《Badly Broken》Chapter 14

I was sitting on the edge of my bed intensely staring at the screen of my phone.

Do I open it? Do I not? Maybe I should wait to reply.

I was biting my nails as I looked at a new email notification that had sent my anxiety into overdrive.

It was from Mad Dog, my request to meet with Song Byungjoon had finally been processed.

I hesitantly pressed on the email and was met with a short and straight to the point response,

Hello Furiae, I had used my fight name in the email, afterall, it was technically an illegal organization and I didn't need my information going around, I did hear some rumors that they were trying to go legit though. As per your request to meet with Mr. Song, we have prepared a meeting time. Upon entering, you will be required to go through a security check which involves a weapons search. Due to Mr. Song's busy schedule, his only opening is today, Saturday, at 3:00pm. If you cannot attend please let us know ASAP so your meeting can be rescheduled some time next month or whenever Mr. Song's schedule allows. The location is at our headquarters, located at 3725 Huntington Street, Evenglade CA. When you arrive please go to the front desk and tell the receptionist your name, you will receive further instructions from there. Mr. Song looks forward to finally meeting the winner of Triple O. -Mad Dog

Damn, today? That's so fast.

I immediately replied letting them know I would be there. My mind was a mess with so many thoughts swirling around.

What questions should I ask Song Byungjoon?

How should I phrase it?

What if he's helping my dad hide?

What if he acts hostile towards me?

Would he be willing to help me? He has no reason to.

What if he doesn't even know where my dad is?

I began to pace back and forth in my small room, repeatedly walking the short length from my desk to the door of my bathroom.

What should I wear? Should I change?

Maybe a suit, I should be professional, right?

Wait, no. A suit would be too much.

I paused in front of the mirror and looked at what I had on. I think it is acceptable enough, I mean it's not like I'm interviewing for a job or anything. I scanned at myself from head to toe. Yes, this was a-okay for the occasion. I had on tight black skinny jeans, and if I do say so myself, damnnnn my thighs are thicc, and a light, pastel blue collared shirt over a plain white tee that was tucked into my pants.

I combed my hands through my hair, moving and styling the straight black stands so they were slightly out of my eyes and away from my face, allowing my hazel eyes to show.

I took an extra second to admire myself in the mirror, and if I do say so myself, I'm fucking hot.

I sat back down on my bed, satisfied with how I looked, and pulled up Jack's contact on my phone to see if he could give me a ride.

I pressed call on his contact which I saved as Intuitive Bastard, what can I say, the man is smart and he likes to use it against people.

I pulled my phone up to my ear as I listened to the constant ringing. After seven rings it went to voicemail so I hung up and tried again, but no answer. It was around 1:50pm and knowing Zay, I'm sure he forced Jack to drive him to some party somewhere last night and were both probably fast asleep right now.

I switched to my contacts list to see if I knew anyone else who could drive me, but then I realized that I only have three saved numbers in my phone. Jack, Zay, and Lucas.

My thumb hovered over Lucas's contact. If I took the bus it would take nearly two hours to get there, but If Lucas drives me, I can get there in under an hour.

My parting with Lucas was a little awkward this morning since I left right after we finished eating. Neither of us said a word about his mom thinking we were in a relationship and I would have denied it, but it would have made things so uncomfortable whilst his whole family was present.

My choice seemed clear as taking the bus would make me miss the entire meeting. I tapped on Lucas's name and my phone barely rang for a second before he picked up.

"Hey Kai, whats up?" He asked me.

"Yo, are you dressed right now?" I turned to look at my clock, it was now a couple minutes after 2:00 pm.

"Yeah?" Lucas questioned.

"Can you give me a ride somewhere, If I take the bus I'll be hella late."

I could hear him opening and closing drawers in the background, "Sure, I'll be at your place in like 5ish minutes," his car keys made a jingling noise as he picked them up.

"Okay, thanks man, see you in a bit." I hung up and decided to look up Song Byungjoon one last time to see if I could find any pictures of him.

