Ladies first
"You're leaving me for five whole days?!" Em throws herself back on to her bed dramatically.
"Well the travelling days don't count, so technically only three whole days." I laugh, folding a sweater and tucking it into my case.
It's the end of the week, but of course i leave everything last minute and i'm only just now packing. Emmy has been complaining this whole time about how she's gonna be all alone again like how she was before i got here. It's three days.
"I can't believe this. You're gonna have fun making love to Lane in the snow while i mope around like a loner." She sighs, a arm over her head.
"What was that, Em? All i heard is 'i wanna get beat up'." I chuck one of the snow boots that Em lent me at her and it smacks down on her stomach, making her wheeze.
"How is it my fault that you're madly in love with him?" She sits up, bringing a pillow to her stomach in defence of any further attacks.
"I don't love him Em." I huff.
"But you like him?" She leans foward and rests her chin on her hands, smiling at me. As much as i'd rather eat concrete than admit it, i think i do. I can't even breath properly when he's around me anymore, my limbs weaken at his touch.
I like Lane Evans.
Emmy squeals briefly, as if she heard me say it out loud. I look up at her and roll my eyes, but i can't help smile. Suddenly the door swings open and i clap my hand over my mouth to stop myself from screaming.
Ozzy smiles at us, closing the door behind him. "I've been summoned." He says, sitting down on the floor amongst me and my clothes. He grins at me brightly, wiggling his eyebrows. I turn to Em.
"How have you already told him?" I ask, it's literally been like forty-five seconds since i came to the realisation.
Emmy holds up her phone, revealing a text that says 'code green' to Ozzy. I fucking hate my friends.
"Jules, you should tell him on the ski trip." Ozz smiles, resting his chin on his hand the way Emmy did earlier.
"What? No way!" I put the snow boots on the top of the pile and close my suitcase. "Ozz, get your heavy ass over here." I point to the bulging suitcase and he gets up, rolling his eyes.
"Bitch." He says as he sits on it, making it easier for me to zip up.
"Love you too, Siri." I pat him on the back and he stands up. I'm finally finished. I look at my watch; it's only half two, we don't leave until five.
I pull my suitcase and duffle bag over by the door, dusting off my hands. I'm honestly very proud of my earliness. That gives me two and a half hours to beat the fuck out of my friends
"Ozz, did you... you know?" Em furrows her brows a bit and Ozzy seems to know exactly what she's on about. What kinda couple telepathy is this?

Ozz walks over to her bed and leans down, mumbling something in her ear, to which she grins brightly. I thought i'd got out of third-wheeling. Emmy claps excitedly but composes herself.
"You should tell him." She says finally.
The door swings open again and this time in walks Lane, a russian ushanka hat perched on his head.
I press my lips together to stop myself from laughing.
"Someone's ready." Emmy laughs.
Lane grins, clearly pleased with himself, and then he turns to me. I subconsciously gulp. His eyes on mine are enough to make me nervous.
"Jones says we have to meet an hour before the coach leaves so we're prepared and shit." He explains.
I nod, breaking eye contact to look at the ground. Just as i do so, Lane steps in front of me and crouches down so we're face to face.
Is he doing this on purpose?
He takes the brown hat off his own head and places it on mine. I bite my lip to hold back yet another smile.
"See you in a bit jubilee." He says and i can tell he's smirking without looking up.
As soon as the door clicks shut, Ozzy and Em start silently freaking out, slapping each others legs and screaming into pillows.
I allow myself to smile now, flipping them both off.
We all laugh as the compose themselves. My friends are weirdos.
"I'm gonna miss you J." Em says as she stops laughing, her bottom lip wobbling.
"Awh, Em no don't cry." I put my hand over my heart as i stand up and walk over to her bed, wrapping my arms around her.
She grips onto me and i feel a lump in my throat. I'm gonna miss her too. Ozzy joins the hug, putting all his weight on to us causing the hug to topple over.
We giggle as we lay in a heap on Em's bed.
♡♡♡
I watch as Lane picks up my suitcase and puts it in the coach carrier beside his before closing the door.
"I told you i could've done it." I say, turning to walk back to the rest of our class, along with the other class.
"Stop whining Carter." He sighs, placing his hands on my shoulders and pushing me along from behind.
I roll my eyes. We join the line for the coach and Lane begins talk to some kid i recognise. I'm pretty sure he sits a row in front of us.
Mia walks by with her pink suitcase and makes sure to mean mug me as obviously as she possibly can. I smirk and blow her a kiss, which clearly makes her even more aggravated.
"Okay class," Mr Jones says from the front of the line, standing on a step of the coach. "I've made a seating chart, just for the coach."
We all groan and sir chuckles to himself. He goes down the list he has in his hand, seating us from front to back. I'm actually not too bothered since it's only about thirty minutes from here to London airport.

