《The Underworlds Hero》Revived Project

Ok, I'm gonna point out a small thing in regards to this chapter if some of you are anime only fans or have not gotten up to date with the most recent chapter folks. This will hold a slight spoiler warning for a characters origin story in canon. Sorry if you hate those, but it's kinda gonna be imperative for what goes on in this chapter and onwards. Enjoy.
It's been about a few weeks since the entrance exams. Thanks to everyone's hard work, we all were accepted into UA's hero course. Kinda stunk we weren't all in the same class since Kendo was put in 1-B, but what can you do. Recently, I've been coming across a few more monster like humans with the same characteristics as one I did before. They all had a lack of brain power, their heads top half was missing for their brain to be displayed, and they had more than one quirk for some reason. Knowing that there wasn't any other quirks that could give others quirks besides mine and dads, I began to dig a little in it. "Common, just a bit more." I decided to hack into my fathers old work computer in secret to find anything possible.
"Alright, were in." I began looking through files after files for anything that could make sense. But each one showed nothing of what I wanted. "If I were dad, I would keep it somewhere hidden, but in plain view." I look at some of the more easier files to see a small link to a document. I click on it to have it bring me to a site that needed a pass code. 'Didn't expect this to be so easy, so lets get going.' I spent the next half hour trying to hack into the link to finally get through. "Now that that's done, lets see what your hiding." I looked at the file to find it was an old test called 'Project Rebirth'. 'Says here, Project Rebirth was made as a way to give heroes that died an early death the chance to come back. Dad would take one or two bodies to use in this and repair dead tissue and jump start their brainwaves again.' I scrolled down for most of the information to be gone. 'Dammit, he wiped it!' I kept scrolling down until I saw a name and a picture.
"Shirakumo Oboro. Quirk: Cloud Burst. Died as a second year in UA due to collapsing debris. Head was crushed and died instantly." I kept reading down for a few reports of prognosis and tissue restoration along with a quirk mutation and alteration. Once I got to the bottom, the last of the information was blurred out with the last line being the only thing visible. "Kurogiri. Quirk: Warpgate." The last bit of the information was gone with the final words 'Disbanded' put on it. "What did you do dad? Ahhh! This is so frustrating!" I throw my head back on my chair to look at the ceiling. "What was Project Rebirth? From what I read, you succeeded in it. So why did you scrap it?" I start to get up to walk to my closet. "I have a few hours before school starts. I'll pay dad a quick visit before heading to UA."
I began to enter into the hallway to see it rather quiet. 'Guess the fact I'm here early may be a part of this.' I went to text Momo saying I'll be at the hospital and heading directly to school afterwards for her to not worry about me. Once I enter the room, dad hears the door open to turn his face to me. "Dad. It's Izuku." "Izuku, always a pleasure. How are you?" He smiles at me while I take a seat next to him. "I've been well." He turns to my general direction and stops smiling. "Something's wrong, isn't it?" I held my head down before saying what I wanted to know. "Dad, what was Project Rebirth?" "...Why did you go into my files Izuku?" "I found something that had more than one quirk and almost no brain function that didn't make me to think it was anywhere close to a human, so I dug into your old files. What is the project and who is Shirakumo and Kurogiri?" "...Lock the door."

I do as he says before sitting back down. "The fight with the successors of OFA was a troubling one. Each successor had harmed or killed many heroes with the next taking more than the last. It came to a point I felt I should do something more. Project Rebirth was that option. It would give the pros that died a new chance at life and possibly save more lives in the process. I made sure to get written consent from any and all volunteers next of kin to try and give them some help. Shirakumo was one of them. He died protecting kids from crushing boulders far too young. So as a way to help him and his family, I had tried to bring him back. To do this, I had to mutate his original quirk and restore tissue that was nonexistent." "Did it work?" "We brought the dead back to life, yes. But we failed to bring Shirakumo or any other subject back fully. You see, we were unable to bring back the mind that was once the person. Shirakumo was the only person that actually had a personality at the end of the project."
