Chapter two : Fate ~

I laid on my back hearing people outside talking loudly as usual. I growled hugging my pillow trying to block them out feeling a headache forming.

I hate wolf hearing sometimes.

I put the pillow over my head as I heard the door open, "Cookie Monster?" I heard and slightly smiled at my Dad's nickname for me.

I heard him walk to the bed and sit down making the bed sink "you missed breakfast" he said softly but I just sighed closing my eyes.

"Not hungry" I mumbled and he sighed moving the pillow off me, I laid on my back looking at him as he looked at me worriedly "are you ok?" He asked and I nodded.

"Yeah. I'm just tired" I mumbled quietly playing with a piece of thread on my blanket.

"You didn't come for dinner last night either. Xavier has been worried about you... We all are. What's the matter?" he said and I shrugged "I just feel like being alone" I said putting my head on his lap and he stroked my hair.

"Talk to me baby girl" He said softly as I closed my eyes. "I just have a feeling something bad is going to happen and it's stressing me out" I said shaking my head.

"Don't think about it. Everything will be fine" he said and I sat up looking at him, "my birthday is in two weeks" I mumbled and he nodded. "I know. You'll be eighteen" he said and I sighed looking down.

"Can I ask you something?" I mumbled and he nodded "anything" he said softly. "Were you happy when you met mom? Like when you found out she was your mate" I asked leaning against the headboard next to him and he sighed smiling softly.

"Of course I was. I was ecstatic" he smiled and I hugged my legs, "why do you ask?" He said and I shrugged "I don't think I want to meet my mate" I said making him frown.

"Why not?" He said and I looked at him "I don't want to leave you alone" I said and he snorted "who says I'm alone?" He asked and I just looked down. "Cookie Monster, Trust me. When you meet your mate you'll be so happy" he said moving my hair.

"I don't want to meet him" I whispered and he just kissed my head, "you say that now but watch. It could be today, or on your birthday or even when you turn 20" he said and I frowned.

"I thought when your 18 is when you officially find them?" I said and he shrugged "some people find them earlier since they've already shifted" he said shrugging and I sighed biting my lip.

"I'm just going to sleep today. I feel sick" I said and he nodded kissing my head. "Just call me if you need anything" he said standing up and I nodded "love you" he said.

"I love you too Daddy." I mumbled and he smiled walking out closing the door behind him.

I laid down hugging my pillow and put the blanket over my head closing my eyes going back to sleep sighing deeply.

I walked into the kitchen looking for something to eat, "have you found her dude?" I heard in the next room making me look up.

"No" Xavier sighed making me bite my lip, "you'll find her. She's probably hiding" His best friend Zac said.

"Do you think it's Jordyn? She's been hiding all day" Xavier said and I closed my eyes turning around and grabbing an apple.

I walked to the sink washing it when two girls walked in, a blonde girl whom was talking so fast and a girl with brown hair whom was just listening with a smile on her face.

She looked at me and smiled, I smiled back drying off my apple when the door opened. We looked up to see Xavier standing there sniffing the air , he looked past me at the girl and growled "mine" he said with his eyes darkening, the brown haired girl eyes widened.

The blonde stopped talking and looked at her "Emma?" She said and Xavier went to walk to her. "No" she said backing away making him freeze and I frowned.

No?

She turned around running away and Xavier stood there wide eyed. "Emma!" The blonde scoffed running after her, I bit my lip as Xavier just stood there with no emotion.

I slowly went to walk out the room but he grabbed my arm tightly making me jump. I slowly looked at him as he looked at me. "What?" I whispered.

"She ran from me" he said and I nodded "I saw" I said and he just stood there with a hurt expression.

"I-I- she'll come back" I said not knowing what to say, "you think so?" He said and I nodded.

"You were right" he said rubbing my wrist, "we're not mates" he said and I chuckled "I'm always right" I said and he smiled shaking his head.

"Congrats" I said and he looked in the direction where she ran, "Her name is Emma" he sighed and I nodded just standing there awkwardly.

"She's beautiful" he said and I bit my lip feeling my heart breaking... "she is" I said and he looked at me. "You know. You'll always be my first love" he said moving my hair behind my ear and I chuckled "I know" I said and he kissed my forehead.

"Nothing is going to change between us. We're still going to be friends" he said and I nodded. "I know" I whispered and he smiled.

"Go find her" I said and he looked at me, "I should give her some alone time" he said walking away with a sad look making me sigh.

Why would she run from him?

I wiped my tears away shaking my head and sighed putting on my red shirt, I put on my running sneakers and grabbed my sweater walking out my room.

