Taehyung stood at the main entrance of the school building, looking outside at the heavy rain pouring down on Seoul. And when I say heavy, I mean heavy— it would only take two seconds for a person to get soaked up and Taehyung had no umbrella with him.
This day was such a pain in the ass.
With a deep sigh, Taehyung adjusted his backpack on his shoulders again and then walked out—
"Wait, shorty!"
Or he did not, when a familiar voice called out for him. He turned around to see Jeongguk walking towards him. "You shouldn't walk through the rain."
Taehyung was stunned once more. Who was this Jeongguk? And what happened to the Jeongguk he had argued with this morning.
"It's fine, I'm not living far from school—
"I know, but you still might catch a cold. Take this." Jeongguk handed him something. A thing that Taehyung really needed right now. An umbrella.
And he couldn't believe Jeongguk just gave it to him.
"N-no, it's okay. You live farther than me—
"I actually... don't," the ravenette spoke, scratching the back of his head.
"Oh yeah, right, you moved houses." Taehyung nodded to himself, eyes falling to the umbrella. "Anyways, take the umbrella and go home, I'll just go like this."
Taehyung pushed the umbrella back into Jeongguk's hands and then turned around to finally step outside, awaiting the cold rain to hit his clothes and seep to his skin.
But it never happened. Not even when he was ten steps away from the school building already. He looked to his side, shocked. "What are you doing?"
Jeongguk grinned, holding the umbrella between him and Taehyung, walking with him under it. "I'm going to walk you home, so you don't get wet."
Taehyung felt something swirl inside of him, but he covered it with a scowl. "You don't have to," he grumbled, heart acting up for obvious reasons.
This shouldn't be happening, because Jeongguk was just going to be gone tomorrow again.
Taehyung believes, that what is happening right now is nothing more but a post-effect of being locked up for three hours together.
"I'm being nice, just accept it."
"That's what I don't understand? Why are you being nice?" Taehyung was looking down the whole time, watching his shoes get soaked with the cold rain water, as the question rolled past his lips.

"Because I don't want you to catch a cold," Jeongguk's voice turned softer and Taehyung noticed, heat shooting to his cheeks. His eyes widened as he realized that something that Jeongguk said made him blush and cleared his throat.
"Well... thanks."
"No problem." No it wasn't supposed to be this way. Jeongguk should wish for Taehyung to catch a cold, miss classes and then mess up on the exams. He should wish to not see Taehyung at school, because he doesn't like him, right? He finds Taehyung boring.
So why in the frick frack was he accompanying Taehyung home, sharing an umbrella. Not to mention the little signals that would shout through him whenever their shoulders would brush just slightly, as they were walking close to each other. Very close.
And just like Taehyung had mentioned earlier, he wasn't living far from the school, so barely 10 minutes passed and the boys were standing in front of the blond's house. He glanced to Jeongguk a little, finding the raven's eyes studying the door and the architecture of the house, as if he hadn't spend half of his childhood in there.
Taehyung scoffed, walked up the two steps in front of the door and pressed the door bell.
Jeongguk snapped out of his stare by that. "I probably should go now—
He was stopped when the door opened and Ms. Kim was revealed.
"There you are, I was waiting for you." She instantly engulfed her son in a hug, but once her eyes saw the boy behind Taehyung, she froze. She stared at him, the boy doing the same.
"Jeongguk.."
Taehyung sighed, moving away of the hug. "Mrs Shang had an urgent appointment so she left us alone and accidentally locked the door. We were stuck in the classroom and Jeongguk offered to walk me home since he had an umbrella."
Jeongguk still stood frozen and when Taehyung looked at him, he saw that wave of sadness in his eyes.
And he exactly knew what it was. Jeongguk never really was in good terms with his mother and if he needed motherly comfort, he had always Ms. Kim there for him. In his eyes she had been the mom he never had.
He cleared his throat. "I'm gonna go then—
"Wait... stay a little," Ms. Kim spoke and Taehyung's eyes widened as he gave her a look that told her to not continue talking, but she did anyways. "You can stay till the rain calms down... also I cooked and both of you must be hungry, you didn't have any food in the classroom right?"

The thought that she threw more attention to Jeongguk than to the fact that her son was declared detention, had to clean a classroom and then was locked up in a room for three hours, bothered Taehyung more than it should.
But he is grown up enough to know that she had every right to care about Jeongguk, Taehyung's old best friend that she looked at like her second son. Him leaving had hit her just like it hit Taehyung, maybe not at the same level, but it was still painful.
And after all... It's been a whole year.
"I..." there was obvious hesitation in Jeongguk's expression and there was sadness in his voice and Taehyung felt confused to the core. It was his decision to leave, why was he acting like this? "I'd love to.. Ms. Kim."
The glister in her eyes was obvious enough to show how happy she was to hear that. It was strange though, to hear Jeongguk be so formal to her, when he always used to call her by her first name 'Hana'. "Get out of the rain, kids, you'll get sick," She urged, waving her hand for both of the boys to go inside.
Taehyung hated how this situation made him feel. Nostalgic. Yet at the same time he adored that feeling, things suddenly reminding him so much on the past, where it was only his mother, Jeongguk and him. His father and mother divorced when Taehyung was ten and he still keeps strong contact with his dad, who moved to Europe though. His parents divorced in good terms, still being friends.
But that wasn't what was important. Jeon Jeongguk, after one year of being the biggest asshole, was back in his house. In his home.
And it tucked on that little string inside of him, that string that would hold onto his tears before they could reveal themselves and roll down his rosy cheeks.
He hated that feeling.
Hated how emotional he was.
Just because Jeongguk was back in his house, as if it was something special, something worth to shed a tear for.
"Your socks are wet!" Hana pointed out, looking at the boys' feet that didn't survive the heavy rain. "Honey, go upstairs and get some new socks for Jeongguk and for yourself."
"No, it's okay, I—
"Shush," the woman interrupted Jeongguk. "I don't want my boys to get sick."
My boys. Taehyung's eyes searched Jeongguk's, finding them already looking at him. Her boys, that was them. Taehyung and Jeongguk— they are her boys, that's how she always called them.
And hearing it again, caused both boys' hearts to get filled with joy.
"What are you waiting for, get up!" She said to Taehyung again and the blond rolled his eyes, averting them away from Jeongguk, before he trotted upstairs to change his socks and get another pair for Jeongguk.
And as he did so, he found himself deliberately looking for the most comfortable ones for the ravenette. That was scary for Taehyung and he felt like taking a cold shower to clear his mind and feelings was definitely needed.
Was he really going crazy?
He trotted back downstairs and handed Jeongguk the socks, who put them on and then went to wash his hands. Of course he knew where the kitchen was. Actually, he knew every little corner of this house.
This place, he used to call it his home too.
Taehyung grumbled something under his breath, getting really confused with himself and what he was feeling. He wanted to hate the fact that Jeongguk was here but every thought that would start with 'I hate that he's here' would end with... 'I don't want him to leave'.
Taehyung's eyes looked to Jeongguk. Shit, he thought, not wanting to feel this way about the ravenette's presence.
"You can sit at the table already, I'll prepare the food. Jeongguk, you used to love my cooking, I hope you still like it."
All these references to the past.
Yet it would always be: You used to. He used to.
Because whatever was gonna be said about the past, both the Kims were not sure if it's still the case, since it's been a whole fucking year since Jeongguk was last seen in their house.
Taehyung was starting to hate this day even more and more by every passing second.
