Silence is Suicide.

Chapter Twelve.

I didn't answer his statement. After all, I don't really know him well and I can't play any instrument.

We heard the door unlock and footsteps walking up the stairs. A medium length black and bright red haired girl with hazel eyes stood on the landing in confusion.

"Hey Ambrosia!" Jeremy smiled walking over to greet his girlfriend.

"Jeremy Brooks," she said in a soft voice with the confused look still on her face, "Who is...?"

"This is my new buddy, Emerson. I met him a little while ago and he's going to stay for the night. He has no where else to go..."

She turned and smiled warmly at me, I could tell it was forced, but it was still a friendly smile. "Hello, Emerson. I'm Ambrosia, obviously. The remote for the TV is on the coffee table, help yourself." She pivoted back to Jeremy and harshly whispered, "Jer, can I speak with you in the bedroom really quickly?"

Jeremy lowered his head, assuming he disappointed his love. He followed his girlfriend into their bedroom. I awkwardly sat in the kitchen and doodled on my whiteboard I left on the island. About five minutes later, the couple emerged from the bedroom.

"I'm going to my mom's house. I'll be back later." Ambrosia said while grabbing a sweatshirt and walking down the stairs and finally out the door.

"Bye Baby..." Jeremy said sighing. He was silent for a minute or two then looked back at me. "No worries, Ambrosia just had a tough day at her work. She'll warm up to you soon." He smiled at me.

Jeremy made himself another sandwich. "Since tomorrow is Saturday, I'm gonna have ya' come to work with me. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I knew you didn't make it home safely. I work at my Pop's tattoo parlour downtown. Honestly, that's how I met Ambrosia. I gave her her first tattoo." He smiled recalling the memory.

The tattooed man switched the subject. "And about my band. I'll do anything. We're really... desperate." He looked down at his feet in embarrassment, then quickly looked back up at me. "Will you help us, Emerson?"

I looked down, erased my doodles, and wrote, "I don't know... Sorry Jeremy..."

"I'll teach you! I'll do almost anything. Please Emerson." He begged me and waited for my final answer.
