《12:22》eleven

The sun is setting, it looks unreal. Like a painting, different shades of blues, pinks, and oranges overlapping one another.

I love sunsets.

They feel safe, like they bring a sense of reassurance that you need when things aren't going so well.

I run a hand through my hair, fixing it and noticing how terrible it looks right now.

Who let me go out like this?

It's overly curly and frizzy.

I should've straightened it, it looks disgusting. I just took a shower too so it doesn't exactly look how I want it to, just needed to leave the building.

I'm at an abandoned parking lot by the beach, there's only me and this guy a few parking spots further away from me.

The car I'm sitting on isn't even mine.

He has a sharp jawline, I could stare at him for hours.

I feel like I know him.

He has on a lose white t-shirt and khakis, he looks tired.

His lips part and he takes the cigarette from between his upper and bottom lip. He throws it to the side of the parking spot and turns his head to the left so now his side profile is facing me.

Wait.

Is that-?

No way.

An older man, about maybe in his forties, taps my shoulder. Signaling me to get off his car, I realize and get down. He has a slight amount of facial hair and dark brown eyes.

"Sorry." I apologized, watching him drive off quickly.

We make eye contact and I freeze, taking an earbud out so the music wasn't as loud.

Should I go over there?

No.

I want to though, just to bother him. I wanna see his reaction.

Inez, what the hell is wrong with you?

I'm going to do it.

I could get him to drive me, I don't want to walk home.

Walking over to him, and getting onto the roof of his Porsche and sitting a couple inches away from him.

"Hi." I wave to him, fixing my hair and put a few strands into place.

He doesn't say anything, nodding in response.

"Ronan." I spoke in a higher tone, his facial expression changes as soon as his name leaves my mouth.

"Oh, hi. Sorry." He responds dryly,

The corners of his lips turn upward and a dimple on the right side of his mouth appears.

He has a dimple on the right side of his face.

"What are you doing here?" He asks me, studying my face as if he's trying to read me.

I clear my throat, "What do you mean what am I doing here? In a public place?" I ask, attempting not to sound as nervous as I am.

He doesn't say anything in response, taking a ring on and off the same finger.

Why do I find that attractive? what no I don't.

"Don't you speak Italian?" It slips out of my mouth because of an article I read about him online.

"Yeah? You think so?" A smirk plays on his lips.

"Is that a yes?" I look over him for a minute, he nods in agreement.

"Teach me then." I demand.

"Hm?" He looks at the now darkened sky, "want to?" He questions.

"Sure." I agree. "Umm-" I pause for a moment to figure out what I want to know, "tell me how to say 'you're a blue eyed asshole."

"Ti voglio bene." He translates.

"Ti voglio bene-?" I butcher, I did not say that right.

"Wait how does a sentence translate to three words?" I raise an eyebrow.

"It just does." He argues.

"That's not what it actually translates to huh?" I ask.

"Hm?" He hums, acting clueless.

I scoffed, "You're so annoying."

He chuckles lightly.

He unwraps the gum in his hand and shoving it into his mouth. He hands me the aluminum gum wrapper.

"What do you want me to do with this?" I held up the wrapper.

"Whatever you want." He clenches his jaw, continuously chewing the gum in his mouth.

I crumble the small aluminum wrapper into a ball, throwing it at his shirt. It bounces off and lands in his hand. He glances back at me, unamused at my gesture.

His phone begins to ring and he gets down from the roof of the car, walking to the side of the parking lot.

I reach into the back pocket of my jeans, taking my phone out.

60 notifications.

Woah.

Did I do something?

I enter my pin, tapping the messages app with my finger.

My phone was blowing up with texts, some from unknown numbers, some from my ex and some from people I haven't spoken to for years.

I open August's contact, noticing all the messages from him. I read the latest text.

I swear to god, we have been waiting for forty minutes, if you don't show up right now. Received, 4:34 pm

i'll be there, sent 5:05 pm

I forgot I was supposed to go, shit.

I slip my phone back into my jeans, heading over to him. I tap his shoulder and get his attention, turning his head to me. He shuts his phone off and his eyebrows lift.

"Hey, you." I call out to him, "Drive me to this restaurant." I look up from my phone and notice how close he is to me.

He walks me backwards and I get close to the edge of the parking lot. Below the parking lot there was sand. He looks me up and down.

"Listen I need to get there quickly, my friends have been waiting for a long time."

My sentence gets interrupted when I feel droplets of water sink into my skin, they multiply in the matter of seconds.

Heavy rain begins and suddenly it's the only sound I can hear through my ears.

"You have friends?"

"I hate you." I walk to the door of his Porsche, shivering. The door opens and I sit in the seat next to the driver's seat, the one he sits in.

Leather interior. I'm literally going to be ruining his car given the amount it's raining.

"Do you have extra clothes?" I ask.

"Backseat." He gets up, opening the door to the backseat of his car and I get inside.

He throws me a black band t-shirt and plaid pajama pants, his I'm assuming. No shit of course it's his, who else's would it be? Why do I ask these questions.

I signal him to turn around, his back is now facing me and he's facing the back window.

I pull the shirt over my head, taking it off and putting on the black band tee.

It's huge on me, I was practically swimming in the fabric.

After I finished changing, he turned back around.

His white shirt was now wet, making it see through.

Stop staring.

He pulls the shirt off with one hand, putting on a new one. A black one, of course.

I swear his whole wardrobe is just, dark clothing.

-

He's now staring to drive, his fingers tightly wrapped around the steering wheel and one hand on the back of my seat as he backs up.

As he's looking behind himself, one hand behind my seat. We lock eyes for a split second and then he switches his gaze to the road.

"Where exactly do you want me to take you?" He says as he's looking away from me.

"This restaurant, it's not too far from here." I explained.

"Be more specific." He speaks again.

How?

"I'll give you the address." He hands me his phone and I type it in, giving it back to him.

As he drives further, we're on the main road. "You're making me drive you to some restaurant?" He asks.

"Yes, do you have any problems with that?" I shot back, "keep your eyes on the road."

A heavy sigh leaves his lips as he gets to the restaurant in about twelve minutes, I got out of his car.

"Bye." I greeted, before walking away from his car. Instead he comes with, entering the restaurant behind me.

"Why are you coming with me?" I whispered to him, hitting his arm with my elbow.

"You don't want me to me your friends?" He whispers back to me, he walks in front of me going up to the table where August and Alisha are.

hi ! hope you liked, love u

and another thing, "ti voglio bene" can also be used when the relationship isn't that serious yet, this is a slow burn and saying ti amo would make it too obvious. and inez speaks spanish so she would immediately know what he said.