All I got was yet another failed google search. I was curious as to what the man behind the largest underground fight club in the world looked like.

I heard footsteps approaching my door and then a soft knock. I opened the door and saw Lucas wearing loose, baggy blue jeans that were being held up with a simple black belt that looked similar to mine. His dark green shirt had a blush grey tint and was loosely tucked into his pants, it made his green eyes look like a shade of turquoise.

Our style was kind of similar now that I'm really looking at him.

I opened my door, grabbing my wallet and key, locking the door behind me, "What, no leather jacket today?" I asked playfully.

He smiled, "Nah, I rushed out when you called me and forgot it."

"Oh, sorry. But thanks for giving me a ride, I would've been so screwed if it weren't for you."

A conniving smirk made its way onto Lucas's face, "You're wrong." He stated, "I did screw you."

Unknowingly, a blush made its way onto my face, "Fuck you, dont twist my words."

Lucas tossed his head back in laughter, "Oh come on, Kai! Your reactions are priceless."

"Priceless huh?" I mumbled, "I'll show you something that's priceless!" I yelled as I kicked the back of Lucas's knee causing him to awkwardly fall to the ground.

I ran away laughing like a madman with an angry Lucas hot on my tail.

"Come back here you little piece of shit!" He sounded angry but the smile on his face said otherwise.

I sprinted down the stairs and towards his car in the parking lot and beat him to the car door. I quickly pulled on the handle as Lucas was catching up, but the door was locked.

"Fuck," I was still pulling on the handle hoping for some miracle, but I was out of luck.

I turned around as Lucas's run slowed down, pushing myself as far into the passenger side door as I could.

Lucas had a devilish grin on his face and pinned me against his car, his arms on either side of me, trapping me between them.

We were face to face and both of us were breathing heavily, still catching our breaths.

Neither of us said a word, but we were both grinning like idiots. Sure we may be 17, but on the inside aren't we all just kids.

Our breathing slowed down and the silence enveloped us into a different kid of atmosphere.

I was staring into his eyes and he into mine. We held eye contact but I couldn't help but lower my gaze to his full lips. He slowly juttet his tongue out, licking his bottom lip then slightly tugging it between his teeth.

I could feel myself slowly leaning towards the brown-haired boy. With my face only inches from him, I paused for a slight second. I turned my gaze back towards Lucas's green eyes and then closed the gap between us.

My eyes fluttered closed as Lucas wrapped both of his arms around my waist, pulling me flush against his body.

Neither of us even needed to ask for entrance as our tongues dived into each other's mouths on instinct. Our mouths moved against each other in perfect rhythm, our heads constantly moving to get a better angle.

I let out a soft moan when Lucas took my tongue between his teeth, gently biting it as his hands fell down and grabbed my ass.

I moved my hand into his hair in an attempt to brush though it but then, "Hey!! Get a fucking room!!"

I quickly pushed Lucas away and turned my head in the direction of the voice only to be met with my neighbor, the same one who had slipped a note under my door weeks ago after Lucas and I hooked up.

I waved him off and shouted a quick "Sorry!" as Lucas unlocked his car and both of us got in, both looking like blushing idiots.

Well that was embarrassing. That was our first time kissing since we slept together. It feels.... nice.

Lucas cleared his throat, "So where are we going?" He asked.

My eyes widened, "Oh shit!" I pulled out my phone and looked at the time, it was already 2:30 and the drive was at least 60 minutes. "I need to get to Evenglade by 3:00..." I trailed off, knowing I was going to be late and that I completely fucked everything up.

Good job Kai. Way to go. I'm such a dumbass, I need to stop thinking with my dick and start thinking with my head.

"Evenglade??" Lucas exclaimed, "But that's literally an hour away, why didn't you ask me to pick you up earlier?" Lucas started his car and had already pulled out of the parking lot by the time he had finished his sentence.

"I didn't even know I was going to have to go to Evenglade, I called you like 10 minutes after I found out."

"Shit," Lucas bit his lip while changing lanes, he was already going 15 over the speed limit in a residential area. "No, I can get you there in 30. Definitely."