I was actually hoping me and him would be mates....

Guess not.

I wonder who my mate is...

"She's alive" I heard my Dad say dramatically and chuckled "where you going?" He asked with a small frown "just for a run" I said shrugging and he grabbed me shaking his head "No. Don't" he whispered quickly making me frown.

"Why not?" I said and he pulled me in his room closing the door "I'm not supposed to tell anyone but there's been a sighting in the forest of the Shadow pack" he said and my eyes widened "what?! Why are we just standing here then?" I asked.

"They haven't attacked so we won't attack" he said and I scoffed "they caught us by surprise why can't we do the same?" I said crossing my arms and he shook his head.

"It's just not like that ok? There's been a change. They have a new alpha. The son who just turned 22 has the position now. He's even more dangerous than his father" he said and I shivered looking down.

"he's killed people? At only 22?" I said and he nodded, "he's killed a lot. Especially rouges and humans" he said "what has humans done to him?" I scoffed and he shook his head.

"He's a monster" he said and I nodded looking down, "okay... I understand. But I really need to run Dad. I'm so stressed" I said and he nodded "then let me come with you-"

"I want to run alone" I whispered and he just looked at me "I'll be fine" I said and he sighed "just... Be careful. And stay close" he said and I kissed his chin walking out the room.

I ran down the stairs sighing and walked out the house, I plugged in my headphones and ran in the forest...

I panted resting my hands on my knees and sighed standing up looking around the dark forest.

'We ran to far' my wolf Sarafina's voice echoed in my head.

We're fine.

'Your father said not to go to far. And now it's turning night' she said and I sighed taking off my headphones walking back.

'Wait... There's someone near' she whispered tensely and I frowned not feeling or hearing anything.

I don't hear anything

'Dont you feel the eyes on you?' She asked growling lowly and I didn't, I continued walking faster down the pathway but froze when I heard the most deepest and most terrifying growl.

I turned around slowly looking behind me but saw nothing, no wolf, no person.

Am I hearing things?

I let out a shaky breath and turned around bumping into something rock solid. I fell back on the ground grunting and looked up seeing a giant guy looking down at me.

'Shadow pack' Sarafina said sniffing at him, he walked closer to me growling loudly and I backed away in fear feeling the authority and power from him.

The Alpha.

Shit.

I'm dead.

I am so dead!

He grabbed my ankle holding me in place and I whimpered looking up at him in fear.

Oh god please don't kill me.

He stared down at me and bent to my level inhaling my scent, "Mine" he growled lowly looking in my eyes making me freeze.

What?

Did he just say 'Mine?!

He grabbed my arm pulling me up quickly making me bump into his chest and I yelped as his grip was to tight. He pulled me away walking deeper in the forest "no! Let me go!" I said trying to push him.

He growled loudly at me facing me and I whimpered lowering my head in submission hoping he won't kill me, "you're not going anywhere. Mate" he spat making me flinch.

Did he just say mate?

"I am not your mate" I spat back at him and I screamed as he slammed me against the tree holding my neck. I held his wrist tightly whimpering and he growled in my ear holding me.

"Don't you ever disrespect me" he said and I looked at him in fear, "Please. Let me go" I whispered.

"No. You're mine" he yelled and I whimpered cowering down. He slowly let go of my neck staring down at me and I panted looking up at him.

"Please" I whispered nervously and he growled walking closer, I whimpered backing away into the tree trunk. He put his face in my hair inhaling and I stood there shaking in fear.

He stood there holding my neck and I panted looking around not knowing what to do.

Was he gonna even let me go?

I'm not his mate.

I can't be mated with the enemy

"Go" he said and I looked up at him, "but I will come back for you" he said and I backed away nervously.

"GO! Before I change my mind" he roared and I whimpered running away as fast as I can.

I ran out the forest and stumbled almost tripping as I ran into the house.

"Jordyn" I heard and gasped backing away quickly. "Hey, it's me" Xavier said quickly grabbing my arm.

"Don't touch me" I said backing away hugging myself, "are you ok? What happened to you?" He asked and I gulped as everyone was looking at me.

"Jordyn" he said grabbing my arms and I looked to see the Alpha Derek walking in the room looking at me worriedly. I felt tears forming in my eyes thinking about the Alpha...

I can't be his mate...

"Jordyn, talk to me" Xavier said and I pushed his arms off me shaking my head.

I turned around going upstairs and ran into my room locking the door, I slid down to the ground hugging my legs and panted letting the tears roll down my cheeks.

Our worst enemy... He can't be my mate.
