《The Stranger on the Train》Chapter 74: Valentine's Day

Pov y/n
It's February 14th, Valentine's Day.
Every store has at least one big heart in their window and during the last few days, everywhere I looked I saw hearts. When I took a walk through the park today, I saw a lot and I really mean a lot of couples. They sat on a bench, cuddling a bit or kissing, or went for a walk while holding hands. I even watched someone propose.
So, to sum it up, whole New York seems to be struck by amor's love arrow. I don't have anything against love, I actually love it but it does sting a little in my heart that everyone seems to be with their sweetheart while mine is across country.
Brooke was cute and brought little chocolate hearts with her to work today. She handed them out to us and it made me really happy. And so did the message I received from Scarlett today, wishing me a 'happy Valentine's Day'. I wished her one as well and for a few minutes we texted but then she had to go to shoot a scene.
It's better than nothing but it is still hard. I miss her like crazy and we still weren't able to call. She sent me a voice message last night, telling me a little about her day and I won't lie, I listened to it on repeat, just to hear her voice. Call me cheesy or a simp but it made me happy to hear her voice.
I also went to her house yesterday to start working on the treehouse.
It was weird to be there all by myself because usually either Scar or Rose were with me but yesterday I was all alone.
I started by sorting the different woods and marking them on where they will go. It already took me a while and I didn't do much more, also because it was really cold and I felt like my face was freezing off.
I sigh a little and watch people walking by down in the street. All of them wear thick jackets, scarfs, gloves and hats because the temperature dropped a lot since yesterday.
The blue of the sky isn't visible anymore because huge clouds hide it. It wouldn't surprise me if it would snow in the next few days. It would definitely not melt because the ground is pretty much frozen by now.
I had to learn that the hard way, slipping on my way to work and falling onto my butt. I tried to keep myself from falling down but just ended up hitting my elbow as well.
Usually, I really like the winter season. It's cozy because you can snuggle into a hoodie and under a blanket. You can have hot chocolate and watch movies all night without anyone having anything against it.
And the best part: you get to cuddle a lot with your partner.
But therefore they have to be with you, which mine isn't.
I didn't think it'd be this hard to be away from her but it is. It sounds very dramatic, I know and I also know it'll get a little easier after some time but right now, it's hard.
With another sigh, I turn away from the window and unwrap myself from the blanket I was wearing around my shoulders, letting it drop onto the sofa. My apartment is only dimly lit because otherwise the light reflects too much in the windows and I can't look outside as good.
I clean my kitchen a little more before going to the bathroom and doing my nighttime routine.

It's 9:30 pm right now and I know I won't go to sleep now but I like to snuggle into bed and read a little or be on my phone. That reminds me, I have to answer my sibling's messages. They sent me pictures of the frozen lake that apparently is even more frozen than it was at Christmas. Now it's officially allowed to go ice skating on it, even in the middle where the ice usually is thinner.
I lay into bed after propping my pillow up, so I can comfortably lean against it.
I smile at the pictures they sent and look through my gallery until I find some that I can send them, one being from the trip to the zoo two days ago.
We text for a little while before they say goodnight and go offline. I put my phone down and grab the book I am currently reading.
After a few minutes of reading, my phone suddenly rings and I am a little startled as I was so concentrated on reading. I quickly put the book aside and grab my phone.
A huge smile spreads on my face when I see it's a video call from Scarlett and my heart beats a little faster.
I take the call and only seconds later, Scarlett appears on my screen. I automatically get butterflies in my stomach.
"Hey, angel." She greets and just hearing her voice makes me so happy.
"Hey, bug. How are you?" I ask and gaze at my phone, not able to take my eyes off her.
"I am a bit exhausted from work but good. What about you?" She asks and the video gets a bit shaky before it gets lighter, adjusting to the outside since she just got out of the car.
"I'm good, a little tired since it's a bit later here though." I answer and she nods.
"Right, I forgot about that. You're three hours ahead, right?" She makes sure and I hum and nod.
For a few more seconds, the video is a bit blurry and it gets a bit darker as she enters her house but then she settles down on the sofa and smiles widely at me again.
"Yes, we are." I confirm and she nods.
"Then it's already 10:15 pm for you." She concludes.
"Yep." I say, popping the 'p'.
"Sorry to call you this late." She apologizes but I shake my head and shuffle a bit to find a more comfortable position.
"No, don't apologize, I couldn't be happier about your call." I quickly assure her and she smiles happily.
