I try to concentrate back on my book, or at least I pretend to because in reality I listen to the blonde woman, reading the book to her daughter. Her voice is soft and in some way mesmerizing. The way she reads is beautiful and it seems like she really feels the story by the way she reads it.

The little girl moved to sit on her mothers lap and looks at the pictures while her mother voice acts the book. She's really good at that I have to say. My eyes move over the edge of my book and linger over her face.

Her features are soft and her green eyes move over the pages of the children's book. Her wonderful curved lips let out her softly spoken words.

The way they move, there's something about them that catches my sight. I shake my head a little, stopping my staring and looking back at the pages of my book.

I still notice how one of the girls hands goes to grip onto the book which makes her mother let go of it and she gently combs her fingers through her daughters hair. Their interaction is adorable and I can't help but smile at them.

When the woman finishes the book, the little girl flicks through the pages again to show her mother some of the pictures in the book and rambles a little about them. Her mother listens attentively and looks at her daughter lovingly.

She sets her daughter back into her own seat and offers to get out the girl's crayons. The girl nods excitedly and starts to draw as soon as she has pen and paper.

Her mother smiles at her daughter before going back to reading her book.

There are a few times where I feel like she's looking at me but I keep my eyes on the book, not wanting to seem nosy.

After a while the child speaks up again.

"Look, Mommy, I drew the dolphin from the book." She proudly says and shows the picture to her mother.

"That looks great, sweetie. Well done." She encourages her daughter.

"Can I show the woman? She knows so much about dolphins." The girl tries to whisper but I still catch it and lower my book a little to see her being leaned towards her mother.

"Well, you can ask her. But don't be rude when she says no, okay?" Her mother compromises and the girl nods. She shifts a little in her seat before looking at me. I put my book down to give her my undivided attention.

"Excuse me, lady. Can I show you my drawing?" She asks politely and my heart melts a little at how cute she is.

"I'd love to see your drawing." I answer and see her face lighting up. She takes the paper and turns it so I can look at it and it's not upside down.

"Wow, that looks really good." I say and she grins proudly.

"Can you tell which dolphin it is?" She asks and bounces in her seat in excitement. I smile and take a closer look.

"Yes, it's the one from the cover of your book, right?" I ask and she nods frantically and claps her hands, happy that I guess correctly.

She grabs the paper again to look at it before handing it to her mother and asking for another paper but a bigger one.

She adds a 'please' when her mom raises an eyebrow and the blond woman smiles and gets out a bigger paper.

After a few more minutes, the mother looks over to her daughter.

"I will go to the toilet real quick, Rosie. Do you need to go too?" She asks and watches her daughter draw who shakes her head.

"Okay, would you still come with me, I don't like the thought of you being alone here." She says in a soft voice.

Her daughter pouts and looks up at her mom, disturbed in her drawing process.

"I'm not alone." She reasons and points to me. I look from the girl to her mother. We hold eye contact for a few seconds.

"Would it be okay if you watched her? It's okay if not." She adds, not wanting to annoy me but I wave it off.

"Of course, I'll take care of her while you're gone, don't worry." I give her my best smile and see her relax a little before she turns to her daughter again.

"You behave while I'm gone, okay sweetie?"

The girl nods and the woman kisses her hair before standing up and giving me a last glance before seeking for the toilet.

"Do you want to draw with me? I'm drawing an underwater world." The girl asks me with hopeful eyes.

My heart warms up at her adorable question and I nod. She pads the seat next to hers to symbolize me that I should come over. I think about it for a second before getting up and sitting next to her.

"Can you draw turtles? I will draw the dolphins then." She asks and looks up at me with her shining blue eyes.

"Yes I can draw turtles, I can also draw other fishes if you want to." I offer with a smile. She thinks about it for a few seconds before she nods and hands me her box of crayons.

"Thank you." I say politely and as if she seems to remember something, she puts her crayon down.

"I forgot to introduce myself." She realizes and looks up at me.

"That's okay, you can still do it if you want." I assure her and she looks up at me happily.

"I'm Rose." She says and holds out her hand for me. I smile at the cute gesture and take her small hand to shake it.

"I'm y/n." I reply and we shake hands. She nods as a sign to have understood me and takes the crayon back into her hand.

I take the ones I need and start to draw the first turtle.

It's calm and I catch Rose looking over at my drawing. When I'm done I lean back and her head shoots to look at what I drew, her eyes grow big.

