They were tossing the ball when we came home.

"Your dad has you started on football already?" I asked.

Mason chuckled. "This isn't the right ball for football, but I'll get used to the term. He said the team here is always in need of players."

"I thought you wanted to be in D.C. with your dad?" I asked.

"I do, but not yet. I don't think I'm quite ready to leave the nest. Dad said there are good colleges in D.C."

I hugged him. "I'm not ready for you to leave the nest either."

"He gave me something else." Mason reached into his pocket and handed me keys.

"That's a father-son symbol." He pointed out.

"And the key?" I asked.

He gave me a shit-eating grin. "His old car."

My eyes grew huge, and I looked at Hudson. "You still have that thing? I thought you crashed it."

"It's been repaired, " Hudson assured me.

"I loved that car," I said, then winked at him.

"I'm feeling a tad suspicious and grossed out right now," Mason said, and we both busted out laughing.

"Yeah, I'm going inside to get cleaned up for dinner." He said.

"How was Amber?" Hudson asked, as we walked toward the house.

"Good, and Abigail is as cute as ever. Serenity and Riley are getting closer, maybe she will also want to stay in Texas." I said.

"Yeah, I'm not sure she should stay for a boy," Hudson said.

"She would also go back to London for a boy." I smiled, knowing he isn't quite comfortable making those judgments yet.

"I see, maybe the old man should have eyes and ears planted everywhere." He smirked.

I smiled up at him. "Maybe, can the old man please stay for dinner?"

"Sure"

We entered the house, and the kids were already at the dinner table. "Are we in a hurry?" I asked.

"Riley is picking us up to go hang out at the diner." Serenity said, as Hudson and I took a seat.

"I'm glad the two of you are getting out tonight, it's best to occupy yourselves." I said.

The maid brings dinner in, and our kids are actually getting along for once and we had a pleasant meal. That'll change by tomorrow, but it's nice for tonight.

Serenity took off upstairs to get ready and Mason soon followed. I offered Hudson a drink.

"What do you say if Mom and Dad had some fun of our own tonight? There's no sense in waiting around here for word, when our friends will all be at the lounge?" I asked.

"Sure, I'll head home to change. What time do you want to go?" He asked.

"Amber said they'll be there around eight."

"Okay, I better be going then. I'll swing by around 7:30, if that's okay?"

"Please do."

He walked out the door, and I ran upstairs.

"Your dad and I will be at the lounge if you need us," I said to both kids, then went to get ready. I decided to wear my hair up and dress up a little. It will feel good to wear something nice.

"Mom! That dress is adorable! When are you going to let me borrow it?" Serenity asked?

"When you're old enough to buy beer." I laughed, but she didn't appreciate my humor.

I walked downstairs, just as Hudson and Riley walked inside. "Wow, Mrs. Beaumont, that dress is amazing."

"Eyes to yourself, kid." Hudson stared the poor kid down.

"Are you ready?" I asked, but Hudson just stared.

"Hudson?"

"Yeah, sorry the kid is right. That dress is something else."

It's sleeveless and short so, hopefully, I can get up into the truck.

"Thanks, are you ready?"

"Yeah, but could I say goodnight to the kids?"

"Sure, you can go on up."

I waited with Riley for a few minutes, then all three came downstairs laughing.

"The old man just told Mason to lock his windows to keep out the crazy chicks. Why would that be, Mom?"

I had to laugh.

"Mason would be lucky to have the head cheerleader panty raid his room," I said, and Riley gave me a crazy look.

"As long as the head cheerleaders name isn't Ben," Hudson said, and he lost all the kids right there.

"It's okay, Riley. Just ask your mom about a dare she once gave me. She and Julie had me do the craziest things." I smiled at the memories.

"That's enough hanging out with the old people. Let's go find some fun." Serenity pulled Riley outside.

I grabbed my clutch, and we all went out.

"Be home by midnight," I called out, while Serenity flipped me off.

"That child is going to drive me insane," I said, when Hudson opened the door.

"It's not just you. Joel's kid is completely lost in that girl, I hope she's smart." He said, as I tried to pull myself up into his dads truck.

"She's smarter than her Mom," I said as I struggled.

Suddenly he lifted me up into the truck. "Her mom was always smart, she chose me." He smirked.

"Her mom also managed to get knocked up in high school." I reminded him.

"Thanks for the reminder. I'd hate to be a grandfather the same year I found out I'm the dad of a teen girl."

He shut the door, then walked over to his side and got in the truck.

"I guess you haven't heard from your dad?" I asked.

"Not yet, I've not heard from Rob either. It may be tomorrow by the time we know anything." He said.
