He held me in his arms and even if it's just for a few minutes, I feel whole again.

I laid my head on his chest as he held me close. I felt his lips on my head, and he kissed it. "Jesus, Joey I miss you." He said, and I looked up at him.

"You have no idea how good this feels to me. This is exactly what I need right now." I said.

He leaned down and pressed his cheek against mine. "Where would we be if we could have been together all this time?" He asked.

"Right here, except I'd be going home with you tonight instead of waiting for that call." I laid my head back down on his chest and just took in the moment.

I felt him hold me tighter. "Can we just stay like this all night?" He asked.

I just nodded yes.

I have to keep in mind he has a family in D.C. He may be divorced, but he has a chance to raise his son full time.

"I would give anything to have been there for you." He said.

The song ended, and we were surrounded by drunk line dancers, so we had to walk away. Chloe grabbed my arm and forced me back out to the dance floor, so he didn't finish what he was saying.

These heels were not made for Cotton Eye Joe.

Some guy grabbed me and started dancing against me, but Chloe pulled him off. "You could have just said she was yours." He yelled at her.

"She's not, she's just too good for a drunk creep like you!"

God love her.

She finally said it was time for another beer, so we went back to our table of friends.

"Keeping the creeps off Joey is exhausting." She said.

"What creeps?" Hudson asked.

"Just some drunk loser." She said.

He looked at me. "I'm fine." I assured him.

I noticed Hudson switched over to water, so I'm taking that as a sign he's ready to go.

"Ready to go?" I asked him, and he nodded.

"I'll see you guys later, stay out of trouble." He said.

"It's not us you should be worried about." Julie threw in one last punch.

"Just ignore her," Hudson said, and I just nodded. It doesn't mean it still doesn't hurt.

He helped me up into the truck, and we were soon on our way. He got a call, but he must not want to take it in front of me.

"You should answer it, I need to know." I said, so he pulled over and hopped out of the truck. Suddenly, it started to rain, and my mood changed quickly. I want Jackson dead, but I'm just not sure how to feel.

He hung up and jumped back in. "Where the hell did that weather pop up from?"

"Was it about Jackson?"

"Yeah, but I'll have to call Dad back." He said.

"You can make the call, I'll be alright." He started driving again, and flashes of lightning lit up in his eyes.

"I'm not sure what I will hear, so it's best I take the call alone." He said.

"I need to know," I said.

"You don't need every detail." He said.

"Maybe I need every detail," I said.

"Let's just get you home first, this weather is getting worse. I hope the kids made it home." He tried to distract me.
