《World of Color | Skephalo》XVII - Bonus Chapter

It was a sunny morning in France, which most inhabitants enjoyed. The sun cast warm rays down on those who were out and about.

A brown haired boy walked down the sidewalk, papers in his hands. He basked in the suns rays, though he couldn't see the warmth around him.

This particular boy could only see black and white.

It didn't bother him much, but he did wish to see the colors around him. He wanted to be able to see the colors of his cats fur, and the color of his own eyes.

Still, Vincent was happy with his life. The papers in his hands were documents very important to him. They contained his passport papers, as well as confirmation of his visa. He had just come from his meeting where they would determine whether he would be able to study in the US.

Luckily, the official was having a good day and approved his application for a student visa. He would be spending the next year in the United States, studying computer systems.

He was never the best in school, but he was always good with computers. He had decided that if he were going to go to university, it wouldn't be in France. So, he decided on the United States.

As the boy walked down the street toward his house, he thought about how different his life would now be. He left in two weeks to a country he had only visited once. He'd be living in a completely different place, with no one he knew.

"Maybe I'll find my soulmate," Vincent thought to himself. At the thought, he smiled softly. He pulled out his phone to text his parents that he was approved.

Suddenly, a body knocked into his, causing his documents to fall out of his grasp and onto the grey pavement.

Only, the pavement was no longer grey.

Vincent looked down at the now tan concrete under his feet, his mind racing. Then, he heard a voice.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention!"

The voice was American, something he heard a lot living in a tourist-filled country.

He looked up, meeting the eyes of another boy, possibly a little older than himself. When the other boy looked at him, he froze.

(I'm going off a photo I saw of him hiding his face so it's literally a little piece of hair that I could see. If any of this is incorrect, oopsies)

The boy had light brown hair and a bright hoodie on. Vincent didn't know the name of the color, in both English or French, but he knew he liked it.

The mystery boy broke out of his daze, sticking his hand out to hand Vincent back his papers. he must have picked them up while Vincent was staring at the now tan ground.

"I'm, uh- I'm Clay." The boy stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.

Vincent took the papers back, thanking him. "I'm Vincent."

The boy gave him a small smile, sticking his now empty hands in his hoodie pocket.

"Do you wanna go get coffee or something?" Vincent offered, almost regretting it until Clay's face lit up into a larger smile. He nodded, and let Vincent lead them to a small cafe.

The week was spent with the two boys getting to know each other. Each day, they would meet somewhere new.

Vincent learned Clay had just moved to France with his dad for his job. As far as Vincent knew, he'd be leaving in a week and would be leaving his soulmate in France. Sure, Clay could visit him in America, but that would be expensive.

Vincent didn't know exactly where the boy was from, but he knew he was American.

Together, they went to different cafe's and stores to spend time together. Vincent even took Clay to one of his favorite parks, which he rarely visited anymore.

Eventually, the time came where Vincent knew he needed to tell Clay he was leaving.

They were walking through another park that Vincent wanted to show his soulmate, with a fountain and a little plaza. At the moment, they were walking side by side, their shoulders brushing against one another's.

The French boy spoke up, "Uh, Clay?"

The light brown haired boy turned and stopped to look at his soulmate. "Yeah? What's up?"

"I need to tell you something. Can we sit?" He motioned to a table near them in the plaza which was currently empty. Clay nodded and they went to sit, Vincent sitting across from the Clay.

He took a deep breath and looked into his soulmate's eyes, feeling as if he were treading on thin ice.

"I'm going to the US in a week." He quickly breathed out, hoping Clay wouldn't be upset. Instead, the boy smiled.

"For what, like a vacation?"

Vincent shook his head, "No, I'm moving there."

Now Clay understood, his mouth tugging down into a small frown. His brow furrowed, and he looked down.

"So, I move here and meet you, and now you're leaving?" He spoke softly, as if it weren't meant for Vincent to hear. Though, he did. He reached across the table and set his hand softly on top of Clay's, causing the boy to jump. He quickly settled though, turning his hand so their palms lay flat against each other.

He looked up, bringing a forced smile to his face, "I can come visit."

Vincent nodded, threading his fingers through Clay's.

Another week had passed, and it was time for Vincent to leave for the US.

His parents accompanied him to the airport, helping him check in his bags and send him off.

Clay couldn't come along, he claimed he had something important to do with his dad. He had wished Vincent a safe trip the night before.

Currently, Vincent was waiting by the gate to board the plane. They had begun boarding first class, so he would be getting on soon. He pulled out his phone to text Clay, telling him he'd be departing in a little while.

Vincent 11:22am:

I'm leaving soon, plane just started boarding.

He received a response almost instantly.

Clay 11:22am:

I'm sorry I couldn't be there to say goodbye...

Vincent 11:23am:

It's okay, you were busy.

Clay 11:23am:

Still, I should've been there. I have to go, text me as soon as you land.

Just as Vincent was about to respond, the stewardess called his boarding group. He stood up and shoved his phone in his pocket, making a mental note to text Clay when he landed. He picked up his carry on bag and made his way to the already forming line.

Once he was on the plane, he stuck his carry on into the overhead compartment and sat down in his assigned seat. Next to him were an older couple, who both smiled at him sweetly. He returned the smile before pulling out his headphones and turning on music, making sure he had downloaded music into offline mode before he left.

The plane soon got ready to take off, the stewardesses going through the emergency processes and notifying everyone to keep their seat belts on during takeoff.

Vincent zoned everything out afterward, getting lost in his music and thoughts about his soulmate.

The plane touched down on the runway, jolting Vincent awake. He quickly sat up, turning off the music on his now almost-dead phone. The couple next to him also woke up, seeming to have fallen asleep as well.

Soon, they were allowed to unbuckle and grab their luggage. Vincent waited for the people across the aisle to grab their bags and unboard before standing up and grabbing his. He also pulled down the luggage for the couple next to him, knowing they wouldn't move fast enough for the impatient people behind him. He handed their bags to them and let them get off in front of him, giving them space. They thanked him in French, to which he smiled and responded back.

He trailed behind them with his bag, walking out into the main area of the airport they were in.

Vincent pulled out his phone, texting Clay to let him know he landed.

(Now in EST timezone, I did my math people)

Vincent 1:34pm:

Just landed, no crashes.

Surprisingly, the response came instantly again.

Clay 1:34pm:

I'm glad you didn't die

Vincent 1:35pm:

So what have you been up to?

When he didn't get a reply right away, he stuck his phone back in his pocket and assumed the boy was busy.

Then, a voice came from behind him.

"Oh, I've just been on a plane to surprise my soulmate, nothing much."

Vincent whipped around, seeing the light brown haired boy standing behind him, a bag in one hand and his phone in the other.

He gave the French boy a goofy smile. Vincent ran to the boy, pulling him into his arms. Clay's arms wrapped around Vincent's back, pulling him closer.

"What are you doing here?" Vincent questioned, pulling back to look at the boy.

"I talked to my dad and he said I could come back. He leased an apartment for me, just so I could come back here with you."

Vincent looked at him skeptically, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I have to go back in a few weeks, so I didn't want to get your hopes up. I'll be back after that, though."

All Vincent did was pull him in for a kiss.
