Silence is Suicide.

Chapter Fifteen.

I re-awoke around eight o'clock that morning to the scent of bacon frying. I stumbled out of bed and tried to shake the nightmare. I ran my fingers through my hair and headed into the kitchen.

"Good morning, Emerson. You okay?" Jeremy greeted me immediately.

I nodded a "yes" and sat down at the counter rubbing my eyes.

"Here are the plans for today: first, I'm taking you to my work downtown, then we can chill out for a little when work is finished, then I'll teach you bass." Jeremy smiled.

I chuckled, rolled my eyes, then gave him a thumbs up.

He handed me a plate with bacon and toast, set down a glass of apple juice, and finally a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal.

"It's not much, but hey, it's food." Jeremy smiled biting into his toast.

I listened to Jeremy talk about his work as we ate our breakfast. When we were finally finished I gave him a thumbs up.

He smiled at me, "You know where the bathroom is. Go shower, then we gotta start goin'. Ambrosia took the car so we're stuck walking to work."

I jumped down from the stool, put my dishes in the sink, and proceeded into the room I resided for the night. I grabbed some clothes from my backpack and hurried into the bathroom. I locked the door and took a very quick shower. I dressed, brushed my teeth, and fixed my hair.

Jeremy was already ready to go with the dishes done and he was dressed for the day. We walked down the stairs, Jeremy locked the door, and we were on our way.

"So, where is your place, Emerson?" Jeremy asked as we walked past the hideous school that caused my life more damage than needed.

We finally walked past my house after a few minutes of Jeremy rambling on about his band. I stopped and pointed to the dead house across the street.

"Huh?" Jeremy looked with a confused expression. He pondered for a moment, "Oh, is that where you live?"

I exhaled and nodded, sadly, yes.

"Well, during chill time, let's come back to check it out." He started walking down the street, "Don't worry, we'll come back."

I stood in the middle of the sidewalk like a deer in the headlights. I hesitantly nodded yes and followed behind Jeremy.

I wasn't planning on going back there, but he insisted. Sigh, hopefully it's worth it.