"Seat 9a, Jules Carter. 9b, Charles Sullivan."
My eyes widen. Chuck? Why the fuck is he getting on our coach, he's in the other class!
I look back at Lane. His frown is so deep his brows are practically touching his eyelids. He opens his mouth as if he's about to protest, but i place a hand on his bicep.
He catches my eye and his face softens. I wince before turning around to head toward the coach.
I feel a hand grip my wrist, stopping me in my tracks. As i turn back around, Lane snakes his hand around the back of my neck, pulling me in and planting a delicate kiss on my forehead.
My cheeks immediately flush as i smile back up at him. And then my smile falls as i realise the entire class is staring at us. Fuck me.
"Jules, come on now." Mr Jones, making Lane drop my hand. I walk up to the front of the line, ignoring all the prying eyes on the way.
The first eight rows of seats are full, people laughing and joking around with one another. And then i reach my seat.
Chuck draws his attention from looking outside as i clear my throat.
"Sorry." He stands up so i can get to my window seat.
I've done a pretty amazing job with completely ignoring him since... the incident. Just my luck.
Lane walks by us as i clip my seatbelt in and eyes Chuck, his face completely emotionless. In return, Chuck bows his head.
"Text me." My friend says before continuing on back to his seat.
"Okay class, everyone make sure you're all strapped up and comfortable." Mr Jones is the final one to step on the bus bwfore the doors close. He claps his hands together and gives us a thumbs up before taking a seat at the front beside the other teachers.
The coach starts up, and we're off.
♡♡♡
We're about twenty minutes into the journey and it's actually been pretty good. I've been playing imessage games with Lane the whole time, who's sat back in row twelve. Chuck has been reading a book and hasn't tried to speak to me.
"Jules."
Okay, i totally jinxed that one. I turn to look at him and he closes his book.
"I'm sorry." He says, a pained look on his face. Is this dude serious right now?
"Why are you even here Chuck?" I ask, turning back to my game.
"My classes coach has less seats than this one, there was no room." He explains.
"That was a sign for them to leave you at school." I mumble under my breath.
"I know what i did was so fucked up Jules, but i- you're so out of my league and i-" Chuck whispers in a rushed manner as if he's gonna get cut off at any moment. He's right.
"Oh, so your next option was to turn to assault?" I nod, scrunching up my nose.
"No, god, no. I thought it would just make you more relaxed. I wanted you to enjoy your time with me. I mean- as soon as i saw you in the kitchen i realised how fucked up it was and... i'm so sorry." Chuck finally finishes.
"Cool." I reply.
He sighs, but goes back to reading. What did he expect, a medal?
"Okay guys, were about to pull into the airport!" Mr Jones stands up, clapping his hands together once.
Everyone begins to cheer and i smile to myself. This trip is gonna be so fun.
"You can choose who you're seated with for the flight, it will only be roughly an hour and forty minutes long." Sir continues to explain.
The coach pulls into a car park and halts, the engine dying down.
People begin to un clip their seat belts and stand up, stretching, moving about. I un clip my own belt, but don't move due to the fact Chuck is still sat beside me.
"Woah, everyone! We will be leaving one row at a time, starting from the front." Mr Jones calls, making everyone groan.
I glance over at Chuck, who is already looking at me. What a creep. He opens his mouth as if he's about to speak, but he's abruptly interrupted as a hand smacks him on the back of his head, causing him to jerk forward.
I press my lips together to stop myself from laughing as he grips his neck. Lane leans down, resting on the back of his seat.
"Move." He says, looking down on Chuck.
Chuck hesitates, before dropping his head and standing up, moving back to Lane's seat.
Lane throws himself down into the seat beside me and smirks. "Long time no see Julia." He teases and i roll my eyes.
"It's been twenty-five minutes." I huff, turning to look out the window.
"Don't act like you didn't miss me." Lane chuckles, hitting my thigh gently with his fist.
I tense up at his touch, but try not to make it obvious. Why does he keep doing this to me?
"Wanna be seat buddies on the flight?" He asks, ignoring my discomfort.
"I just can't get away from you can i?" I mumble and he laughs again. I love hearing him laugh, it's comforting.
"Row nine! Come on." Jones calls for us to head off the bus and i stand up.
Lane stands up, putting out a hand in a gentlemanly manner. I can't help but smile as i take his hand, pulling myself up.
He gestures for me to walk before him and as i do, he wraps his arms around my shoulders and leans down, hugging me from the back as we walk down the aisle.
I giggle, holding his forearms and trying not to trip over myself. This man can be so cute when he wants to be.
♡♡♡

They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
