《LITTLE FURY ( fairy tail. )》CHAPTER FORTY-NINE ➵ STORMBORN IDENTITY

Natsu, Lucy and Gray along with Dealana's Edolas counterpart were standing in an amusement part they discovered within the king of Edolas' castle. In between them and getting to the king were two of the Edolas magic warfare unit captains, Hughes and Sugarboy.
Dealana was beginning to regret not putting her mask on to hide her face, no doubt the two magic warfare captains would put two and two together to realize that the Bittercress Rose was much more than a simple tavern. They knew that Dealana Borialis helped run the establishment with Gavin Levi and Lorna Remnant. But with her also doubling as the criminal, Stormborn, Gavin and Lorna would be associated with her crimes against the king and brought in for question, or worse; execution.
Taking out the two creeps within the amusement park was Dealana's only option if she wanted to protect her friends. She would still take them down any other day, but she'd rather not have the lives of her friends on the line.
"Mmm, will you be good animals and go back to your cages without a fight?" Sugarboy asked as he continued to ride the magic carousel.
"Tch, you don't give the cattle a choice," Hughes scoffed. "You just make them do whatever you want." Natsu wore a confused expression at their analogies and quite frankly, Dealana found them a little odd herself.
"What are they yammering about?" The Dragon Slayer asked.
"And we already took their powers, so we don't have to handle with care," Hughes said, the end of what Dealana now realized resembled a conductor's baton glowing yellow with magic energy. "If code ETD pans out like the old man hopes well that just means these eye sores become a waste of space, and if there's one thing we excel at, it's clearing out the clutter." The yellow glow from Hughes' baton spread to envelop the entirety of the wooden ship attraction causing it to creak and groan as it moved passed the normal limitations.
"Hope you're ready to meet your maker!" Hughes shouted before crashing the ship forward, destroying the carousel Sugarboy was still riding along with it. Much to the dismay of the group, Sugarboy was unaffected by the action and remained unharmed and still riding a now broken off carousel horse. Hughes landed on the railing of the main rollercoaster looking at the rubble with a smirk.
However, his expression quickly morphed into surprise and disappointment when he noticed the smoke clearing away to reveal a shield made of ice. Dealana found herself once again in awe of the Earthlanders' ability to use magic like the Exceeds. It was truly a sight to behold and she couldn't help feel a little envious of her mini-me.
"Where'd that ice come from?" Hughes wondered out loud. "So, these Earthland freaks use magic like Exceeds do?"
"I thought their itemless magic was nothing but rumors," Sugarboy added from where he lay on the ground still perched atop the horse from the carousel. "Mmm, it's truly breathtaking to behold."
Dealana's hands twitched in both excitement and fear as things were getting started. Truth be told, she preferred a more conservative fighting style. Or at least, one that relied on the advantage of stealth when dealing with strong opponents. Though her current standing was shaping up to be a confrontational battle that would push her out of her comfort zone. She hadn't had nearly as much magic power at her disposal as Hughes and Sugarboy, meaning that she didn't have as much experience fighting with her own magical item.

The floor around Natsu ignited and burst into flames that did not affect the scarf-wearer, instead this was his magic. Dealana found it equally as fascinating as the other Earthland wizards' magic that she had witnessed. Obviously, her favorite was her mini-me's magic, but that was a given.
"This chump's combusting!" Hughes exclaimed, looking down from his perch at the Fire Dragon Slayer.
"And you will too!" Natsu shot right back. He ran forward and leapt into the air, his fist also engulfed in flames as he delivered a strong right-hook to Hughes' jaw. The magic warfare captain slammed into the ground creating a sizable crater in his wake. "Are you ready to give our friends back yet?" Natsu questioned as he now stood atop the rollercoaster track, looking down at the purple haired male.
"Sorry, that's not my call," Hughes replied, sitting up. "Even if it were, it would take a lot more than that to make me give up on unlimited power. You'll just have to face the facts that your friends are history!" He exclaimed swiping his magic conductor's baton upwards, manipulating something in the amusement park unbeknownst to Natsu.
As the rollercoaster car began trekking its way toward them, Natsu continued yelling at Hughes. "If you haven't learned how relentless we can be, I'll just have to keep beatin' the lesson in!"
"Natsu look out behind you!" Lucy warned before the floor beneath her, Gray and Dealana softened and they began to sink into it. Dealana tried to escape but found it was too soft for her to get a sufficient foot hold and climb out. "Ahh! What are we standing in?" the blonde wondered.
