[Chapter 5: Childhood PT 4]
When I woke up, the first thing I saw was white. Am I in heaven this time? Sitting up, I find myself in a white bed and in white clothing. I guess I'm in a hospital?
I'm not dead? I ask myself. I thought Itachi was supposed to kill me. The door in my room opens and a nurse enters. "Oh, Princess, you're up." I nod. "When they found you laying with your brother, you were caught in a genjutsu." Genjutsu?
"Um... Where's Sasuke?" I asked with a groggy voice.
"He's in another room. After we do a few check-ups, you may go to him if we don't find any physical effects."
After we did some test, the nurse deemed that it was okay to move and walk but I still had to stay here for a few days. After she said okay and said what room he was in, I sprinted out the door. Finding the correct room, I burst in to an already awake brother. "Sasuke."
His eyes widen at my direction. "Nee-chan...!" I ran to him and quickly give him a huge embrace, he tenses but hugs back. Not truck-kun huge but huge. "I-I... I thought you were!"
"Shushhhh..." I say as I pat his back. I feel something wet on my shoulder, probably tears. He pulls back harshly, though I'm sure he doesn't mean it.
"I... I'll kill him...! I'll avenge you, and mom, dad, everyone!!!" He swore. I frown, but pat him on the head, pulling him out of the trance.
"I'm sure you will." I say. "But, don't push yourself." He stares at me but slowly nods. I then furrow my brows together and point an accusing finger at him. "And don't you dare go distancing yourself from me ya hear me foolish little brother!" He winces and his face darkens a little.
Ah. I probably shouldn't use that nickname anymore. "Sorry, I shouldn't have called you that."
"It's fine." He assures me, but I definitely knew that it was not fine. "I'm going to kill him anyway." I frown at his words, is the curse of hatred really that powerful? Literally yesterday he was the brightest and innocent boy (besides Naruto) there was!
Was going to be like that someday?
I shake my head. It doesn't really matter now.
The first visitor I had was the Hyuuga twins. I, of course, launched myself at Hinata the second they came in. After my little hugging fest, They gave me dango (I realised that it was God's food) and asked if I was okay. After talking, Hiro wanted to talk to me privately so Hinata left. He asked me if the massacre was what I meant and I was like 'duh!'.
The next was Sakura and Ino, I was surprised that they came together actually. They were of course worried about me but mainly came since Sasuke didn't want any visitors (except me of course! Even so, I would break the door if he didn't, then proceed to beat his ass).

They gave me our get-better flowers and presents (Sasuke's was much bigger) and chatted with me. I never really hung out with them but I never hated them (even in my old life) so it was fine. What was not fine was that they gave me school work that I was missing.
After them, Naruto actually came, that I was definitely surprised. He gave me instant ramen, something I hugged him for. (Hospital food tastes like broke.) I also helped him with his schoolwork, something I sometimes did when he was struggling with it. It was a short brief talk (since the people didn't want him here) but it was refreshing with the little ball of sunshine around.
Someone knocked on the door. "Come in." I said in reply, reading a book since the place had no entertainment at all. Opening the door, I was shocked to see Hiruzen, the Hokage, enter the room in his robes and hat. "Hokage-sama!" I dipped my head in false-respect. How could I not do it if he was such a coward?
"Raise your head Megumi. We need to discuss some things." Raising my head, I glance at the old guy in confusion, tilting my head. What does the Hokage need from me? He sat down in the empty seat beside my bed, placing his hat down. "How are you doing?"
"As fine as a person can be when they saw their whole clan murdered by their own brother." I say with a sad chuckle and having a grim smile. I let it go and land my eyes to my lap. "But honestly, Sasuke's making it worse than me."
The hokage nods in agreement. "How are you taking this so well? Your tests say that there was no mental damage."
"...I guess you could say I've been expecting something like this." He raised a brow as I look back up. I tell him what I said to Itachi on that night (except about my well being), surprising him. "So pardon me if this is rude but why are you here, Hokage-sama? You come here for tea or what?"
He chuckles. "No no, not at all. Well," He starts, clearing his throat. "You see, since the old head is... gone now and that the next suited person is...- "
"Rouge." I fill in for him, letting him know that it was fine.
"-Rouge, technically you are the new head." My eyes widen at the fact. I never thought of this. Why would I? I thought I was supposed to die that night. My hand clench the blanket I was using. "So now, I'm sorry to burden you but what do you want to do with the bodies?"
I sucked in a breath. Gosh dang, why the hell did you spare me Itachi?! "I-I don't know." I settled with. "I'll need to talk with Sasuke."
He nods, understanding my intentions, and stands up, picking up his hat and placing it on his head. "I'll have to go now. We'll talk later, farewell now."

When he was gone, I sighed in despair. This is going to be a long process.