He looked determined so I decided against arguing, even if that meant possibly dying while going 120mph on the freeway.

"So what do you even need to do in Evenglade?" Lucas asked.

"I'm meeting Song Byungjoon." I told him.

"The owner of Mad Dog? Why aren't you just meeting him at Mad Dog? It's only a 20 minute drive from your house."

"I wish," I rolled my eyes, "I got an email and they didn't give any room for time or place negotiations. Apparently it's where Mad Dog's headquarters is."

"Headquarters? Isn't that kind of too official for an illegal fight club?"

"I said the exact same thing."

-----

He did it. That dipshit actually managed to get me all the way to Evenglade in 30 minutes. And we didn't get pulled over by cops. We didn't crash, and to my surprise, I didn't die.

We were in the parking garage under the building and as I stepped out of the car Lucas asked, "So, do you want me to come with you? If not I can just find a coffee shop or something and wait there," he suggested.

"Nah, I'm sure it'll be fine if you come with me."

We walked through the dimly lit lot to an elevator which led us to the first floor.

The second the doors opened it became evident just how much money Mad Dog was making. And shit, they were making bank. The floors looked to be a white marble and the walls were pristine and clean granite with silver embellishments along the edges of every corner in sight.

We approached the front desk which was made out of the same marble-like material as the floor. There was a young woman sitting there, typing something on her computer.

When she heard our footsteps she glanced up, but she didn't look at us, it was more of noticing our presence. The blonde had glasses resting on the tip of her nose and was wearing a yellow pantsuit.

She didn't look up, even as we approached her desk.

I crossed my arms and placed them, resting, on the counter in front of the receptionist. Lucas's back was leaning into the counter with his body facing towards me.

"Hi," I smiled sweetly, "I'm here for a meeting with Mr. Song at 3 O'clock."

"Yes, of course," she spoke, not even sparing me and Lucas a glance. "Let me check it for you. Aaand you areee," her words were drawn out and she clicked away at her computer application. "F-f-furiae??" Her eyes were as wide as saucers.

"Y-you, you're, you're him? You're Furaie?" She stutters again, she looked as if she was about to pass out.

"Yes?" I was confused by her reaction.

The blonde then let out a deafening squeal, "OH MY GOD IM SUCH A BIG FAN!! I can't believe I'm actually seeing you in person! Oh my god I can't believe this is real, I must be dreaming!"

I took a step back, shocked by her reaction, "Im sorry, what?"

"I've seen all of your fights at Mad Dog, you're so amazing and talented and handsome!"

"Oh, um thanks?" I'd never met anyone that recognized me from the fight scene before, this was truly a first. And it's not like i'm some celebrity or anything so I don't really understand why she's reacting like this.

"So can we go up and meet the big boss, or..." Lucas interrupted.

"Oh!" That must have brought her back to reality since she adjusted her glasses on her face and straightened her blazer. "Yes, all you have to do it go the 7th floor, the only office up there is Mr. Song's so you can't miss it."

I awkwardly smiled at her and muttered a quick, "thanks."

Lucas was slightly ahead of me on our way back to the elevator when I heard a camera clicking.

I turned around to see the receptionist with her phone out, secretly taking pictures.

I furrowed my brows in confusion and met her eyes with a what are you doing look written on my face.

"Oh, sorry," she started, "but would you mind taking a quick picture with me?" The blonde asked with a hopeful look in her eyes.

"Uh, sure? Why not." I looked at Lucas who appeared to be equally just as confused as me.

She ran out from behind her desk and came up towards me. Her stature was small, probably only about 5'3. Her head stopped just short of my shoulders and she leaned into me, holding her phone up to take a selfie.

"Okay! Smile!" She said as I leaned down so our faces were level, plastering a nice smile on my face. "1. 2. 3."

"Can I take one with you and your friend in it too?" She asked with a slight blush on her face.

I looked over to Lucas and shrugged my shoulders. He just shrugged his back and walked over towards us. Lucas stood on her right and I was on her left as she took a couple more pictures.