"I'm not sure we'd want to know the answer," Gray commented. Above them, Natsu had wound up stuck inside one of the many Hell Coasters that Hughes had at his disposal. As they were sinking further into the puddy-like ground, Dealana sweat-dropped at Natsu's motion sickness.
"Well, that's less impressive," She muttered to no one in particular, "Does mini-me get motion sick like that too?"
"We're getting deeper by the second!" Lucy stressed looking at their predicament.
"Natsu isn't looking so hot," Gray realized, more focused on the lava-brained pyro stuck on the rollercoaster than he was his own predicament.
"We've got our own problem if you hadn't noticed," Lucy told him while Edolas Dealana's heterochromatic gaze scanned around the amusement park in search of something that would help them to escape.
"Lucy," Gray said to the blond, turning as much as he could to face her, "you've got to get him out of that coaster."
"How am I supposed to do that?" She questioned. Without replying, Gray grabbed her arms and began pulling her out with all the strength he could muster. "H-Hey...you're kidding!? Wait!" She tried to say before she was launched out of the softened floor and flung in the direction of the roller coaster with a scream.
"Now get up there!" Gray shouted at her. Sugarboy followed her trajectory with mild amusement, using a hand to shield his eyes from non-existent sunlight. Dealana let out a sigh of relief when she saw the blond grab hold of a second Hell Coaster, but that still left her and Gray stuck in the floor. "Alright, now that's done," the ice mage said, bringing Dealana's attention to him as he brought his hands together above his head in the same position as he did in the corridor with Erza Knightwalker.

"Ice Make: Grappling hooks!" He casted the spell that formed two hooks made of glittering ice.
"Grab on!" He shouted to Dealana before the he was beginning to be pulled from the floor. Not wanting to be left stuck in the softened ground, Dealana managed to wrap her arms around Gray's middle as the grappling hooks lifted them from Sugarboy's trap.
"Hmm, if you could pull off something like that on your own," Sugarboy began as they were momentarily suspended in the air, "couldn't you have helped free the Dragon Slayer as well?" He asked Gray.
"I could, but then that would leave only Dealana to rearrange your ugly mug and that just wouldn't be fair," Gray quipped back.
"You certainly are confident, aren't you?" Sugarboy chuckled. Dealana let out of the ice mage and landed back on solid ground while Gray cast another spell.
"Ice Make: Death Scythe!"
From his hands, a long handle formed that quickly curved into a sharp scythe, which he swung at the magic warfare captain. Sugarboy countered the attack with his sword that Dealana suspected to be a magic tool of sorts. Her eyes widened when she noticed the ice Gray had created soften and move around in the air like blobs of clay. It was the same puddy-like consistency as the floor had been.
"So it's all ice," Sugarboy hummed in thought, "Hmm, most impressive. Yes, Earthland magic is quite versatile.
"How did he warp my attack?" Gray wanted to know.
"Mmm, behold the power of my glorious magic weapon; Rosa Espada," He revealed pointing the rose-hilted blade in their direction as the moldable ice was suspended idly in the air around him. "It doesn't matter what you throw at me, this sword's magic will make it as soft as the fur on an Exceed's backside." Gray and Dealana both grimaced at this revelation. This was going to be tough. Dealana's left hand shifted towards her own magic weapon, her fingers brushing the hilt of the tanto blade before wrapping carefully around the dragon-scale patterned handle.
When Sugarboy's eyes followed her action, he also noticed the familiar mask clipped to her belt. His blue orbs widened before another soft, yet unnerving smile spread across his lips. His expression made Dealana shudder with slight discomfort.
"Mmm, the criminal Stormborn's identity is revealed," He hummed. It sparked curiosity in Gray when he heard the familiar name tossed around for the second time by someone looking at Dealana's Edolas counterpart. "We should've expected it to be a former Fairy, and Dealana Borialis no less. It's impressive how long you've managed to evade capture."
"What's he even talking about?" Gray asked the girl beside him. She never took her eyes off of Sugarboy but still offered an explanation.
"Very few people disagree with the ideals of Edolas' king, and even fewer people are willing to take some form of action, no matter how small. To protect those around me, I concealed my identity and they gave me the name 'Stormborn'." She explained, glancing briefly at the ice mage out of the corner of her eye. "I've broken into this castle before, remember? It's how I know most of the layout."