"I thought I'd surprise you with a call, since it's Valentine's Day." She smiles and leans back a little.
"You definitely surprised me." I grin and she chuckles a bit.
God, I really missed this sound.
Now that she's inside, the internet is better and I can see her without any pixels. She's as beautiful as ever and her skin looks so soft that I whish I could brush my thumb over it while cupping her face.
"You're staring, my love." She smiles softly and I blush a little.
"I'm just so happy to see you." I admit and her smile widens.
"So am I. And I'm sorry I was so busy up to now. But the schedule should be clear now and most of the time I should be able to call in the evening. Maybe not every night or some nights just later because I am sure, Rose also wants to talk to me." She tells me and my body fills with excitement of the thought of talking to her more often. I nod.

"Of course. She misses you, you know?" I say and Scarlett's eyes soften and she sighs.
"I miss her too." She says and smiles a little sadly. "How is she doing?"
"She's doing good, she told me it's not so bad at her dad's, so I assume he is at least trying to make her feel at home." I tell Scar what Rose told me on Sunday. Scar hums.
"That's good. How was the trip to the zoo?"
I smile at the memory. "It was a lot of fun. We got to see every animal they have there and even pet a goat." I tell her and she just smiles and listens.
"Oh yes, I saw the pictures you sent me. The hat Rose wore is adorable, where did she get it?" She asks.
"I bought it for her at the souvenir shop because she didn't have one with her and it was cold." I explain and Scar furrows her brows a little.
Just by her expression I can tell what she thinks and answer her unspoken question.
"Her dad forgot to put one in her bag, so I bought one because it was cold. But at least I remembered mine and it worked as a short term solution until I bought the new one."
Scarlett nods before shaking her head a little.
"Thank you for buying her a new one, I wouldn't want her to get sick." She says and I can hear the slight worry in her voice.
"Of course, no problem. She really loves that hat and it looked adorable." I add and her expression relaxes a little more.
"How's LA?" I change the topic and the worry washes off her face and is replaced by joy.
"It's great! Everyone is super nice and fun to be around. Shooting goes great so far and we are even a little bit before schedule. It's not too cold here, so I'm not freezing off my ass." She laughs a little and I smile at that sound that makes my heart instantly happy.
"That sounds really good, baby, I am happy for you. Are you hanging out with Lizzie a lot?" I ask, since she sent me that selfie a few days back. She purses her lips a little before they pull into a tiny smirk.
"Well, I'm not sure if I can tell you that." She says and I scoff a little.
"If not your girlfriend, who else?" I ask, puffing my chest a little, making her laugh even more. God, I missed this.
"You're right and to answer your question: yes, we did hang out a few times." She answers and I smile as she seems to recollect a memory of that.
"That's great, baby." I say and she smiles at me in thanks.
"How are things at your job?" She asks and gets up to walk through the house until she reaches the kitchen and starts making herself a cup of tea.
"They are pretty good. We are all getting along great and the lunch break is always fun. I'm currently working on a project with Brandon, which is different than working with Brooke and therefore interesting." I share while she makes her tea and nods to show me she is still listening.
"We started diving and swimming lessons to prepare us and keep us fit for potential later projects."
"Sounds very interesting and like a lot of fun. Where are you diving?" She asks but can't hide the tiny bit of concern after I got sick last time.
"In an indoor pool. Don't worry, I don't plan on getting sick again." I assure her with a little chuckle and she points her spoon at me.
"You better not, or I have to fly over to take care of you."
My heart immediately warms up and I smile cheekily.
"Aww, you would fly over to take care of me?" I ask and watch as she stirs her tea and nods.
"Of course. Last time you seemed pretty knocked out. Besides, I want to make sure you have everything you need and won't pretend to be healthy to go to work." She says, taking me with her back to the sofa.
"In my defense, it were only a few last sniffles. I could have gone to work that day." I point out and she shakes her head, clearly amused.
"Sure, you could have but it was better for your health to stay home and cure those sniffles."
I roll my eyes playfully at her and she grins, taking a sip of her tea.
"I miss you." I say and her eyes soften.
"I miss you too, babe." She replies and sighs a little. "Only a few more weeks and we can see each other in person again."
I whine a little at her words and let my head drop back into the pillow.
"That always sounds so long." I whine and look back at my phone. It is true though, we vaguely have planned that Rose and I will visit her during spring break.
"It is a while but we can make it work. I believe in us." She says and I see the love in her eyes, even through the phone.
"I believe in us too." I reply back and her eyes light up a little.
