Kelley was walking back and forth in front of her fellow defender teammates. Everybody knew she still was angry with herself after her mistake during the match. They now were already four days afterwards, on a quiet Wednesday evening.
The co-captain was rolling her eyes.
"Kels, you don't need to blame yourself forever" Julie argued, trying to cheer her up.
"Dude, I allowed an almost goal because I wasn't focused enough" Kelley answered angrily.
"Then you'll just focus more on Saturday, that's it !" the blonde immediately said. She didn't like it when a teammate of hers was being to hard on herself. It happened a lot, actually, especially with people like Carli Lloyd or Christen Press on her team. People just are willing to blame themselves whenever something bad happened. And Julie just didn't think it was helping, not at all. "And you said it yourself, it was an almost goal".
"Only because the weirdo saved it" the freckled girl argued. When she saw the look on Julie's face, she immediately softened. She knew the blonde would kick her ass if she continued to say things like these. And even though Julie looked like a cinnamon roll and was four years younger than she was, Kelley didn't want her to get angry. "Fine, it wasn't that of a disaster."
That made Sonnett laugh. "You finally admit it" she let out, smiling. "Can someone tell the coach that Kels is way more stubborn than I am ?"
She earned a death glare from the brunette, but couldn't care less.
"So" Saskia let out with confidence. Even though the blonde was a newbie and was pretty young, she wasn't afraid to talk to her teammates. She wasn't some sort of overconfident bitch or something, but she just thought her teammates weren't here to judge every single thing she was saying. "Can someone please tell me why the fuck Mark changed the whole starting XI for the game against Sweden ?"

Everybody looked at her in shock.
"What do you mean 'change the whole roster'?" Julie asked, getting paler.
"He told me he was starting Maura and I over Sonnett and Cari" Saskia explained. Emily wasn't very happy with that statement, while the other four girls were just surprised. "He said he wanted things to change."
"Is it me or we are screwed ?" Kelley asked. She then immediately added : "Not you two being in the starting XI, but like, why is he experimenting against Sweden ? He knows how important this game is, right ?"
"I bet he knows what he is doing" Julie muttered. "Do you know what other change he made ?"
Saskia seemed to think for a second. "Kealia will start over Tobin..." she started.
"Holy crap" Cari said, before shutting her mouth.
"... And then he wanted to make Sam play over Moe. And maybe like start Ashley and Sydney as forwards." Saskia went on, trying to remember every word the coach told her.
"Okay" Julie let out.
Nobody really was confident about this.
Today was the last off-day before the game against Sweden.
Since everybody wanted to go by the lake and stuff, and that Moe wanted to be alone for a while - she loved her teammates, but sometimes she just wanted to be alone, in peace - she decided to stay at the hotel. So everyone was supposed to be out but her. She started her day by having a frappe in a restaurant nearby, before watching TV for two hours straight, catching on the latest episodes of Orphan Black. It was now 1 PM, and Moe was starving.
But what Moe did not know was that Cari wasn't feeling well this morning, and she decided to stay in her room for the exact same reasons. She didn't put any makeup on today, and gathered her hair in a messy hair-bun. She really looked funny with her oversize t-shirt, and comfortable socks. She only put a boxer on, but no short or stuff.