"That looks really good. Can you draw another one?" She requests and I chuckle at her excited tone.

"Of course, where do you want it?" I ask and she points to a free spot. I begin to draw another one while she continues her dolphin.

When I feel a pair of eyes on me, I look up and see the woman standing next to the table. She smiles down at me and Rose and a hint of adoration lays in her eyes. I put the crayon down and get up so the woman can sit down again. Rose's head shoots up to look why I'm moving away.

"You haven't finished the turtle." She pouts while I sit back in my original seat.

"I'm sure your mom can finish it." I try to comfort her and after a few seconds of thinking, she agrees and hands her mom the crayon.

I watch them draw for a while until the woman leans back to look at the turtle.

"It looks different than y/n's." Rose observes, not quite sure if she likes it.

"Y/n?" Her mom questions and Rose points to me before drawing another dolphin.

"That's a beautiful name." She smiles and I blush a little at the compliment.

"I'm Scarlett, by the way." She introduces herself and we shake hands. Hers are soft and warm and fit perfectly into mine, as if they were made to be together. No, stop it! God, what am I thinking?

"That's a really pretty name." I say and mean it. Scarlett smiles in thanks.

"So, where are you headed?" She asks, keeping our conversation going.

"I'm going to New York, look at the city and get a job, trying out the city life." I answer and lean back to get comfortable. Scarlett's eyes stay on me and she smiles.

"We're headed to New York as well, we live there. I hope you will enjoy it, it's a really great city." She says and from the tone of her voice I can tell she really means it.

"Thank you, so do I. I come from a smaller town so the big city will be something new." I share and wonder why I feel so comfortable around her.

She gives me the feeling of being able to tell her anything without being judged for it. I don't know, it's just a vibe.

"It can be a little overwhelming in the beginning but you'll get used to the many people and the high buildings." She encourages me and I smile at her, appreciating her words.

"Were you on vacation or why are you on your way back to New York?" I ask and get lost in her emerald eyes for a few seconds.

"Not quite, I had a project I worked on in LA." She explains, slight hesitation swinging in her voice.

I can't quite tell why but I hope I didn't touch a sensitive topic, so I drop that the best I can without it being too obvious.

"That's a long way with a child." I say and silently admire her for doing such a long train ride with a child.

"Yeah, but Rose doesn't like to take the plane." Scarlett explains and ruffles her daughters hair a little. Rose looks up, having listened to our conversation.

"Planes are scary." She says and looks at me. I nod understandingly.

"They are, I understand why you prefer the train." I say and she smiles at me.

"And from the plane you can't see pretty flowers." She points out and I chuckle.

"That's very true." I agree and Rose goes back to drawing.

"Do you know where you will stay when you're in New York?" Scarlett asks further and also leans back, seeming to enjoy our conversation. I shake my head.

"Not quite. The first few nights probably at a cheap hotel until I found a job and can rent a small apartment." I admit and she nods in thoughts.

"Well, good luck with the work and job search." She says genuinely and I thank her before Rose gets our attention back.

"Y/n, can you draw one of the fishes you talked about?" She asks and I smile at her.

"Of course, Rose." I answer and she beams at me, sliding the paper to me and giving me the crayons.

A little yawn escapes her mouth and Scarlett looks down on her daughter, gently combing through her hair.

"Are you getting a little tired, baby?" She asks and kisses Rose's temple.

Rose shakes her head but climbs onto her mothers lap, leaning her small body against her mom's.

Scarlett wraps her arms around her daughter to keep her secured and Rose cuddles further into her. Her eyes flutter close a few times as she watches me draw. When I'm done, she only seems half awake but still manages to speak.

"I like your fishes, please draw more." Her voice is soft and it's more a request than a demand. I can't say no to that and draw another fish.

The next time I look up, I see Rose fully asleep in her mother's arms and Scarlett kisses the top of her head before she grabs a blanket from Rose's previous seat and pulls it over her sleeping daughter.

I smile at the two and continue drawing the fishes while Scarlett looks out the window, lazily stroking her daughters arm up and down.

A/n: I was in the mood to update a new chapter for this story, so here you go.

Also, two questions:

1: Do you want a word count at the end or beginning of each chapter?

2: Do you like longer chapters?

Because I have some that are twice as long as this one and wanted to ask if you like that or if I should split it up?

Thanks for reading and love to you all
