《Chasing Prom Queen》Chapter 15

Kyla's POV

Fireworks blast off in my body as we embrace. It has been way too long since I last kissed Holly and I don't care who sees us. This is the moment I've been waiting for, for the past couple of weeks and it was well worth the wait. The phantom hollowness disappears as my other half re-joins.

The intensity was just turning up a notch when suddenly Holly is yanked out of my arms.

Huh, my lust filled brain take a second to turn off the horny to take in the scene in front of me. Anger takes a nanosecond to flare up in me.

"What do you think you're doing you stupid dike. Get off my girlfriend." Derek spits in Holly 's face. His hand holding her arm way too tight.

I react instantly. "Get your hands off her now, Derek." I say through gritted teeth. Reaching out to pull his hand away from her arm. When he pushes her arm away I give it a quick check. Yep, red, just like my vision. I move Holly behind me so I can turn my full fury on Derek. "Don't you ever touch her again."

"What you playing at? You're my girl."

I laugh and groan at the same time. "How many times do I need to say it to get it through your thick skull? I am not now nor have I ever been your girl." I enunciate every word loud and clearly, so that, the small gathering around us will have been able to understand me clearly. Manners be damned, I've had enough of playing nice.

"Can't believe you're cheating on me with a girl." The moron says, once again ignoring my words.

"Gahh." I take a breath to steady my anger that just wants to pummel the information into his Neanderthal brain. While I clench and un-clench my fists I notice Mason break through the crowd and walk up to Holly. He quietly asks if she's alright before moving to stand closer to my shoulder. Strange I didn't know those two knew each other. Looks like that rumoured dance earlier might have a bit more meaning behind it. But that can wait for later.

"Look Derek, I'm going to say this once then I want you to leave us alone. Me and you were never dating. Just because our Moms tried to set us up does not mean we are automatically together. I've been dating Holly for over a year and a half now and the only reason I agreed to go to prom with you was because I was in a raw place and you ambushed me in public. I didn't want to embarrass you in front of everyone but I've told you repeatedly I only wanted to go as friends. I'm sorry that you want more than I can give you but I won't apologise for loving someone else."

I've said everything I can to get the point across. After a moment of seeing his face twisting as he processed my words I start to turn to Holly so we can walk away. I only make it half-way when I feel a hand slam down on my shoulder.

"Don't turn away from me, you stupid bitch."

As quick as his hand touches me it is forcible removed. Turning back, I see Mason holding Derek's hand effortlessly behind his back. A scary smile stretches across Mason's face. "You really shouldn't have done that. A gentleman never touches a lady without consent and then it is only in the utmost gentlest of ways. I think me and you need to go and have a little word about how you treat others." Mason warns in Derek's ear. "Are you ladies going to be okay now?"

Holly moves forward, slipping her fingers into my hand and leaning on my arm. "Yes. Thank you, Mason."

He nods with a quick smile before dragging Derek away. Once they've disappeared behind the crowd others surge forward. Holly's friends Tanya and Laurie come up to us with massive mischievous smiles.

"Kyla Watson. You've secretly been dating Kyla Watson this whole time. You sneaky bitch." Tanya laughs, giving Holly a mock punch to the arm. She shrugs, giving me the adoring cheeky smile that never fails to make my knees weak. I smile lovingly back at her, giving her hand a squeeze. Never wanting to let go of her again.

"God you two are sickly in love. We'll leave you two to catch up." Laurie says pulling Tanya away. "Oh and Kyla. You better look after our girl." She calls over her shoulder.

Holly rolls her eyes at her friends. "Bye guys." She waves in their direction before putting her arms back around my neck.

"So, what's going on with you and Mason?" I ask playfully.

She laughs out loud. "He's a friend. Trust me, neither of us want anything more than that." She continues to giggle.

I take in her words, processing the emphasis on the neither. Then it hits me. "Oh, he's?"

She nods. The mirth still evident in her eyes. I giggle with her as we start moving to the music again.

I don't release her for the rest of the night. Every so often other students would come over and pat us on the back. Congratulating us, but they were all a blur. The only thing I did notice was that none of them were the people I called friends at the start of the night but, I was over being around them when I chose to win Holly back. To me I was in a bubble with Holly, no-one else existed. We heard our own music and danced to that beat.

"I love you Holly Daniels." I murmur in her ear.

"I love you too, Kyla Watson."
