《It's Not Over》Fight Night

"I'm sorry," Annalise said, as she made her way past Rosie into the kitchen one morning shortly after moving in.
"I don't need to hear your sorry, I need you to be sorry so you don't do it again!" He replied, watching as she retrieved a bottle of water from the fridge.
"I'm sorry you were worried," she answered, more honestly, but it only upset Rosie more.
"But you're not sorry you disappeared for twelve hours without a word?"
"I didn't mean to, I left my phone at the station but I told you I was hanging out with the guys."
"For an hour or so," he said, remembering her exact words.
"And it was 'so." She wasn't taking him nearly as seriously as he would have liked, which infuriated him. He'd never been very upset with Annalise but after she went radio silent, his worry had turned to anger, which only grew at her dismissal over it when she came in trying to hide a hangover and barely listening to his concerns. She started out of the room but he yelled to her as she passed the dining table.
"Annalise, you live here, we're together. You have to tell me when you're going to be out for hours-"
"I didn't know I had to tell you I was spending some extra time with my friends," she began, turning back to him as she continued, telling him, "especially considering how little I've seen them since you showed up-"
"That was your choice-"
"I'm not blaming you, I just don't get why you have to know where I am and what I'm doing at all times. You're not my parent or my-"
"Roommate." He replaced wheatever she'd planned to say. "I'm not just you're roommate, I'm your boyfriend and I worry. I want you to spend time with your friends, they're important to you, but if you're gonna get wasted-"

"I was not wasted-" she began though he kept talking.
"and pass out somewhere other than home, at the very least, I'd like to know where you are."
"I told you where I was-"
"I don't know your friends, Andy." He emphasized her Seattle name. "You haven't introduced me to them."
"Oh, so your upset because you weren't invited," she said, playing it off as childish.
"I'm upset because I'm never invited. Do all of them keep their partners from you?" She sighed, tucking hair behind her ear before she pulling out her chair from the dinning table and sitting down on it as she said more calmly,
"I wasn't trying to."
"I want to know them. They're a big part of your life, you care about them, and I want to meet them." He spoke slow enough to articulate his words and let them sink in. "And again, I'm not upset you were with them. I don't have any of their numbers and they don't have mine and you weren't answering and you didn't come home. We're in a relationship, now. I just want us to communicate." She leaned back in her seat, dangling her legs as she stared at him in silence. Part of her was sorry. She didn't think much of it, this all-in- stable-relationship thing being a faint memory to her these days, but another part of her was still clinging to the anger over feeling she was being told needed to tell him where she was at all times. Feeling controlled. And even if he explained it wasn't so intense, she had to come down from her high of anger and that would take a little while. So instead, she just sat slumped in her seat, watching as he spoke.

"Annalise," he said after a long moment of waiting for her to reply. "Are you listening to me?" She quietly sighed, frustrated.
"Yeah." She sounded slightly annoyed but he took her word for it.
"And?" Andy had to glance away a moment as she prepared to sacrifice some of her pride before she could look him in the eye to weakly suggest,
"I guess I could have borrowed a phone."
"Annalise," he said, again, having expected something a little more heartfelt, or at least communicative. The stubborn woman didn't make any attempt to speak again, dangling her legs again as she waited for him to give up.
She watched as he shook his head, looking away a moment as he inhaled deeply, but when he looked at her again, his mind went right back to where it had been.
"Can you sit up, please."
"And adhere to the patriarchy?" He but his lip, not sure what to say to that, especially when she said it with so little amusement. Finally, she just stuck her tongue out at him. The thing he least expected her to do in that moment. She didn't plan it, but it certainly cut the tension.
"We're having a conversation and you can't be adorable like that when I'm trying to talk to you!" For a moment, Annalise quickly let out a laugh, covering her hand with her mouth as she did so.
"Stop!" He nearly begged, which only prolonged her laugh. As a result, he chuckled as well, which then turned into a real laugh and he sat down beside her. He watched as Annalise's smile slowly dissolved and her eyes fell into her lap.
"I am actually sorry," she said, letting go of the grudge, sooner than she thought she would. "I don't know how to do this, Rosie," she told him, truthfully. "My relationship, they're either short or I'm not all that invested, I guess. But living with someone..." she looked up to meet his eyes, which were already intently focused on her. "I don't know how to not screw that up. Not anymore."
"Well, you're not screwing anything up. And if it makes you feel better, I've never been this invested in a relationship." Annalise smiled weakly at him, a thin layer of salt water over her eyes. She sat up, carefully, taking his cheek in her hand and planting a soft kiss on his lips. It wasn't special but that brought him comfort. He knew she planned to do it a thousand more times. "We'll end all of our arguments like that," he determined. She nodded slightly, answering,
"Yeah, that's a good plan."

Raak
James was in his 30's when his death came suddenly, not that he minded much, as life was seeming to drag on. His story, however, did not end with his death. As a point of fact, it had only just begun. This will be my first work, so please by all means comment with any errors I may have made. Suggestions for the story (which may or may not be used). This is a litrpg and a bit of a power fantasy, so be warned the protagonist will be pretty OP eventually.
