Lena woke up, her body totally sweaty.
She knew her nose was bleeding. The liquid that was running down her mouth tasted like blood. She got up in a rush, tried not to wake Ashley up, and got out of the room. But her efforts were useless, because she came across Alyssa and Kealia. The two girls just looked at her, panicked, before Lena just ran toward the bathroom. She knew what would happen next.
She suddenly coughed up profuse quantities of blood in the sink, while the goalkeeper and the middy were entering the room. They saw the younger player of the team looking helpless. Alyssa immediately grabbed Lena's hips so that she wouldn't fall because she lost a lot of blood all in once. Kealia stood next to them, trying to understand what would happen.
Kealia softly caressed Lena's back. Once the youngster stopped coughing, she tried to give her a confident smile, and asked :
"Do we need to call 911 ?" she asked, caring as she always was.
"N-no" Lena weakly let out.
But she knew Kealia wasn't directly talking to her. Alyssa, on the other hand, knew that very well. She was used to taking care of people ; her sister had diabetic problems, which meant that she had to be very careful.
The keeper looked at Lena. "No, I don't think so." she wisely said, before turning to face Lena. "But we are going to take a little walk tonight, because I know you're hiding something from us."
Kealia seemed pretty uncomfortable.
"But maybe you don't want to talk to me about it. I'd totally understand, just... Tell me if you want me to go" she then said.
Lena didn't really know why, but she really liked Kealia. She was a well-driven girl, and also very clever and nice. "You can stay".

Kealia nodded, while Alyssa was looking for some jackets for the trio. Once she came back with them, she handled them to the two girls. They then went out. Lena told them about her secret, and made them swear not to tell anyone, because Mark wouldn't let her play. They then made a deal : if something bad happened, Alyssa and Kealia would explain everything to the medical team, and order them to send her home so that she could get some treatment.
But Lena knew that if something bad happened, she'd be on a thin line between life and death. Her heart would stop. Or maybe her brain. Everything could go wrong. And Alyssa knew that. She knew she had to take care of the forward.
Lena felt relieved somehow.
The plane took off at 6:43. They then landed in Marseilles, in a very tiny airport. Their bus was late because of traffic, so the girls had to wait for two hours. They settled on the ground in a park nearby, and formed a circle, all 23 of them. Mark was observing them, pretty happy to see that the team was getting along like a real family.
Abby was the one breaking the silence. She wrapped her arm around Syd's shoulders, and the two besties laughed ; that meant they had an idea in mind.
"What about playing 'would you rather' ?" Abby asked, excited.
"Oh, come on !" Christen exclaimed, wrapping her arm around Julie's shoulders.
"Got a better idea ?" The blonde coach exclaimed.
Christen rolled her eyes. She knew nobody could make Abby change her mind. Alex, who was sitting between Tobin and Servando, chuckled, while Allie and Kelley exchanged a bored look. The other girls just nodded in agreement. They all agreed on not going easy on everyone, and start with the weird questions immediately.

So when Kelley was the first one to ask a question, some girls suddenly felt their bodies tense up.
"Sonnett" the freckled girl let out in a mysterious tone. The defender immediately knew she was in an awful position : those games weren't exactly relationships fixers. So when she saw Kelley winking at her, she wondered what she discovered on her. "Would you rather... date Sam, or kiss a total stranger in the middle of the street and find out that he's a rapist ?"
The reactions were various, but tended to be the 'what the fuck did you make up Kelley' kind of reaction. Sonnett felt relieved ; at least Kelley didn't mention Lindsey.
"Uhm, dating Sam, obviously" she sarcastically let out.
Sam gave her a high five.
But Emily felt a cold look on her. She turned her head an caught eyes with Lindsey, who seemed to be pretty upset. They hadn't talked about the quick kiss Emily gave her during the game, and the defender didn't want to have that talk because she was terrified. But she knew she owed that to Lindsey, because she obviously was lost, and also jealous of Sam, which didn't make any sense since they were friends, and Sam had a boyfriend.
It was Sonnett's turn to come up with a question.
"Mallory" she slowly said, trying to think about something fun to ask. "Would you rather die because someone drowned you, or because you were hit by a bus ?"
Sonnett knew she better not be asking anything about relationships, because Lindsey would obviously be upset about it. Mal rolled her eyes. She was sitting very close to Jenko, which amazed the people around them. Syd was the first one in line, shocked that her friend had officially made a new friend.
"Hit by a bus, so that I don't have to come back as a ghost and take my revenge" she said, biting her apple. "I'm a lazy dead person." Some girls shook their heads, smiling. "Okay, Ashley" she then went on. "Would you rather date Lena or that douche we came across the other day ?"
Someone was very happy to be seating in a dead angle, where only three girls could see her : and it was Ashley. She blushed, while letting a small "Lena" out. Mal frowned, trying to figure out why her friend was blushing. Ashley was the kind of person not to talk about anything, and she didn't like her personal life to be exposed. Mal bit her lips : she knew she shouldn't have done that.
Ashley sighed.
"Tobin" she called. "Would you rather score goals like Crys, or be a hell of a defender like Jules ?"
The co-captain burst into laughter.
"Well" she said in her usual 'chill tone'. "I really like both. But Imma chose Jules, because she's the co-captain and I don't want her to hate me for not choosing her. Love you Blondie".
The game went one for quite a long time, before the bus finally arrived. They discovered Marseilles, a beyond-beautiful city. As it already was pretty dark, they saw the beautiful lightening by the harbor. When they walked near the water, and that they were far behind the other, Allie let her hand slip on Kelley's. The freckled girl looked at her in awe : she couldn't decide what was more beautiful : the sight of that beautiful European city, or Allie. Of course, her mind already chose the winner.
It's always Allie.
{A/N : So, that's Marseilles. It's a beautiful city, really different from other big cities, because it feels like we walk on a village more than a big city. The stadium is well-known in France.}

The Last Orellen is a long, character-focused progression fantasy set in a vast universe about a boy's journey to become a powerful mage. Reviews are deeply appreciated. Please do not repost my work elsewhere without my written permission. What type of reader is this book for? You might enjoy The Last Orellen if you like... Clever and resourceful protagonists. Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. If you're more about the journey than the destination, this might be the book for you. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Covenant Sinners: The Origin of a Demon Queen
Demon-slayer knight Hector Aeronwen became an enemy of all humankind after saving a dying half-demon girl out of pity. Little did he know, his impulsive action had forever changed the course of the world and the fates of many. This is the story about Hector's desperate quest and the beginning of the demoness whose destiny is to shake the world to its very foundation. Author's note: At the risk of spoiling too much of this story, I want to reveal a bit about the core idea behind this work of fiction. I set out with the idea to write a story in the perspective of the second in command of a demon lord, which then would be followed up with large scale kingdom buildings and warring states. But then I asked myself: what past do they have between them for the Demon Lord to have so much faith in her second in command, and for him to be so loyal to such a horrible being? So this is my attempt at writing the origin of those two, who, while hated by all races in the world, still have each other as the only confidant to entrust their life to. If you are like me and want to see where this premise, with a vague destination in mind, will lead to, please have a read and give me your valued feedback!

Gray's Crucible
“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
