I didn't sleep well last night so around 5 am I got up and went to my art room and started drawing. Drawing is one of my favorite things to do because it allows me to be creative and let my nervousness, anxiety, or whatever I'm feeling out and forget everything around me.
"Cairo?" I hear Alex yell at around 8 am.
"In here." I yell back. She heard me as did everyone else I gather since I hear a lot of footsteps.
"Hey what are you doing?" Alex says and sits next to me on the bench I'm sitting on while the team gather in the room. I just shrug.
"Did you draw that?" She points at the drawing of herself to which I hand it to her before it gets passed around.
"Yeah. I've drawn everyone on the team, but I end up throwing them away."
"Why?" Tobin asks now looking at the digital drawing of herself before someone passes it around.
"The drawings don't do any of you justice. They aren't good enough. Only reason I kept those three..." I pick up the drawing of Kelley and hand it to her." ...is because I did them in the days before I left for this camp and didn't have time to get rid of them."
"Holy Fuck." Kelley says.
"You okay?" Sam asks.
"How the fuck do you draw this good" Kelley says showing the team the drawing of her. I just shrug.
"Are you going to throw these away?" Alex asks.
"I haven't decided yet, but probably. I already find it creepy that I've drawn all of you so I really don't want to save them."
"Can we keep them?" Kelley asks.
"If you want." I say before looking back at the drawing I was finishing up.
"What are you drawing?" Christen ask as she sits next to me on the bench. I just slide the paper toward her and her eyes widen. "Is that what I think it is?" She asks then looks at Ali causing Ali to look at the drawing then it gets passed around.
"Yeah" I say scratching the back of my neck."Sorry Ali... I just couldn't sleep so I just started drawing. This is how I deal with stuff. I draw whatever is on my mind then crumple it up and burn it. And hopefully the memory will go away."
"So why did you draw us?"Sam asks.
"Because being around everyone of you I catch glimpses of you that look like a picture so I save that image in my mind then draw them."
"Do you save any of the things you draw?" Mal asks. I nod and grab a random folder that is filled with drawings.
"These are eyes I saw while walking around."
"I have a wolf drawing."
"This is just a lion"
"I've pretty much drawn anything you can think off."

"Even people having sex?" Pinoe says with a smirk.
"Yes." I deadpan.
"Why?"
"Money."
"Why is that one framed Cairo?" Becky asks while pointing to what she is talking about.
"That is a personal place that I hope none of you ever find out what it's from."
"Why?" Alex asks.
"Because you will then know something that I don't even want to know about myself."
"As much as I love looking at your artistic ability Cairo...do you have food?" Kling says making me laugh.
"Yes I do. I can make you some pancakes, waffles, eggs, French toast, crepes, basically anything your stomach desires." I say and some of the girls stomachs growl. "And it sounds like they desire to be feed so let's go to the kitchen." The team heads to the kitchen and I follow after I close the art room door.
I ask everyone what they want for breakfast and everyone tells me. I then proceed to cook everyones food then we eat around the kitchen.
"You could be a chef." Lindsey says while eating some crepes.
"Thanks." I say while serving myself breakfast.
"What's that?" Abby asks as I pour myself a small drink and drink it then get coffee and start to eat my breakfast.
"Lýsi"
"What is that?" Tierna asks.
"Cod liver oil."
"And why are you drinking that?"
"Habit from when I was overseas." I say and Pinoe was going to ask something else, but a phone rang across the island.
"Cairo your phone is ringing." Christen says.
"Who's calling?" I ask.
"It says Rome, Italy." I know who it may be.
"Answer it and put it on speaker please." she does. "Ciao" I say. (Hello)
"Ciao Il Cairo." An employee of mine says. (Hey Cairo)
"Cosa sta succedendo?" (What's going on?)
"Ho bisogno del tuo aiuto." SHIT (I need your help)
"Va tutto bene?" (Is everything okay?)
"Non proprio. Mio figlio ha bisogno di un intervento chirurgico e la nostra assicurazione non pagherà per questo." (Not really. My son needs a surgery and our insurance won't pay for it.)
"CHE COSA? QUEI BASTARDI." I yell and the team look at me shocked. They haven't seen me angry yet. (WHAT? THOSE BASTARDS.)
"Sì. Lo so."(Yeah. I know)
"Va bene. Tutto quello che devi fare è ottenere il vostro figlio sano. Una volta che egli è sano portami il disegno di legge. Questo è il motivo per cui abbiamo quel fondo. I tuoi figli salute viene prima. Dopo questo campo mi ci troverò nuova assicurazione."(Okay. All you need to do is get your son healthy. Once he is healthy bring me the bill. This is why we have that fund. Your sons health comes first. After this camp I will find us new insurance.)
"Grazie mille Cairo. Non posso spiegare quanto questo significhi per me e la mia famiglia."(Thank you so much Cairo. I can't explain how much this means to me and my family.)

