Running a hand through my loose and unruly hair, I almost forget about the timer that was set in front of my oven. Which meant I had to check on the cake I was baking soon.

The timer goes off and I quickly make my way to the oven, turning it off.

I pull it open by the handle with a small kitchen towel, using the oven mitts to take it out. I grab a toothpick that was by the counter, poking it right through the middle of the cake and noticing there was no residue.

Baking has always been a hobby of mine, something I'd do to get my mind off of things. Right now I was baking because I couldn't get myself to sleep, but then again when am I really able to sleep?

I made a red velvet cake, I think I own like every flavor of cake mix in my pantry.

Setting it down on the dining table, I pull the mittens off and take my phone out of my pocket to take a picture of it.

Right when I'm about to take the picture, I receive a text from an unsaved number.

Who's texting me in the middle of the night?

The person reads my text but doesn't respond, and I hear my doorbell ring.

This is scaring me.

When I try to figure out who was at the door, the door bell rings a couple more times.

Maybe I should go get that and it's not as bad as I'm suspecting.

The worst thing could be that I'm like getting evicted or something, but that wouldn't happen because I just payed the rent for this month right?

What if I get kidnapped?

No, shut the fuck up and stop jumping to conclusions.

I put an end from overthinking further and twist the doorknob to open the door. Ronan stands in front of me with a file in his hands, tossing it to me.

Given how late it was, he still appeared to have slept and not seemed tired at all. He was dressed in an open black leather jacket, a band tee underneath it and dark washed jeans.

"Ronan, what—"

He doesn't say anything, walking in while pushing past me. My eyebrows furrow, causing my forehead to crease while I look at him with confusion in my eyes.

I shut the door and he sits at the dining table, right in front of my cake I haven't even begun to decorate yet.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him, he ignores my question.

"This smells good."

"Yes, I made it. Now tell me what you're doing here." I reply, getting straight to the point.

He gets up from where he was sitting, catching me off guard so he was standing in front of me.

He leans forward so his face was only a couple millimeters away from mine, making eye contact with me. I feel the file in my hands getting snatched away from my grasp. As he opens it up again he hands me the papers inside to read.

I take the papers, reading from page to page and realize what they're for.

They're for the business trip to Milan for Milan Fashion Week, which is pretty soon.

"Oh, shit the deadline is today." I place a palm over my temple in frustration.

"Yes ma'am." He smirks, "If you don't sign these you may not be able to go, which could result to-"

I cut him off, sarcastically smiling in response. "I'll go get a pen." You could sense the anger in my voice as I spoke.

Walking over to my bedroom, I hear footsteps behind me and notice that he's coming with me— fucking creep.

I reach my room and make my way to where I kept stationary, my "studio" you could say. Its a desk which is where I sketch my designs, so a pen is probably there.

Opening the drawer, I shove my curtain bangs behind my ears. Bending over and fumbling through until I had found a decent pen that had worked.

I get up from my previous position and turn around to see him sitting on my bed, reading one of my books. His body tilted to the side while he read, he's reading the first Twilight book.

Wait, no. I annotated that book, I notice at all the tabs sticking out from the pages of the book.

"Are you reading my annotations?" I ask.

"You read this shit?" He starts laughing, "No way."

"Give me my book back." I ignore his remark, stepping forward but instead I fall onto the bed so I was laying on my stomach facing him.

He parts his lips, "Easy, you want it back?"

"Yes."

His eyes bounce back from my eyes to my lips, over and over again until we were both looking at one another.

I give him a lopsided smile, taking it from his hands and sitting back upright on the edge of my bed.

Getting up, I place it back in the book shelf connected to my desk in between the other books in the series.

I feel him come up behind me again, the warmth of his body being the only thing I could sense right now.

Turning to him, I noticed he was close to caging me in due to the close proximity between us.

My head hurts.

I bring my pen down to the paper, reading carefully in between the lines and every word. Signing the total of the few papers that were stapled together, I smile genuinely this time.

I put the papers back into the file, closing it and handing it to him.

"You drove all the way over here in the middle of the night just for me to sign these?"

"Your forgetful ass left work early yesterday without taking these, so I was forced to bring them." He answers, taking it from my hand.

"Hey, I'm not forgetful." I deny, walking out of my room as he follows behind. I get back to the kitchen and step over to the counter where the pan filled with the cake sat.

"Oh yeah?" He fights his smile as I notice him glance beside me.

"What—" I cut myself off and look over and get startled by the sight of the oven left open, shutting it immediately in embarrassment.

"Stop laughing." I give him a stern look.

He raises his arms up in defense, smiling. "I'm not laughing, you should do your cake decorate thing. I'll taste."

"Mhm, alright." I grab a large plate from the dish rack and set it down on the marble island, taking the pan with the cake inside, flipping it over and tapping so it fell onto the center of the plate.

"You do this often?" He asks, leaning against the counter behind him.

"Do what?"

"Bake at three in the morning." He states as I spread lavender frosting all over the small cake, going over the sides of it and the top.

"Yes."

"What should I write on the cake?" I question, the white icing tip hovering above the cake as I thought about it.

I feel him come up behind me again, my heartbeat picking up.

"Today's date." He says, almost a whisper due to how low he was speaking.

"Why? There's nothing special about today's date."

"You ask a lot of questions, Hernandez." He takes the icing tip from me, bringing it to the center of the cake and writing 6/19 in the prettiest handwriting I've ever seen, what the fuck.

Wish I could write like that.

I take the knife beside me and cut out a small slice of the cake, placing it on a foam plate and sliding it over to him.

"Try it."

"Thought you'd never ask." He gives me a lopsided smile, grabbing a plastic fork from the packet.

He cuts a piece off and slowly starts eating it, he seems to be enjoying it.

"So..?" I pick my fingernails, looking down at them and when I glance back up he's already eaten it all.

"It tastes like shit." He says, cutting another piece and putting it on his plate. "You should try it."

"Ronan—" I get cut off as he shoves the forkful of cake into my mouth and I cover my mouth, barely being able to chew the food.

"I will literally throw something at you." I threatened, covering my mouth while speaking and sounding muffled because of the remaining cake.

"Go ahead."

I finish eating and drink some water out of the glass that already on the counter, "I hate you."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah." I say, looking up at him.

I grab some cake in one hand and smear it across his left cheek so now he had frosting on it.

"Hernandez, what the fuck." He looks at me in disbelief.

I start laughing, running away from him so I was in the living room now.

He stops in front of me, grabbing my wrist so I couldn't move. He smiles. The second time I've seen him actually smile, smearing cake all over my face.