So when she went out of the room to look for food, and that she saw Moe walking on the other direction, turning her back on her, she hid behind her door. Holy shit. Her thoughts were running in her mind. She can't see me like this ! I look like a mix between a whore and a guy that drives trucks for a living. What do I do ? Did she see me ? As she was thinking, she didn't realized there was something on the ground just next to her. So when she took a step aside, she just fell head first on the ground. Moe had obviously turned around, a little surprised scream going out of her throat. SHIT. When she saw Cari lifting her head, she started to walk towards her.
Cari got up right away.
"Cari ?" Moe asked, as the brunette was trying not to freak out too much. Moe frowned. What is she doing here ? Did she lie to me about going out today because she didn't want to spend time with me ? Maybe she hates me now ? What if she doesn't wanna be friends anymore ? Wait, why is she blushing ? And... Is she wearing a boxer ? Moe checked her out. Why does she look good while wearing weird things ? I'd look like shit if I was wearing what she's wearing ! And her eyes seem to be greener. Right ? She shook her head, trying to make those thoughts go away. "I thought you went with Lindsey."
The brunette just looked at her, panicking. "I.. uhm-well, I feel like s-shit, so I wanted to rest" Cari explained.
"Okay" Moe let out. "What about me grabbing dinner for both of us so that we can eat in your room ?"
Cari smiled. "Sure."
About seven minutes later, Moe came back with two boxes of Chinese pasta, which she knew were Cari's favorite. They settled on the bed, their shoulders touching. They were watching a game on the TV, but Moe's eyes couldn't help but stare at Cari. The brunette, on the other hand, was focusing on the game.
If Moe brought spaghetti, there was a reason. Cari had always have problems in eating them. Right now, she was struggling to put them in her mouth, and put a little bit of sauce on the corner of her lips.
Moe laughed. "You still don't know how to eat spaghetti properly, do you ?"
Cari's eyes went wide, as she rolled her eyes. "No. Those things are evil. But there isn't a proper way to eat them ! It's like.. you just eat them."
"Here" Moe said. She grabbed a towel and approached Cari's face with it. When the towel touched Cari's lips, Moe noticed that the girl was looking at her, quite surprised. Moe couldn't help but bite her own lips, trying to pull it together. She didn't rush things, only wanting this moment to last forever. She ended up cleaning the sauce, and her finger stayed on Cari's lips without her noticing it. "I, uhm-"
She saw Cari frowning, as her fingers were still on Cari's lips. She's got some very kissable lips..., Moe thought, immediately trying to push those thoughts away. She removed her hand and coughed awkwardly. They finished their meal in silence, before turning their attention on the TV again. Moe had to restrain herself from looking at Cari, because the brunette was way more interesting to her than the TV.
After several minutes, Cari got closer to Moe and rested her head on her shoulder. Moe felt her heart beat faster, and froze for a minute, as Cari's smell was invading her nose. Holy crap, why did I have to fall for her ?

A seemingly chance encounter with an ancient machine and an assassination attempt threaten to disrupt Veil’s education at the premier mage academy of Ithalaan. The bombings and terrorist actions that follow throw the entire region into chaos and draw him inexorably deeper into a mystery involving cults, gods, and ancient mysterious races. These events threaten Veil’s carefully crafted plans, but there are few limits on his ambition. He is willing to do whatever it takes to advance his schemes to become a Magus, including pursuing the illegal discipline of soul magic. While Veil isn’t a powerful mage yet, his spell wrought guns and illicit abilities will help even the playing field. The need to face down his enemies and fulfill his ambitions will send him desperately searching from Forerunner ruins in the Great Northern Forest to ancient abyssal cities within the depths of the planet. _________________________________________________________________ The book is primarily fantasy with a steampunk background. Science fiction elements won't be introduced for quite some time. I currently update my work at a rate of one chapter per week. I'm also in the process of editing chapters 1 - 7, changing the format to make it more readable, and introducing more show and less tell. The reworked chapters will have (edited) after the title. All chapters after 8 have already been written in the new style. I have a Patreon page if you wish to donate. Also, there will be intense situations, some explicit violence, and although it is not an erotic work, one or two sex scenes.

Magician's Pact
A young boy with a special key finds himself caught up with an old wizard, an ancient prohpecy, and a possibly conspercy. This sounds like the sort of thing most childern would love to be a part of, but there are just three small problems. The first is that he is not the hero. Someone already got that role. The second is that he isn't a wizard. He is a Magician which complicates things. The third is that there might be a chance that the whole 'problem' might be comming from his end. Personally he never understood (or interacted with) the 'secret' magical world, but that becomes a problem when the magical world apparently has what his role is supposed to be according to their ancient book... and they are not to happy about him not matching their book. Still it shouldn't be to hard right? All he has to do is go to a school, learn some wizard magic, make sure nobody takes his key... also avoid dying. Thankfully he has had a lot of expereince with that last part and a bunch of Twig Twirling childern can't be too dangerious? Right?
