i updated. proud of me?

Ronan was wearing a white button up underneath the light blue blazer overtop, the first half of them undone so his pearl and cross necklace were peeking out.

A couple faded marks were by his neck, which appeared to be hickeys.

The waiter in front of him stands, waiting for a response. He orders, not breaking eye contact with me.

"I'll have a—" He pauses for a minute when his gaze falls down to the heart locket I had on, "Margarita."

I swallow the lump in my throat, barely managing to keep a straight face.

The guy behind the counter arrives with his drink and he holds the small glass, sipping some of it as he brought it up to his lips, walking away as if he never saw me.

I scoff and the bartender asks me if I want anything, I ask for a iced lemonade and he brings me one after some time.

It tastes bittersweet, not overloaded with sugar but not completely bitter, I oddly had grown to like it.

I bring myself to get up, returning to the table I was originally at.

I receive a text from Alisha telling me she's here to pick me up.

I Wanna Be Yours by Arctic Monkeys begins to play on the speakers from the building next to ours.

I wanna be your vacuum cleaner

Breathing in your dust

I clear my throat, bring everyone's attention towards me so they could listen to what I said.

I wanna be your Ford Cortina

I will never rust

"Thank you so much for inviting me here tonight, Mr. Vernice. I had such a splendid time here." I thank him, glancing out the tall glass windows that directed to the outside of the building.

If you like your coffee hot

Let me be your coffee pot

I say goodbye to Mr. Vernice and the others, bringing myself to pass through people the right crowd.

You call the shots, babe

I just wanna be yours

I throw on my handbag, making my way out of the building.

Secrets I have held in my heart

Are harder to hide than I thought

"Excuse me." I shove a girl over, attempting to get through.

Maybe I just wanna be yours

I wanna be yours

The music fades out slowly as I reach the main door, the security guard opening the door for me while I leave.

I see a line begins to form in front of the security as I struggle to get through.

Someone in the line pushes me, causing me to fall forward and almost land on the ground, however I feel someone's very cold hands on my waist stop me before I did, they were wearing rings again.

"Thanks." I smile slightly before looking up again, putting an end to it as soon as I came to a realization to who it was—how is it him again?

He doesn't say anything, his hands loosing contact with my waist. His eyebrows furrow as he glares at me again, both his hands in his pockets as he leans against the expensive car beside him.

He has a pack of Marlboro Red cigarettes in one hand and takes one out, parts his lips and puts one between them.

He cups his hands around the cigarette as he lights the end, taking it out as he blew out.

I search for Alisha's car as I looked by the road right in front of me, glancing at my phone again waiting for an upcoming text message.

She texts me that she's here and I slip my phone back into the pocket of my dress, waiting for her to show up.

I spot a white hatchback pull up in the middle of the road, knowing it's Alisha I make my way around the front of the car, opening the car door and closing it shut as soon as I got inside, shifting in the seat to make myself comfortable.

"How was it?" She asks when I turn my head to look at her.

"Fine, I missed you though." I wrap an arm around her shoulder while she drives.

"I'm sorry." She apologizes out of nowhere, catching me off guard.

I move my arm away from her shoulder, "What?"

"For dragging you there yesterday." She explains, I look at her in disbelief, still not understanding what she meant.

She looks worried now, "What do you mean?" I ask.

"You're not feeling well and it's my fault."

I sigh, "No, I told you I'm-"

"I don't wanna hear it, accept my apology." She pries, it's amazing how much she could talk while she's driving.

"Apology accepted but only if you shut up." I smile.

She doesn't meet my eyes, "Fine."

"I feel fake."

I scrunch my eyebrows and perceive Alisha who sat by me on the plaid picnic blanket that stood on the sand.

"What?" I stifle out a small laugh.

"Like unreal, it's difficult to believe I'm an actual person living right now." She explains, I don't respond for a minute, thinking about what she's said.

I watch as the waves in front of us crashes along the shore, some droplets falling on our face as it came near.

"I think sometimes we forget because we're constantly distracting ourselves with the things around us." I respond to her explanation, she looks at me but I don't look at her, still staring at the sunset.

"Do you ever feel like that? Like you're not an actual person?" She returns to the topic.

I nod, carving something in the sand. "You're right, it is hard to believe."

"Give me your hand." She says, reaching it out.

I raise an eyebrow but then give in, her fingers interlacing with mine. She pulls both of us up so we were both standing now.

We walk forward and I feel the wet sand beneath my feet and between my toes, cringing at the feeling.

The waves crash forward and I feel the frigid water go up to my knees.

I wrap an arm around my waist, shivering.

"I'm cold."
