to avoid confusion for their sudden appearance, they still didn't go by unnoticed. Even magic couldn't conceal how badly they stood out, with their ethereal faces and cold eyes, like angels mimicking humans. They weren't angels however, Jasmina knew that all too well, and they did too - whenever they smiled it only became all too clear they were demons after all.

Her first class was History and she was bored already when she set foot in the classroom. The teacher was a middle-aged man with a receding hairline and a permanent frown, as pretentious as he was stern. Despite that the man adored her, mostly because her grades were high and her smile sickly sweet. She didn't think the sins would have as much succes with him though.

Ira proved that point right away, crossing his ankles on his desk and staring blankly at the man. Victor stared at him with a frown, before turning towards Gio, who was sitting on his other side with his head on his arms. Priyanka at least looked at the man, though with the way she leaned her chin on her hand and tipped her head backwards she looked more like she was judging him rather than anything else. Ari, Daichi and Lucy were honestly the only ones who seemed excited to be there, all three of them staring at her teacher in anticipation.

They took up the whole back row and Jasmina had placed herself before Priyanka, not up for sitting right in the middle of whatever chaos would follow. Still, she didn't want to miss the show, so she would settle for this proximity instead. The teacher gave them all a confused glance, before his sight troubled with baby pink swirls and turned clear again.

"So, the new transfers I assume?" he said.

"You assume right, sir," Daichi beamed.

"Alright then," the teacher said, pacing in front of the class," I hope you revised the material, because it won't be easy to keep up otherwise."

"I highly doubt that," Priyanka said, a condescending smile on her face," unless you too are immortal."

"Like immortals exist," her teacher said with a roll of his eyes," if you're talking about God we will keep that out of this discussion here, I've gotten in trouble about that before."

"Come on now," Ari drawled," tell us, do you believe in hell, sir? I'm curious."

"The concept hell," he began, looking around," it's a belief that soothes and scares people. Especially when we're looking back to the second World War, what did you see there?"

"How did he make a question out of your question?" Lucy whispered amusedly.

Ari giggled, causing him to look right back at her.

"You," he said," you don't seem to care for my lesson that much with all that laughter, so why don't you answer the discussion you started?"

"Let's be honest," Ira called out," I don't think many people here care for the lesson."

The teacher's eyes widened, but before he could truly realize what Ira had said Victor already waved a hand, causing him to move like time was being reversed. Green smoke had appeared with the movement and disappeared as soon as Victor placed his hand down, causing the teacher to repeat the sentence he had said to Ari before.

"Shut up," Victor hissed to Ira," I have a manic fear of getting into trouble, don't involve me in this."

"I knew you were a teacher's pet," Ira replied amusedly.

Despite how he played it off Jasmina knew that the reason he had spoken up was about more than just boredom. It was clear that he had wanted to change the subject from war, but when Ari started talking, she could see him tense again.

"I don't think believing matters," she said," there either is a god and a hell or there isn't, our belief in their existence doesn't mean anything at all." She waved around her, at the sins. "I mean, I became an atheist as a child and I still got saddled with these demons."

"That didn't answer my question," the teacher said.

"You didn't answer mine either," Ari smiled.

"Come on now," Daichi shouted from the back," we all want to know how you think the devil has affected history, teach."

"Is it perhaps that you don't know the answer?" Priyanka drawled," is that why you're evading the question?"

"O my God, we're so annoying," Victor whispered to himself," this poor man."

"You're all so loud," Gio murmured, voice muffled against his arms," I won't be able to sleep."

Jasmina leaned back in her chair, amused at how flustered her teacher became. He stepped back, seeming to be struggling whether he should say something or not. In the end he decided on the first, gaze wandering across them as he replied.

"People always imagine the devil as the epitome of all sin," he began," a fallen angel, a horned man, the depictions are different in each religion. Still, it all comes down to the same thing, when people want someone to blame, they either find one or they make one. That's why in the wars religion either became an anchor for the soldiers or the water filling their lungs."

"Poetic," Jasmina smiled, before adding," and the devil is a gentleman, isn't that what some say?"

"I doubt he's anything but evil if he exists," her teacher said with a shake of his head," some even blame him for causing the wars. He brings out the evil in men after all."

"Blaming the devil does nothing," Ira scoffed," there's no sharp evil he brings out in wars, just blood between your teeth and nightmares in your throat. You scream and scream, until no one can sleep anymore. Whose fault is that but those who send us away, those who move broken pawns across a bloody chessboard? It isn't the devil's, that's for sure, but I suppose it's easier to blame everything on him when people don't want to accept the consequences of their actions."

"I don't say this often," Victor whispered," but I'm impressed."

Ira blinked, seeming to just have realized that he had said everything out loud. Her teacher however seemed lost, but as soon as the murmurs in the class started up he seemed to swallow back whatever was blocking his voice.

"I can praise you for being emotionally invested at least," he said with a shake of his head," I don't think any of my students has ever replied something like that before."

"Sir, I don't think I could even find the words for an answer like that," a guy in the front row spoke up, looking genuinely shocked.

"Then search harder," the teacher replied without skipping a beat, before glancing back at Ira again. "Anyway, I'm glad to see that you care for the subject, but you talk as if everything you believe in must be real. Let's keep it all hypothetical, please."

"Who says hell is a hypothetical thing?" Daichi smiled.

"Some people don't believe in it," her teacher shrugged," though the thought of people like Hitler burning is soothing in a way, I suppose."

"Oh, he's doing far more than burning," Ira whispered.

"As he should," Victor nodded.

"You two are getting along great these days," Lucy said as she glanced at them," I'm glad."

As if on cue they automatically started bickering about that again, causing Lucy to laugh in surprise. The teacher frowned at them, looking unsure about whether he should reprimand them or not, but then decided against it. It was honestly the better decision of the two; if he had said something the discussion that would follow would probably be more intense than the last.

The next two lessons were the same, the disruptions almost as long as her teacher's starting headaches. At lunch she discovered another perk of the sins besides amusing her though: no one dared to come closer with them around. Even the usual clique of rich kids that followed her kept their distance, something Jasmina was glad for. Keeping them around always came in handy for future networking, but she didn't mind spending a day without the constant sweet-talk.

As soon as they started walking towards PE, a lesson most of them were actually excited about, she told them to go on without her for a moment. She had to apply her lipstick again and wasn't that anxious about being on time anyway. The girls inside the bathroom scurried out at the sight of her, greeting her quietly in passing, and she walked towards the mirror, checking for any flaws.

After spraying some perfume on herself she stepped outside, ready to see the sins shock the hell out of the students here, but before she could even round the corner of the empty hallway she got stopped. With cold eyes she turned towards whomever had grabbed her wrist, before raising an eyebrow at the sight of the person.

"Alan, what are you doing here?"

Her ex-boyfriend looked like he had no plans of letting her go anytime soon, instead pulling at her wrist.

"Jasmina, I need to talk to you."
