《Crazier Then You (Twilight // Crazy Jane)》Chapter 23

Bella was actually out of Edwards ass for once and hanging out with the pack. Jane was pleasantly surprised but that didn't change the fact Jacob was still a stick in Bella's ass either. It was like a communal stick up ass's and that's what she said to the full room with both Bella and Jacob inside it.
The pack howling with laughter, Paul laughing the loudest as he kept a firm arm around the back of Janes chair. Both Jacob and Bella looked unimpressed and soon left the room to go for a walk. "So your not gonna invite us to your Cullens Grade party mashup.... Thingy." Jared stammered unsure what to call it a regular graduation party was out of the question for the murderous monsters in his and the packs eyes.
Jane let out a snort that was very unlady like as she rolled her eyes. "I'm not going to that snooze fest. Besides I don't want to become the fruit punch like Bella did at her birthday party." Jane said making all the boys laugh in Bella's expense having heard the story through Jake in the mind link. Paul however didn't laugh and now wore an upset glare at the thought of Jane being a human juice pouch for those deviants.
"We could always throw you a grad party Jane. Jared and Paul are graduating this year too. Not for a few more weeks but- it could be fun." Emily smiled as a Jane more so grimaced hating attention. "Actually grad night I might spend with just Charlie and Paul at my house. My uncles pretty upset Bella's gonna ditch him after we have a celebration dinner at the diner." Jane says with clear annoyance for her cousin. "Mmmm then maybe we could do it a different day. Just the council and pack, it could be just a regular bonfire." Emily explained and Jane went with it knowing Emily was relentless besides Paul told her the woman cooked a whole buffet when it came to these things.
Also that Jacob's dad Billy told the tribes past legends and some of them could be 'spooky'. He even made a joke of her needed him for protection but- she just gave him a look saying that more then likely wouldn't happen. "Well we better get going-" Paul interrupted excitedly standing up and looking at Jane like she was forgetting something.
They had made plans to try making out again after how well yesterday had gone. Of course if Jane changed her mind Paul would happily be okay with just some one on one hanging out. Jane tried to hide her blush as she stood but- Paul's thoughts had been projected through the pack late last night during his patrol with blabbermouths Quil and Seth. Everyone snickered quietly as they left and Paul smiled proudly before leading her to his truck. Jane giving the others dirty looks before leaving making them look a bit freighted by her and what they knew was hidden inside her.
"Your uncle home?" Paul asked as Jane nodded making him smirk. "Guess I can climb through your window then? Like the princes in fairytales." He said broadly making Jane look at him funny. "I'm not a princess needing to be saved all the time.... That's Bella. I'd be the evil stepsister that poisons the dress and steals the apples from the princess." Jane shrugged as Paul look befuddled by her VERY mixed up fairytales.
"That's not- how did you-" he looked shocked as Jane looked to not understand what he was going on about. "I'm just not a damsel in distress like snowella, cinderwhite or sleeping belle from the old stuff." Jane explained only making Paul look even more confused how messed up she has the stories little girls grow on. Then he thought of her past and his confusion became a hidden anger at a person he'd never meet. "I'm going to have to buy a book with those stories...... rain check I'll get the movies." He said as Jane gave him a look about reading in general. She seemed to accept the movies option.

"I'll park around the corner." Paul said 'dropping' Jane off for show. "Alright. I love you see you in a bit." Jane smiled happy before rushing inside seeing her uncle asleep on the couch. She sneaked up the stairs before going to her room and locking the door. After a few minutes Paul was at her window with furrowed brows. Before he could tell her anything about smelling a vampire around her house he seemed to freeze as she opened the window.
The window opening made some of the air from her room rush out and the scent of the new vampire hit Paul's nose like a ton of bricks. His eyes went black and his jaw clenched as his eyes looked around the bedroom with distrust. "What's wrong?" Jane asked as some of the protective personalities watched weary and ready to hurt the man if he was about to hurt Jane with his sudden anger.