Once she was done she thanked us over and over again with a giant smile on her face.

We made our way to the elevator and got off on the 7th floor. The atmosphere was the complete opposite of the bright lighting of the white lobby. The floor was made out of dark, polished wood, and the walls were black.

The receptionist was right, you really can't miss his office. The entire floor is completely open with nearly no rooms except a double door in the far right of the room.

"Is it just me or is it kinda creepy up here?" Lucas asked as we slowly walked towards Mr. Song's office, looking at our barren surroundings.

"No, it's not just you," I shuddered,"there's kind of an eerie feeling."

"I think that's just the AC." Lucas deadpanned.

"Oh."

I knocked on the door three times and then stood there in silence, waiting for an answer. Lucas and I both stared at the door intensely with stiff bodies.

Neither of us knew what to expect when meeting him.

Then I heard a loud, deep booming voice, "Come in."

I looked over at Lucas. He looked back at me and then opened the door. I went in and he followed behind me.

The office was similar to the rest of the floor. It was dark and had a weird vibe. He has a large black desk in the middle of the room that nearly stretched from one wall to the opposite wall. There were black shelves and cabinets lining the back corners and a large painting on the right side of the room, it was of Muhammad Ali.

I then turned my gaze in the direction of the large, middle-aged man sitting at the desk, Song Byungjoon. He couldn't have been taller than me, but he was not shorter than Lucas. He was wearing a full suit with black trousers, a black vest, and a black jacket over his black dress shirt.

I'm getting the feeling that he likes the color black... this place feels like a funeral home.

The large, buff man stood up and walked around his desk towards me. He reached his hand out, shaking mine with a strong grip, "Furiae, it's a pleasure to finally meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Song." I said as I let go of his hand.

"Please, call me Joon, there's no need for the winner of Triple O to be so formal with me." He took a seat at his giant desk once again and gestured for us to sit in the two chairs across from him.

"You're probably wondering why I asked to meet with you, I know that it's not normal for fighters to meet with-" Joon cut me off.

"I know why you're here, Kai." The man said, looking straight into my eyes, it almost seemed as if he was challenging me.

"You know who I am?" I questioned, truly confused. I had never given any real information to the association, not even when I first started fighting at Mad Dog and was just 14. I made sure to keep everything confidential.

"You know, Kai," He paused, "you have your father's eyes."

"Oh," I said softly. I never would have thought he'd be able to recognize me.

"I've known you have been fighting Mad Dog for three years now, it is not news to me."

"I see."

"Most of the people who have won a championship ask to meet with me, you're not the first. It's usually to ask for some sort of prize or even stocks, but why do I get the feeling that this isn't the case with you?" Joon questioned.

"Because it isn't." I stated bluntly. "I'm not going to beat around the bush."

Joon looked intrigued by my straight-forward attitude so I kept going, "I'm sure you're aware of the things my father did after my mother's death, right?"

He shifted in his seat, clearly uncomfortable with the turn of the conversation, "Yes, I am aware of some of the things that happened."

I hesitated. I took a second to compose myself, "I would like it if you could help me find him."

"You want to find that bastard? After everything he did to you, why?"

"I want revenge." I knew there was a fire in my eyes, there was no avoiding the hare coursing through me.

"Hmm," Joon scratched his chin in thought, "you shouldn't kill him though."

"I won't, I just want him in prison, locked away for the rest of his life." I was honest.

"I see," He had a serious expression on his face. "I won't sugar coat things, but truthfully, I don't know where Sanho is. I lost contact with him after Haeun died."

"That's understandable," I said as I started to panic inside. Out of all the things that could have gone wrong, this was the absolute worst. If I can't even find the man then everything I've done for the past five years will be meaningless.

"Can't you help us find him?" Lucas spoke for the first time since entering the room.

Joon smiled, but it wasn't simply one of happiness, but rather one full of scheming and conniving.

"I can," he stated.

"So you'll help me find my father?" I asked hopefully.