Dad began to get chocked up a bit. "We didn't bring back human lives, we created monsters with absolutely no mind of their own. Shirakumo was the only slight success. But whenever we would try to have him regain his old memories, it was like his brain could not support it. In the end, we gave Shirakumo a new name and a home. We told his family the project failed and cremated the remains of his belongings as a way to give them his ashes." "What happened to the other test subjects?" "Dead. They weren't even human anymore, but I was the only one that should've stained their hands. They died, and I sent the ashes of their remains to their respective families as an apology." I sat there silent before he continues. "Believe me when I say this Izuku. We aren't gods, were just people who had no right trying to unweave the threads of life." I start to stand up a bit before speaking. "Thank you, I'll see you again." "Your welcome, and please ask me next time you wish to find something out." "I will." I shut the door still confused about everything. 'If these things are from the same type of research, then who's pulling these strings? An old researcher that was spiteful? Never mind this, I'll be late for school.'
I began to walk into the class to hear shouting from inside. "Get your feet off of that desk this instant! It is a disgrace to our upperclassmen and the people who made it!" "Did your old school put that stick up your ass, or were you born with it there four eyes?" "How dare you insult me in such a fashion! My name is Tenya Ida of Somei academy, and I would prefer it if you use it!" "Huh, an elitest. I'll enjoy blowing you to bi-" I levitate Kaachan with a quirk I obtained some time back. "Get the feet off the desk Kaachan and stop fighting with our classmates." I put him down for him to place his feet back the way they were. "Woah, aren't you the guy that took out the zero pointer?" "I saw it, he obliterated that things head off like it was nothing." "He truly is dazzling. He even helped mademoiselle Recovery Girl heal a few people." I began to sit down behind Kaachan with Toga behind me. "Fighting with classmates on the first day before homeroom, I'd say that's a record." "I think it is." I smirk at Toga's comment with all of us sitting down.

The door slowly opens with all of us not paying attention. "Good morning Mr. Aizawa." Everyone stops what their doing to look at where I'm looking. "As sharp as ever. Not bad Midoriya, not bad at all." He starts to walk in and stand at the podium. "Hello, my name is Shota Aizawa and I will be your homeroom teacher." He takes out 20 uniforms before continuing. "Put these on and meet me outside." We do as he says with me being the first one out. "I heard you visited your father this morning." I held my head down and nodded. "How long does he have?" "...A month at the longest." "I see..." Out of everyone that I know, Eraserhead knew my anger the most out of everyone. My dad was one of the only people who saw potential in him growing up from what I heard. To him, dad was like a father he didn't have that always was there to help and provide assistance and wisdom when needed. Eraser respected dad, and dad respected him. "I'm sorry Izuku. You shouldn't have to deal with this." "It's not your fault. We just need to work with what we have right now."
The class starts coming out in their uniforms with Mr. Aizawa telling us what we're doing. "Today we will be doing a quirk apprehension test." "Uh, sir. What about orientation?" "UA allows us to teach our own curriculum and annul what we think is irrelevant. In mild terms, I can teach my class however I want. We have three years to turn you into heroes, we don't have a second to waste. Midoriya." Mr. Aizawa hands me a ball. "What was your highest throw in middle school?" "70 meters." "Good, now use your quirk." I nod before going over to Uraraka. "Uh, what's up?" I extend my fist to her with her giving me a fist bump out of confusion. 'Requirements were made.' "Care to tell your class a little about your quirk." I walk to the circle before explaining to them. "My quirk is called All For One. I am the son of the former Underworld Hero AFO and hold the same quirk. Well, not entirely." I activate Zero Gravity on the ball and use Muscle Augmentation to increase it's speed since I was a little impatient. "I can not only take and give quirks, but I can also mimic them for a minute with the same skill set as the original with all the information loaded in my head by just touching someone." I chuck the ball out of sight with everyone thrown back a little by the wind created.
"The quirks used were Uraraka's Zero Gravity, which cancels all gravity on an object, and a Muscle Augmentation quirk that enhances my muscle fibers to insane levels. The result was as you saw." Mr. Aizawa holds his phone up to show my distance as infinity. "Is that even possible!?" Everyone was amazed before Mr. Aizawa spoke up. "You will be doing 8 tests today to see how well your quirk increases your physical skill." "This might be fun." "Fun you say? Then how about this, last place gets expelled." Everyone's eyes went wide at this. I could tell that some didn't find this fair. "If any of you think he's unfair, trust me when I say the world is not fair. I'm a prime example of someone that knows that." The ones that know of AFO or my family situation held their heads down. The only people that know of AFO still being alive to this day are top ranked pros like Endeavor and Ingenium, so I did not expect many to know my reason. "With that said, let's get on to the tests, shall we."