"I smell something..." he mumbled climbing inside the room taking big whiffs. "Sorry I forgot Charlie actually tried to make me lunch and- my backpack smells like moldy bologna." Jane said cringing with embarrassment as Paul slowly shook his head. "A vampire.... Was in here not a Cullen or the red headed leech." He said a bit angry grabbing his phone and calling Sam.
Jane went tense realizing a vampire that was a stranger had been in her house with Charlie. It could have killed him. Her eyes began shifting around the room landing on her desk chair where her new black rain coat usually hung was missing. Her eye brows furrowed and she looked around again realizing her beanie was gone too. She glanced to Paul seeing him shaking while saying something to Sam on the phone.... She didn't even want to tell him.
"Paul." She said it firmly yet- he could somehow sense the fear in her voice. "Don't worry I will shift and the pack will follow the scent from here" Paul tried to reassure but Jane shook her head as many voices screamed what she should do in her hand. "Uh- the vampire..... it took some of my clothes." Jane admitted making Paul tense but look confused. "..... Bella's back with her leech."
He went storming to the door swinging it open to see Edward rushing upstairs to only stop at the sight of Paul and Jane. "You smell it too." Edward confirmed searching the wolves thoughts. "Not a friend of yours?" Paul snapped making Jane hopeful that maybe one of Edwards little leech friends had come by- and randomly stole her clothes..... it didn't add up.
"No. I'm afraid not...... don't worry we'll handle this. Edward said with too much authority for either Paul or Jane. "Hold the phone chump. This thing was in my room...... your not gonna push this under the rug like nothing happened." Jane huffed as Bella looked annoyed. "He meant his family and him will catch the vampire. And that- Paul. Didn't need to go telling the wolves getting them worked up over protecting me again." Bella said a bit too smugly as Edward had walked into her room smelling the scent all over.
"First of all leech lover don't talk to her like that. Secondly..... the pack will 'worry' for Janes sake not yours, she'd important to our group not you." Paul snapped annoyed with the Swan girl for once and for all.
"Settle down Paul. I'm upset too but- this is a common enemy-" Edward began to say pushy again this time inciting someone else from the underground.

"Now listen here you bunch of pansy pushing pussys this is serious. This wasn't some random leech sucker because they would have killed Charlie and not taken things with scents on them.... That thing is trying to kill Jane and maybe boring bland Bella. But- if you two 'manly men' don't get over your toxic masculinity egos we won't stop it." Hammerhead snapped annoyed as Paul and Edward continued to stand toe to toe neither backing down.
"Typical." Hammerhead spat storming downstairs and raiding the fridge to grab one of Charlie's beers. Two people and a corpse following her as she did so, she could practically hear Bella scoffing as she began chugging the van with her head back. "Problem?" Hammerhead asked with some edge she'd been waiting to kick Bella's Swans ass for awhile.
"No Hammerhead there's no problem." Bella spoke with hatred as she said the personalities name. "You know what-" hammer head began to say taking a step towards Bella before Edward stepped in the way. She chuckled lowly looking him and down. "Maybe get your bitch on a leech duckweed if you don't want her getting her ass kicked..... or a muzzle." Hammerhead said smiling as she walked to Paul who wore a small smirk but still held anger in his eyes for the stranger in James room.
"This won't solve anything..... we will go." Edward said leading Bella outside to take her to his family only making Hammerhead roll her eyes her annoyance rising.
"And you." She said suddenly turning to Paul who looked confused why she sounded upset with him. "W-what did I do?" He asked looking a bit worried as Hammerhead mocked his voice and question. "Don't think I don't see what your doing with Jane." She explained and that made him relax a bit but still look confused. "I'm not doing anything Hammerhead- I love her." He said making her scoff and nod slowly not believing him.
