《Seeing Double》33

"You ready?" Kelley asks as I run my fingers through her hair.
Today we're playing the Spirit in the first semi-final of the Playoffs. We, Utah, are the 3 seed while Washington is the 2 seed. The other semi-final is Portland versus the Courage and the game will be played in North Carolina.
I have no clue what happened to the Reign and Portland to make them fall.
After we beat Portland 3-2 both teams either drew or lost their next two games. The two teams then played each other in Washington on the next to last match day. Tobin scored a hat trick and lead the Thorns to a 3-0 win and put them 2 points ahead going into the last game. On the last match day Portland played Washington and tied 1-1 while Reign FC played Orlando and won 2-0, but the Reign lost out on a playoff spot by 1 goal so Portland secured the number 4 spot.
"It's just another game Kels." I say.
"Your also captaining us for the first time though."
Becky got a red card somehow in our last game so she can't play today which sucks.
"Why am I captaining us? Surely it should be someone who's been here longer." I say as Kelley starts painting my nails.
"It was Laura's decision." Kelley says as she picks up the pink nail polish
I rest my head against my twins back and tune out the chatter around us.
"Done." Kelley says a minute or so later.
Kelley drys my nails then she returns to her locker. I wait for my nails to dry then I put on my lime green keeper jersey and a few seconds later Christen helps me strap on the captains armband. The rest of the starters and I head to the tunnel and wait to be lead onto the pitch.

A minute or so later we are lead out onto the field by the refs and a few seconds after that the anthems are played. After the anthems are over we shake hands with Washington and the refs then Andi Sullivan and I do the coin toss. Once that's done we have a team huddle then Kelley and I walk to our positions.
"Have fun." Kelley says when she gets to her position, but I have to keep going.
Let's just get this fucking game over with.

"It's okay Mal." I say as I hug my favorite 21 year old. "You'll win it next year."
We beat the Spirit 3-0 with 2 of our goals coming from A-Rod and the third came from Gunny. Mal almost had the first goal of the game, but the linesman called it offside even though it wasn't.
"This sucks." Mal says and sniffles.
"I know it does Mal Pal, but you guys have a good team here and I know for a fact you guys will boss the league again next year."
"Maybe." Mal mumbles.
"Are you, Andi, and Rose Still up for Pizza at your place with us?"
"We are." Rose says as she and Andi approach.
"Good game you two." I say and hug the young midfielders.
"Thanks." Andi says.
"I guess we'll see you guys at your apartment." I say.
The three youngsters nod then they go over to their team so I walk around the field and sign some stuff. Once that's done I walk back to the locker room as the team loiter on the field. After I get into the locker room I notice I'm alone so I change out of my kit, take a shower, then I put on my street clothes.

I finish changing moments before the team come into the locker room so I wait for Kelley, Christen, and A-Rod to change out of their kits, clean them selves, then change into their street clothes. Once the three women are changed we grab our stuff then head outside and meet Becky by the car she rented.
"Great job guys." Becky says then she hugs us. "We gotta pick up the pizza then we'll head to the Spirit girls apartment."
Kelley, Christen, A-Rod, and I put our bags in the trunk then we get in the car and head to the pizza place. When we get to the pizza place Kelley and A-Rod go inside for five minutes then return with 3 large pizzas. Becky then drives to Mal, Andi, and Rose's apartment where we park before we head up to the apartment.
"Hey." Rose says when she opens the door.
The five of us walk into the apartment then I put the pizza's in the kitchen.
"Hey Mal Pal." I say and hug the young girl. "Ready to watch your girlfriend?"
"Yeah." Mal says and smiles. "The game's about to start."
"Well let's get some pizza and watch our girls."
Everyone gets the pizza we want then we head into the living room. Once in the living room I notice there aren't enough seats so I sit down, grab Kelley's pizza, then motion for her to sit on my lap as Mal sits next to me. My twin sits on my lap then we eat our food while watching Portland pressure the courage.
In the 20th minute my girlfriend has a break away so I cover Kelley's ears.
"GO YOU BEAUTIFUL HUMAN." I shout as Tobin closes in on goal then I remove my hands from over Kelley's ears.
"Fucking hell Astrid." Christen says and rubs her ear.
"That's my girlfriend." I say after Tobin scores.
The rest of the half goes by pretty swiftly and once halftime rolls around the Thorns are still up 1-0. During halftime Kelley takes our trash then she refills our drinks and returns as our highlights are shown.
"Geez that ref sucked." I say as Mal's 'offside' goal is shown.
"So true." Mal says.
The rest of the highlights are shown then the 2nd half starts.
Both teams come out firing, but AD and Labbé keep everything out for the last 45 minutes so when the whistle blows the Thorns win 1-0.
"Looks like you're playing your girlfriend." Kelley says with a smirk.
Shit.

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.

His house was beyond fun and games during the summer for a young girl who was taught to love adventures. Now years later she is about to find her own way to adventures she never dreamed of. And maybe, never wanted.

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