"Alright, so I won't explain how everyone did in the tests since that will take too much time. So up top is your placements." Mr. Aizawa shows the places up on the screen.
"Oh and about the whole expulsion thing, I lied." A lot of people started to freak out at this while he starts to smile. "It was a logical ruse to get you all to do your best." Mr. Aizawa walks away while finishing speaking with us. "Theirs syllabuses in the classroom, make sure to grab one before you leave. Class dismissed." He walks away with everyone looking at me. "What? I got a hickey or something on me?" "Don't what us man, your the son of one of the most badass pro heroes in existence!" A blond boy that was called Kaminari shouted this. "Yeah, I'm the son of the immortal one as they say. Lets have a party. Who brought the red solo cups?" I say this rather sarcastically with only a few understanding why. "I've got somewhere to be, so I'm heading to change. See you all in class."
Once I was done changing, I began to walk to the class to get the syllabus and walk out. I started to walk to the hospital dad was at. Since he was near his end, I tried to make it a point to visit him as much as possible. It hurt going there, but it hurt more knowing that if I don't go there regularly, I may not get the chance to see him before he dies and fulfill his final wish that he still hasn't told me. "Hey, Midoriya!" I turn around to see Uraraka run over to me. "You mind if we walk home together?" "Sorry, but I'm not heading straight home." "Well that's ok. Do you mind if we still walk together then?" I shrug my shoulders as we keep walking. "Nice job getting first. Your quirk really is amazing." "Thanks, but it's amazing because I was mimicking and using some quirks that were specified for that task." "Well I still think it's cool." I smile a bit at this with her getting a bit red.
"So uh, about what we did when we came back from the entrance exams. I wanted to, you know...apologize." I stopped to remember what she did with the feel of her soft lips on mine. I began to turn red at this with her just rambling about how she was very emotional or something at that moment and did it more out of gratitude. "...Did you not like it?" My mind came back to reality when she looked at me confused. "I'm sorry?" "I asked, did you not like the kiss?" I turned back to red thinking this before answering. "I-I don't think I didn't if that helps." She began to smile as we made our way into the hospital. "Wait, your going into a hospital?" "Yeah, to see my dad." "Do you think he'd mind if I come along?" "Nah, but expect a lot of girlfriend jokes from him and a couple bad dad jokes." She snickered a bit with me checking us both in.
Once we got to the door, I stopped to turn to her with a pained face. "What your about to see is probably going to be very intense for you." She nods and prepares for what she's about to see. I open the door to s dad sitting in his hospital bed with a little radio next to him on. "Hey dad, it's Izuku. I also brought a friend with me." "Ah, good to see you've made a friend Izuku. As your father, I was worried that you aren't hanging around enough people." "Swing and a miss dad." "At least I still can crack them." Uraraka started to snort at this one. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Midoriya. My name is Ochako Uraraka." "You sound like a nice girl Uraraka. If you wish to date my son, you have my support." We both go red at this with me speaking up. "DAD!" He just chuckles away with us taking a seat. We spent the next few hours talking about UA and our first day along with some embarrassing childhood memories of my past thanks to dad.
Once some time passed, I began to stand up to say my goodbyes. "Well, sorry to cut this short dad but I need to get home before Mr. Yaoyorozu starts sending the government to find me." "Alright, take care. Also, make sure to practice safety Izuku. We don't want you to have a baby at age 15 now would we." "DAD!" He continues to laugh with us exiting the room. "Your dad seems to be a nice guy." "He can be kinda embarrassing sometimes." I smile at this before Uraraka speaks up. "I found out from Bakugo about the tumor in him. I'm sorry." I remained silent as we walked out. "Thanks again for having me here. I'll see you in class tomorrow." "No worries, and I'll see you tomorrow also." We go our separate ways with my mind really worried about dad. I started to feel tears fall off my face while thinking about him. 'Please dad, don't leave me. Don't leave me alone like mom did. I know it's selfish, but I don't think I can handle it if you left me too.'
And that finishes this chapter folks. So for the Nomu, they will originally be a project meant to do good in the story. But someone got something and used what they shouldn't have to renew the project. I'll add more to the new Nomu later on, so please be patient for this. Hope you all enjoyed and thanks for reading.