"We've heard that before. With Miranda. But- that boy got what he wanted.... He'll he got some extra pussy with that stupid orgy party. All men are the same Paul. Your the same." She spat vindictively as he looked upset but away from her.
"I'm not. And I'm gonna prove it to you Hammerhead one day at a time." He assured but she mocked him again. "Your stupid imprint thing forcing your love? That's how you'll prove it? I mean I'm just curious Paul we're you born between dumbass town and Shit for Brains- ville? You wouldn't even like Jane hell you probably wouldn't even know her if it weren't for that stupid wolf bond of yours. You wouldn't give someone like Jane another glance. " Hanmerhead said getting herself riled up as she clenched her fists in anger Pail looking hurt but knew this wasn't Jane.... It just hurt to see her face saying it after meeting the real form of Hammerhead.
"I'm gonna leave." He said shaking a little bit as her words played over and over in his head. "D-don't go I'm sorry." Jane came forward making him stop walking and turn around happy the violent personality was now gone. "You don't have to be sorry Jane.... It literally wasn't you." He explained trying to smile but it came out a grimace.
"I know but- I hate this. I know it's been hard on you with this whole process of me and- they don't make it easy. I appreciate you a lot Paul, so...... please don't take what they say seriously." Jane said lowly upset with the others who bickered in the underground but she tuned them out.
Paul really had dealt with so much for her sake and she truly loved him for that. "Believe me Jane.... It's okay. And I'm gonna show them one day at a time that some good men do still exist. But I gotta go- there's a pack meeting they need the scent. I won't be far from the house but stay here. Don't go outside. I'll climb up after okay?" Paul asked making her nod a little scared to have him in her room alone late at night.
After he left Charlie finally woke up form his nap looking absolutely exhausted. "Hey kid, where's Bella?" He asked stretching and noticing another one of his beers empty knowing already it was Hammerhead. "Her and Lee- Edward went to his house with his family for something." Jane shrugged unimpressed as Charlie nodded looking a tad bit upset about it. "Oh uh- I just- I was thinking maybe we could go to the diner get some late dinner or something but-" he began trailing off feeling embarrassed as Jane slowly felt guilty before forcing a smile.
"Well I haven't eaten yet so...... would you want to go just the two of us?" Jane asked with a forced smile she liked Charlie she just still struggled with men who weren't Paul. Charlie looked up genuinely smiling and grabbing his wallet. "Yeah yeah let's go. We can just grab Bells something in case she doesn't eat there" He began saying excited as Jane smiled following him out shooting a text to Paul.
They drove in Charlie's squad car with an awkward silence until they got to the diner sitting at their usual booths. Bella had always been with them due to being grounded and forced out when she was depressed. So Jane looked stiff as she ordered her usual burger with fries.
"I uh haven't looked at your file yet." Charlie said making Jane go tense and look wide eyed at him forget the doctor gave him the files when they were leaving. "Why not?" She asked unsure as he shook his head. "Felt like an invasion of privacy...... Plus maybe...... I don't want to know anything bad or worse traumatic has happened to you. Eventually you may want to tell me and of course I'll listen and I'll help you however I can kid. I know I've been working a lot but- Jane I love you. Your my niece I- I see you as my own kid already, as crazy as it sounds." He said lowly at the end embarrassed maybe he was going to upset her or make her feel disgusted by the idea.
".......... I wish you were my- .....I don't. I can't really say that word anymore because of him but- I just- I don't- I don't like men in general. They are evil and conniving and they are selfish and they only do what pleases them and I just-" Jane stopped speaking abruptly as tears began pricking her eyes as she spoke with so much hostility aimed at the man she knew as Daddy. "In the file...... if you were to read it- you'd find out that my..... he did awful things. Not to me but to Kay........ Things a father shouldn't do to their daughters....... That's why we don't like to be touched......" Jane said the last part almost robotic face void of emotion besides the tears that hadn't stopped.