I take the phone and turn around, getting comfortable again. She waits until I'm comfy again but narrows her eyes a little and leans closer.
"Why do you have a bruise on your elbow?" She asks, concern in her voice. I look at my elbow and see my sleeve slid down my arm, revealing my elbow. I wave it off.
"I just slipped on the frozen ground." I tell her and she frowns a little, concern still written on her face.
"Is it bad? Does it hurt when you move your arm? Did you get hurt anywhere else?" She bombards me with questions, putting her cup down and taking the phone in her hand again.
"No, it's okay. It doesn't and yes I did." I answer all of her questions. Her frown only gets stronger and she looks like she searches my body for any signs of being hurt.
"You won't find it, it's my butt." I chuckle a bit and she visibly breathes out.
"Is it hurt badly?" She asks. I shrug.
"I don't know. I didn't really take a closer look but it did sting a bit when I sat down the hour after I slipped but now I'm all good." I assure her. She nods slowly, nibbling a little on her lip.
"I wish I was there to take care of you." She sighs and I can see the longing in her eyes to be physically with me.
"There isn't much you could do." I try to calm her down but she pouts a tiny bit.
"I could kiss it better." She insist and it's cute how she crosses one arm.
"Sure, you would kiss my butt." I grin and her pout forms into a little smirk.
"Of course, you have a great butt. And for healing reasons it'd be better if you didn't wear pants. You know, because of the pressure they put on your butt." She smirks and I roll my eyes a little.
"You would only want to see me half naked." I tease her and she shrugs nonchalantly.
"Why only half? Your underwear also puts pressure on your sensitive spots." She points out with a grin. I feel my cheeks flushing a little at her smug tone.
"Miss Johansson, are you saying you would want to see me naked?" I tease with a bigger grin and she laughs at my pretended offense tone.
"I would never say no to that. Except when there are other people around." She grins cheekily and I shake my head.
"Then it would bother you, mh?" I ask and she nods.
"Yes, they don't get to see what's mine." She simply states and for some reason that gives me butterflies.
"Are you saying you own my butt?" I laugh and she grunts and joins in.
"No, it's still your body and you are free to do with it whatever you want. But I do would get jealous if other people got to see your pretty private areas." She smirks and I gulp a little at her words, feeling a bit of heat traveling to exactly that spot.
I yawn, feeling the exhaustion of the day slowly overcoming me.
"You should get some rest." Scarlett softly says, the smirk replaced by a loving and caring expression.
"I know but I don't wanna end our call, it's been too long." I protest lightly and she smiles softly.
"One and a half weeks but yes, it feels longer. But don't worry, the next call won't be this far away, I promise. So, you can go to sleep now." She assures me but I shake my head. Even though I feel sleepy, I don't want to end the call.
"I missed your face and voice too much." I insists and she chuckles a bit.
"Okay, how about, you close your beautiful eyes and put your phone aside and I will read something to you?" She offers. I think about it before slowly nodding, seems like the best compromise right now.
"Okay, but then I will already say goodnight in case I fall asleep. Sweet dreams and sleep well, I love you, bug." I say and her eyes soften even more.
"Goodnight and sweet dreams to you as well. I love you to the moon and back, angel." She replies and my heart fills with love and warmth.
I turn off my light, put her on the nightstand and cuddle into bed, closing my eyes.
Seconds later her calming voice fills my room and it doesn't take long until I drift off to sleep. Maybe Valentine's Day wasn't so bad after all.
A/n: This makes me feel single. :(
I need a girlfriend to be this cute with.
Thanks for reading and love to you all

Fire on Fire
"This is so wrong ..." Emma breathed out against his lips when he pinned her up against the wall."Is it?" Alexander echoed, slipping his hands underneath her large sweater, grazing her lips."She's my friend ..." Emma argued weakly, albeit unwilling to push him off."Don't think about it." He merely replied, starting to nibble on her neck.As his lips nipped down on her sensitive skin, Emma let out a breathless moan and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, so that he could hook her legs around his torso, effectively seizing her in his arms. The walk to his bedroom was short, and before she could say anything, she found herself on his bed, him hovering over her. His every touch was inebriating, the way his lips knew exactly where to go in order for her to lose sight of her moral duties, the way his hands skillfully caressed every inch of her skin, as if savoring it in advance, was driving her insane. And when she met his fiery gaze, Emma knew she was doomed. She had no chance but to surrender to this devil that was tempting her, pushing her towards something that - she was well aware - would be difficult to give up on once set in motion.
