A faint voice echoed at the back of her mind. "Wake up... Wake up... It was muffled, but was drastically getting louder.

"Wake up!" Eren shouted, as Mikasa's eyes shot open.

Eren let out a sigh of relief, and watched Mikasa scramble to her feet.

"You're too much." he mumbled, reaching his hand out. She took it, too dazed to protest, as they began walking through the woods.

"How long was I asleep?"

"Hell should I know? I got down to the base and turned around to look for you." he explained.

"What? Why would you walk back?" she asked, feeling his warmth slowly melt the frost that coated her hands.

"Cause I was worried dumbass." he mumbled, too low for her to hear. He shook his head, "Anyway, how did you manage to get yourself on the side of the mountain?"

"I did?"

He chuckled, "Yep. You did."

"Oh." she muttered, lightly touching her forehead.

"Seriously though, how?" he asked.

"I'm not sure, I just remember walking in circles." she mumbled. He looked at her wide eyed, "Are you serious? Top of the class, walking in circles?" he remarked, clearly amused. She furrowed her brow at him as he continued to chuckle.

Her mind looped back to her final thoughts before falling asleep, the ones about Eren. Her cheeks dusted pink at the returning thoughts, as she desperately tried to cover her face with her remaining hand.

He glanced at her and lifted a brow, "You've been in the cold too long, your face is pink."

"You don't need to point it out..." she muttered, spreading her fingers out to cover more of her face.

He rolled his eyes and looked ahead, "Anyways. You got lost because you were tired?"

"Yeah. And I guess I had a lot on my mind."

He sighed, and looked back at her. "Jean?"

She shrugged, "I guess."

He let out another dramatic sigh, "You should seriously forget about him, Mikasa. He didn't even make you happy anyway-"

"That's not what mattered!" she exclaimed, grabbing Eren's attention.

"I- I mean... It didn't matter if he made me happy or not." she muttered. Eren scrunched his nose at the statement, "Then what mattered?" he asked.

She shook her head, "Nothing. It's selfish."

"You're allowed to be selfish Mikasa." Her eyes widened, as she looked up at Eren. His nose was nipped by the cold, and was colored pink.

"Well... He was a key part to my future. Being with Jean meant stability and security, which is what I wanted for my parents."

Eren slowed his pace, but kept his grip on Mikasa's hand. "So it was all for your parents?" he asked. She hesitated, but then nodded.

He scoffed, "Selfish my ass. Have you ever really been selfish, Mikasa?" he asked.

The question hung over her, and she wasn't sure how to answer it. Has she ever been selfish? Eren took Mikasa's silence as a no, and could see how hard she was pondering on it.

"Well, what's really on your mind?" he asked. Eren could tell when he asked a question she's already asked herself, because she showed no sign of bewilderment.

"I'm wondering what I should do." she answered plainly. Even though the statement was vague, Eren completely understood.

"Mikasa." he began, stopping in his tracks.

He took both of her hands, and turned his body to face her. She gazed up at him in awe, flecks of snow perfectly speckled his hair.

"Mikasa. What do with your life?" he asked. A winter breeze blew, tossing Mikasa's raven hair to the side. She continued to gaze up at Eren, stunned by his choice of words. 'What do to do with your life'.

The scrambled puzzle pieces all began forming together in Mikasa's head, as her vision cleared.

Of course...

An orange light peaked behind the snowy mountain range in the distance.

"Eren I..." she began, taking a step forward.

She glanced at the sun rising over the mountains for a moment, then came back to Eren's eyes. What she truly wanted was right in front of her all along.

Her eyes drifted down to his lightly frosted lips, that were parted slightly.

"I want to watch the sunrise behind the wall..."

She leaned in slightly, and Eren completely closed the gap between them. Their lips locked, and the sensation warmed both of their icy lips instantly. When they pulled away, she finally felt certain.

"...with you."