It seemed their table went dead silent at that exact moment, a pin would have been able to be heard falling. So of course Charlie's fork clattering to the plate as he stared at her with an emotion she never saw before on him. It was a mix of regret, guilt, remorse and pure anger.
"Jane I didn't- I don't know I would have...... I'm a cop I should have......." He trailed off his anger dwindling as his sadness grew. He thought she had missed out on life since the asylum but- she lost it the second her father did that to her and as a child.
Charlie Swan felt sick to his stomach as all the dots connected, sure they say sometimes the signs are hard to see but Jane was textbook. Maybe he didn't want to see it. "I'm sorry." He finally said as Jane bit her bottom lip nodding. "I am too. I've been living with you for almost a whole year and- I haven't spoken to you much. I've mostly let Baby doll take that bond for us because..... I'm scared. She sensed you were different from the start but I just- I see all these men in the world and sometimes I just- I hate them before I even know them." Jane said gripping her fork tighter and stabbing it a little too aggressively into her Peach cobbler for desert.
"Jane. I am never going to hurt you like that. What he did- that's wrong on so many levels and- I understand now. I won't push you for a relationship but know that I'm here and I'll always be here if you wanted that." He said making Jane smile sadly as new tears came to her eyes happier ones. She finally felt that parental love she was meant to have her entire life in that brief moment and felt her walls caving a bit.
"I want that uncle Charlie....... Just slowly. Thank you for not reading my file and letting me tell you myself." Jane said appreciative as he smiled gruffly trying to hide any tears he may or may not have been trying to hide. "I know this might be asking for a lot but- can I hug you?" He asked and Jane tensed thinking about it before nodding stiffly. "Just let me go first it helps." Jane instructed as the two stood and hugged the other. Jane hugging him tightly as he barely held on scared to trigger her or someone else.
They stood like that.
For a good 3 minutes of just hugging Jane struggling to contain her inner demons while..... enjoying feeling the comfort. "I love you kid." He mumbled into her hair as she smiled sadly. "I love you too Charlie." She mumbled back but he still heard it making him feel absolutely ecstatic to hear her say it.
Of course he could only wish it had been under different circumstances.

When Jane got home she could have sworn she saw a shadow move in her room. She could only hope Paul was there and not the leech from before. Both her and Charlie turning in for the night saying their good nights as Bella came in giving Jane daggers. It was almost like she could sense the fact Jane and Charlie were growing closer then she was with her own father.
Jane walked in her room and froze as Paul nearly gave her a heart attack as he stood salt her door with furrowed eyebrows. "You've been crying." He said matter of factly rubbing the old mascara from under her eyes. "I um..... I told Charlie about." She tried not to say it but didn't need to as he knew her well enough.
"How'd he take it?" He asked forgetting the fact he had been upset with her moments ago for leaving after he had specifically said not to. "He was sad. Like really sad. He said he loved me which- I knew that but. I said it back." Jane said sounding a mix of happy yet confused as she thought of her past.
"Isn't that a good thing you look upset?" He asked sitting beside her on the bed. "I've never...... I've never had so many people care about me. What if- what if I mess it up like I did with Jake?" She asked making him look at her shocked as if she were actually insane which she was. "Jane he doesn't hate you he's just too much of a chump to ask he's sorry." Paul said with a slight tremor for Jake making his imprint upset.
"He apologized to Bella. He never did with me and I don't know why I- I told him before I had ever told anyone else. I thought we were friends I thought- I thought he was different and that he'd at least apologize but he just- never did." Jane trailed off as Paul wrapped an arm around her slowly. She tensed and closed her eyes for a moment having to think it was Paul and no one else.
"Charlie isn't a pussy like Jacob." Paul stated matter of factly making Jane chuckle lowly to not get caught with him in her room. "He's not. I just I don't want to disappoint him. Isn't that funny me? Caring about someone's opinion." She smiled at it as if it were funny but it made Paul sad.