After we got discharged from the hospital, we moved into an apartment. Now due to my bugging and begging, we got to live only a few doors from the Naruto! The said Blondie was at first annoyed that the 'teme' was his neighbor (and vice versa) but he was ecstatic when he found out that we would hang out more! Our apartment was just 2 small ones combined and since Sasuke was being edgy and did not want to decorate the apartment with me, I painted his room pink. Bright. Neon. .
("He he..." I giggled whilst crouching next tot Sasuke's bright pink bed where a certain foolish little brother was drooling. Awww~ I gushed when I saw him cuddle with a certain stuffed dinosaur. Next to me was a megaphone clutched in my hands, begging to be used. Inching closer to the unsuspecting boy's ears, I raise the object towards my widely curled up mouth.
I took a deep breath.
"SASUKE-KUN~" I shrieked in a very annoying high pitched voice. In an instant, he bolted up, head butting my down in the process, and grabbed his kunai under his pillow.
Frantically and with wide eyes, he raised it in my direction and screamed. "Do- DONT fuck with me: I have the power of god and anime on my side!!!"
Sitting up from the ground, I clutched my head in pain. "Owwwie! Foolish little brother you didn't have to-"
I registered his words.
When I did, I began laughing, wheezing as I held my stomach in both amusement and in pain. Sasuke blinked ar me, before stuttering as if he couldn't believe on what he just said. "I have converted one!"
"Wh-Wha-"
*CLICK*
With my smile only widening further, I managed to clam down and dart my head towards corner. In that corner of the small pink room was Hiro, smirking as he held a camera in his bandages hands. I giggled.
That was a good day.)
With the bodies, we both decided to give them a proper burial. After that, We later started training. We did it mostly separately, doing only taijutsu and shuriken/kunai practice together. If going by canon, I'm pretty sure he would work on his Katon, taijutsu, and practice. I, however, was practicing chakra control, not that he knew that of course, he's hellbent on revenge to listen to my ramblings.
Unlike him, who trained in the normal training grounds, I trained in the big pond place that the compound has. Starting with tree-walking, it took me well over a week to do it! I don't even know what I was doing in wrong, was it because I didn't have a time limit unlike Team seven did? Next was water walking of course, took me a lot of time and effort. You know, maybe it was better that I learn these now.
I also started training my Sharingan; this was hard to do since I didn't have any moving targets. I didn't tell anyone because, I did not want Danzo or Orochimaru to find out and try to 'recruit' me yet and two, I just wanted the element of surprise.
Moving on, I was the one that mostly did the cooking for us. I guess making dinner with mom did pay off, since I've never cooked in my other life. But sometimes we'd eat out at Ichiraku ramen with Naruto (despite Sasuke's complaining).
Speaking of Naruto, the Duckie and the Blondie have gotten closer, more than the canon at least. I guess since we live closer now we have more chances to interact. That also means that their rivalry grows even more and I gush whenever they gaze into their eyes oh so romantically right in front of me.
("Hey Naruto, you're eating over at our house tonight." I said one day to the unsuspecting blond one day.
He whipped his head with confused blue eyes, as if he didn't hear what I just stated. "Huh?" He asked, tilting his head to further expression his confusion. Sitting beside me, Sasuke gave me a questioning stare but didn't say anything about it. Y'all see, if this was canon!Sasuke, then he would flat out reject the very thought. Progress I see! "Why?" Is he afraid that I might lure him into a trap and then torture him? I resist the urge to recoil back by that thought. Maybe it has happened... All the better that we have this!
I smiled to the sunshine that is called Naruto Uzumaki. "Because first of all," I held an index finger up. "Eating ramen, even if it's Ichiraku, is not nutritious-"
"I-it is plenty nutritious, dattebayo!"
"-and second of all, we've never done it before, despite being next-door neighbors!" I pushed forward my now peace-sign at him, causing him to lean back. "Come on! It'll be fun! Even if Sasuke's there."
"Hn!" Sasuke let out. Turning back at him, I let many giggles escape me as I gazed at his oh-so-scary glare.
Looking back at the for-once quiet boy, I saw him hesitate before flashing us a blinding foxy grin. "Yeah!"
Naruto protection club where you at?!)
In the academy, Sasuke now pushes away his fangirls instead of just ignoring them, which actually makes it worse. For me, I'm pretty much the same but Hiro keeps on telling me that I'm just crazier by the minute. Oh well! Also, I'm no longer top student in academics any more! Sakura is now and I'm pretty sure it was because I wasn't in the academy for a month or so it'd make sense.
I didn't really care anyways, in fact, it's better for me! This just means that I have a lesser chance of being in Team 7. Yeah, if I was, I'd be with both Sasuke and Naruto but it ain't worth losing a leg in a C-ranked-soon-to-be-A-rank mission or a mission to save a princess!
Yeah, my life became normal and before I realized it, years passed by and the show started.
