Zak awoke feeling unnaturally warm. His forehead was dripping with beads of sweat, his legs feeling extremely overheated.

He could feel a pressure on his stomach and he opened his eyes to see exactly what the cause was.

Zak smiled, seeing Darryl fast asleep with his head on Zak, his body also pinning the boy's legs down. He ran a hand through Darryl's light brown hair, grinning even larger when the older boy sighed.

Suddenly, a feeling came over Zak.

He needed to use the bathroom. Now.

Not sure of what to do, he rubbed his face with his hands. He balled his fists and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, opening them wider to look around.

An idea came to the raven haired boy's mind, and he grinned once more. First, he tested how far he could lean without moving Darryl's head too much. Once he figured out he could lean his face down to Darryl's , he commenced his plan.

He peppered kisses all over the sleeping boy's face, causing his nose to scrunch and a groan to emit from his throat. His eyelids fluttered, opening slowly. When he noticed it was Zak, he smiled lazily.

"Good morning, little muffin."

His voice was groggy and lower than normal, which wasn't very low.

Zak chuckled at the nickname, grazing his fingertips over Darryl's cheek.

"Good morning, handsome."

Immediately, a blush formed on Darryl's cheeks. He buried his face in Zak's chest, and the younger boy could feel his smile through his own shirt.

Remembering why he woke the man up, he dragged his body to sit up taller, pulling Darryl with him. "Get up, please. I really need to use the bathroom."

Darryl was quick to sit up, pulling his body away. Zak frowned at the sudden lack of warmth.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry. The bathroom is the first door on the left in the hall." He stretched as he spoke, straining some of the words. Zak thanked him and stood up, also stretching as he did so.

Before he headed down the hall, he turned and gave Darryl a quick peck on the lips.

Darryl smiled, standing up as well. He made his way to the kitchen where he pulled out a box of pancake mix and some chocolate chips.

He heard the toilet flush and the faucet running in the bathroom, so he began to prepare the batter. He poured some in a bowl and mixed it with a little water, guessing until he got the right consistency.

Arms wrapped around him from behind and a face buried itself in his back.

"What's cookin', good lookin'?" Zak's voice giggled in his ear. Darryl turned around, wrapping his arms around Zak.

He placed a kiss on Zak's cheek, holding him close.

"Depends, what do I get out of it?" Darryl smirked, looking down at the boy in his arms. Zak peered up at him, thinking for a moment.

"14 kisses."

"That's not enough!"

"Uh, 14 a day?"

"Still not enough." Darryl pouted down at the the boy, his green eyes twinkling with mischief.

Zak leaned his head up and placed another quick kiss on Darryl's lips.

"Well, there's a start." He giggled, stepping away from Darryl. The taller boy smiled at him, stepping forward at the same time Zak stepped back.

Zak raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms in front of him. "What are you doing, hmm?"

"Oh, nothing," Darryl smirked, stepping even closer. "Just this!"

He lunged forward and grabbed Zak's hips, digging his fingers in and tickling. The dark haired boy jerked at the movement, and then doubled over in laughter.

"Darryl," he gasped in between laughs, "Stop... it!"

He managed to get out of Darryl's grasp and he ran to the living room, the taller boy got on his heels. Zak jumped onto the couch, holding up a throw pillow.

"Come any closer and I'll attack."

Darryl smirked, inching his way closer to the boy. Unfortunately for him, Zak noticed and unleashed his attack upon the man.

He jumped down, hurling the pillow over his shoulder toward Darryl. It soared through the air and hit him square in the face, knocking his glasses on the ground.

Darryl stood frozen for a moment before he bent down, grabbing his glasses and putting them back on.

"Oh, now it's on."

Zak screeched, knowing he was in trouble. He bolted down the hall, hearing Darryl's footsteps thundering behind him. He slid into Darryl's bedroom, the only room that had the door open. Once he was inside, he slammed the door behind him and leaned against it.

A voice came from behind the door, making Zak giggle.

"You can't hide forever, you muffin!"

"Watch me!" Zak called back, pushing his back harder against the door.

While he was holding the door closed, he took a moment to look around Darryl's room. It was simple, a queen sized bed pushed into the corner, red sheets laying messily on top. His pillows were black, like most of the rest of the room. He had a few posters hanging on the wall, but the one that struck Zak the most was the framed rainbow above Darryl's bed.

"Hey, why do you have a rainbow in here?" Zak called to the other side of the door, hoping Darryl was still there.

He heard a small cough before he heard words. "Oh, that? I just like rainbows." Darryl replied, his voice somewhat quiet.

"You couldn't even see the colors of them before last week, you muffin." Zak teased.

Darryl was quiet for a few moments, and Zak was worried he angered him. He turned around, putting his hand on the handle of the door.

Before he turned it, he heard Darryl again.

"Okay, the real reason is stupid. Don't make fun of me."

"I promise I won't."

Darryl paused again.

"I hung it up there to remind myself of what I would see when I met you, even if I was fighting myself about the whole thing. I couldn't see the colors, and I got used to it. I already told you I didn't want to meet my soulmate, but that obviously changed. Now, I can see every color in that rainbow."

Zak could feel his cheeks heat up, his face becoming a bright pink.

Taking a deep breath, he turned the handle and opened the door. In the hall, Darryl was leaning against the wall with his head hanging low.

He placed a hand on Darryl's chin, pulling his face to look into Zak's eyes.

Darryl smiled at the younger boy, his eyes filling with tears. Zak took his thumb and wiped them away, bringing Darryl's forehead to lean against his own.

"Have I ever told you how pretty your eyes are?"

Darryl laughed, pulling away from Zak. He looked down and grabbed the dark haired boy's hand, tugging him back into the kitchen.

"No, but thank you, little muffin." He smiled back at him. "Now, can we make food?"

Zak nodded, allowing Darryl to pull his hand away and get back to mixing the batter. Since it had been sitting, it thickened a little bit too much. Darryl took the bowl and added a little bit more water, mixing it all together.

"Do you want to pour?" He looked over at Zak, who was watching him intently. The dark haired boy shook his head, his hair swaying with the gesture.

While Darryl focused on cooking, Zak decided to stare at him. It was the only logical thing to do, right?

He watched as Darryl put a hand on his hip, humming as he flipped the pancakes. His hair was flat against his forehead and his glasses were low on his nose. He had a little smile on his lips, and Zak wished he knew what he was thinking about.

"Are we dating?"

Darryl stopped mid-flip, his body frozen as the words came from Zak's mouth.

It took him a moment to compose himself, but once he did, he took all the pancakes off the pan so they didn't burn. He then turned to look at Zak, who was staring at him.

"I-I mean, it's up to you?" He stuttered, trying to stay calm. He wasn't sure how to respond.

"So if I say yes, you're my boyfriend?"

"Yes?"

"Ok, boyfriend."
