her skin prickled at the attention, alert and very aware of the stares that bore into her face and her body. At the end of the hall, there were a few steps that led to three magnificent gold chairs. Atop them sat three big men.

Her eyes widened at them, the one in the middle reminded her of Hermes. He was gold. His deep blonde hair, the tanned skin, the eyes. The one to his left was a brunette. Light brown hair framed his face, brilliant blue eyes contrasted with his brother, a faint smirk on his face as he regarded Victoria. In fact. Both men seemed to be smiling as if they were anticipating something.

The last man made Victoria to freeze in her spot. He was the only one in armour. She stared at him. His strongly defined jaw looked sharp enough to cut through granite. His bottom lip was slightly more fuller than the top, despite his clean shaven jaw, the shadow of his beard still showed through his olive toned skin. Straight angular nose and thick, well shaped eyebrows that matched the colour of his hair and added to this wicked, seductive charm that seemed to surround him. Her stare followed the slight shadow of his high, structured cheekbones before realising that his coal black eyes were staring at her. Victoria felt like an animal being auctioned away as he surveyed and examined her. As he did so, his facial expression turned darker and darker, a black fury seemed to overtake his eyes.

Her blood ran cold as she tried her best not to flinch.

Whispers filled the hall. Yet Victoria heard nothing as she stared at the man in front of her. Her heart was pounding, her breath shallow. Fuck he was so addictively handsome, she couldn't stop staring.

"Victoria." A familiar voice sounded from beside her and gave her a fright. Her head whipped around to look at him as saw Hermes smiling warmly at her. He picked up her icy cold hand and kissed it. "I'm glad to see you're doing better. Come, I have a couple of people for you to meet." he offered his arm for her to take. When she accepted, he led her to the people he was talking with. She could still feel the man's glare on her as she headed towards Hermes' companions.

"Miss Aldridge, this is Athena and Apollo." Both smiled at her, immediately Victoria gave them a curtsy. Athena was the lady that was wearing the white dress with olive leaves, her brown hair was braided above her head and curs rolled down her back. Grey eyes greeted her warmly. The man had dark brown hair and a sharp jawline, his gold eyes were friendly.

"Oh no," Athena protested, "an equal has to no need to bow to another."

"It is so lovely to meet you my Lady." Apollo said to her, he also kissed her hand before grinning at her.

"You two are really playing with fire," Athena narrowed her eyes at the two men. "How do you know how he's going to react?"

Hermes smiled a cheeky grin. "well that's what we're trying to find out. My uncle is a mystery to read unless you test his patience."

Athena shook her head in amusement.

"it's nice to meet you Victoria," Athena shook her the hand that wasn't in Hermes' arm. "I'm sorry for what's going on, I'm sure you must be quite scared and confused."

Victoria smiled hesitantly. "Thank you, I'm still not entirely sure about what's going on." She turned to look at the room of people, they all seemed to be chatting and were casting her looks every now and then looking away as soon as they realised she was noticing. "Three maids came into the room I slept in and everyone keeps calling me 'Lady'."

"Ah yes," Athena smiled at her, "you'll have to get used to it. I believe you will be staying with us for a while."

"What am I doing here?" Victoria asked, before anyone could reply, the hall went silent. Wondering what was happening, she turned to face the front and saw that the man with the blue eyes had stood up.