"And you've also been labeled a traitor to Edolas, therefore your punishment shall be execution," Sugarboy said. Dealana's eyes widened in shock as did Gray's. She knew that the consequences of her getting caught wouldn't be good, but hearing them out loud was really something else.
"You aren't laying a hand on her," Gray said moving to shield Dealana from view. This only further surprised Dealana. She knew from what her mini-me said about Fairy Tail being a family that looks after their own. She was certain that her Fairy Tail was still like that before she left, but she seemed to have forgotten that sense of protecting loved ones with such... emotion.

Earthland Dealana and Gajeel countered hit after hit that the magic warfare unit captain, Pantherlily threw at them. Or at least, Gajeel was blocking them while Dealana attempted to get to the lacrima. However, every time she got close, Pantherlily was there to swing his gigantic sword and nearly decapitate her. It was scary how close he had been a few times, and each of those times, Dealana shouted at Gajeel and Happy for it being too much of a close call.
Pantherlily, to say the least, was impressed by the power possessed by Earthland wizards. Their magic was similar to Exceeds in that it came from within, but different from Exceeds as their magic was unique and much more suited for offense than Aera Magic was.
"Figures we have to come to another world to find a challenge," Gajeel smirked. He and Dealana couldn't deny the fact that they were enjoying the battle with Pantherlily. After a few days of avoiding soldiers and then pummeling them only to find out that they were no fun to beat, both Dragon Slayers were itching for a good fight. "Let's kick it up a notch and see who can draw the first blood."
"I bit my tongue earlier when Pantherlily almost decapitated me for the seventh time, does that count? 'Cause if so, I totally win," Dealana smirked from atop her cloud.
"That doesn't count, idiot!" Gajeel denied.
"I don't think I'll be able to carry you for very long," Happy complained. "You're a lot heavier than Natsu, then again, I haven't dropped big ol' Lucy yet." He reasoned. Dealana stifled her laughter, but his first reason made sense. Gajeel was heavier to carry than Natsu because shifting his limbs to iron would add a lot more weight for the Exceed to keep afloat, not to mention he had to readjust each time Gajeel shifted his spells while dodging and maneuvering around.
Dealana's respect for Happy had grown, and she made a mental note to get him a good amount of fish when they got back to Earthland.
"You sure you should be saying somethin' like that out loud?" Gajeel asked. "What do you think she'd do if she heard you?" Happy paled and his eyes grew to the size of saucers.
"Sorry, Lucy! I was just kidding!" He apologized immediately.
"Let me down," Gajeel told him.
"Are you sure?" Happy checked.
"Doesn't feel right having Salamander's cat haul me around," Gajeel replied. "'Till I can find my own flying cat, I'll skip out on the aerial brawling and work my magic on good old dirt."
"Whatever you say," Happy replied before setting him down. Dealana quirked an eyebrow before surfing down to their level watching as Pantherlily redeployed his mega sword.
"Gotta give the guy props for carrying that giant thing everywhere," Gajeel remarked.
"No kidding!" Happy exclaimed before his voice changed to sound more sophisticated, "If one Pantherlily equals one panther in length, then the sword's equal to four panthers long."
"Happy, no one cares for your lessons, they only want to see a fight!" Dealana told him. Happy sulked.
"That's why you're always failing my classes," He quipped as if it would affect Dealana in someway. It didn't. She just rolled her eyes.
Pantherlily took that oppurtunity to bring down his sword and take out another massive chunk of the floating island, causing Happy and the two Dragon Slayers to dodge out of the way just in a nick of time. "You must be quite confident to start playing games in the middle of a battle." The large Exceed said.
Happy watched in awe and fear as the chunk of island began to fall down to Edolas below. "He did that with one clean strike!"
"So not only is that thing freakishly huge, but the guy behind it knows what he's doing with it," Gajeel commented.
"When Bustermarm and I are through with you, you'll be nothing but a faded stain of rust on his gleaming cross-guard," Pantherlily said to them.
"I'm cool with that," Gajeel replied, "A stain of rust is like a badge of honor to me."
"If you want to talk metal, Gajeel's definitely your man!" Happy cheered. Dealana shook her head in mild amusement. Pantherlily glared at them from in the air, his eyes narrowed from behind his visor.
"Ready?"
"Come on!" Gajeel and Dealana taunted with similar challenging smirks. Pantherlily charged with a battle cry while the two Dragon Slayers resumed their defensive positions. The battle was only just getting started.