"Ovviamente. Tienimi aggiornato sulle sue condizioni.(Of course. Keep me updated on his condition.)
"Lo farò. Addio Cairo" (I will. Goodbye Cairo)
" Addio."(Goodbye)
Alex goes to say something, but I put my hand up signaling not to say anything and I walk out the room. "DANNAZIONE"(DAMMIT) I yell then walk back into the kitchen and see the team cleaning up.
"Cairo..." Alex says tentatively and I look at her. "Is everything okay?"
"Not really."
"What's wrong?"
"The person on the phone was a friend from Italy and her son needs a surgery, but her shitty fucking insurance won't pay for it."
"Oh my god. What are they going to do?" Ali asks.
"I don't know." I say.
The team was processing what I just told them when Carli speaks up. "Guys we have to go to training. The bus is 10 minutes away. Go gather your stuff." Everyone disperses and goes to where the left their stuff. I go check every room and make sure nobody left anything then meet the team at the front door for the bus. Once it gets to my house I lock up and everyone gets on the bus and we head to training.

Training leading up to todays game has been un eventful which is good. Jill gave me the start at right center mid again. I don't think I'll ever play striker while Alex is on the team, but I don't really mind. At least I get to play.
After everyone had done their pregame routine and Jill had said what she needed to say the starter lined up on the field to begin the prematch ceremony. Christen is being honored for her 100th cap tonight and she is the captain tonight which is awesome. She received some special watch, which I find a bit odd, and she also got a special jersey then her family came on the field and celebrated with her.
After the anthems played and the teams shook hands we waited for the whistle to blow and finally it did. In the beginning of the game Chile didn't really have the ball that much and we had few opportunities but they didn't amass to anything sadly. In the 8th minute the Chilean defense weirdly let the ball run out of bounds and we got a corner kick. I stood on the edge of the 6 yard box and Tobin went to the corner. The ref blew her whistle and Tobin played the ball right to me so I jumped and headed the ball over the chilean defenders and into the back of the net.
After the ball went in I was pulled into a hug by Alex and the rest of the girls soon came over. For the next 20 or so minutes we kept the pressure on and got a couple chances from corners in the 25th minute. In the 32nd minute we got a corner kick and Tobin played the ball into the area and Julie got a head on it at the near post and sent it toward's the back post where a defender took it across the line for an own goal. A couple minutes later Lindsey had a goal disallowed because apparently she fouled the keeper, which was bullshit. Right before the break Tobin won a penalty and christen stepped up to take it, but before she could Lindsey and some Chilean defender got into a shoving match. Christen scored the penalty, but the ref called for a free kick which confused everyone. A couple seconds later the whistle blew and everyone crowded around the ref.
"Why the fuck is that not a goal?" I ask the ref.
"GO" She says and pushes me towards the locker room.
"Bitch put your hands on me again and see what happens." The ref stops and pulls out a yellow card on shows it to me. "Why do I get a yellow? Because you can't do your fucking job."
"One more word and it's a red." Becky and Carli come over and lead me away.
"Alright Cairo that's enough." Carli says.
"Bitch needs to read a rule book." I say.
"Yes she does, but we need you to not get suspended. Your too good a player to lose." Becky says.
"Aww you love me." I say making the two captains laugh.
"Yes I do." Becky says as we get into the locker room.
"Can someone explain to me what just happened?" Kling says after everyone gets into the locker room.
"The referee said Crystal stepped over the line before Christen took her shot. We all know that's not true so let's move on..." Jill continues talking about what we need to address in the second half and then tells us who is being subbed. I was taken off for Moe.
After halftime I went and joined the subs on the bench and I sat between Ash and Tobin. Christen got her goal in the 59th minute of a cross from Mal. I lost interest after that.
When the game ended we shook hands with everybody and I was forced to shake the refs hand.
"Dumbass." I say while shaking the refs hand.
"Move along little girl." She says and she goes to put her hand on me so I swat it away.
"Bitch the fuck did I tell you. Do you need a fucking hearing aid?"
"I don't need little girls whining because they didn't get a call."
"Well if you had glasses you would see that your delusional ass got that wrong. The defender stepped first which caused the attacker to then move."
"Alright Cairo she knows she fucked up." Lindsey says and drags me away. We walk into the locker room where we gather our things then sit next to each other in comfortable silence all the way to the hotel.
